Most people find 17hmr to be a little more accurate at longer ranges. Under 50 yards I would say they are pretty close.

I don't think from 75 yards or less they're any different (assuming little to no wind). After like 90 yards the .17 would be quite a bit better imo

Main difference is unless you shell out for high quality .22 lr the powder loads can be a bit inconsistent.

.17 really isnt great past 120 yards though, not enough mass to push through the atmosphere.
