let's get a thread on /k/-worthy projects and diy shit going
both gun and milsurp related
here's one i've been working on:

>own russian 6b4 body armor
>shipped without ceramic plates because of course it's not
>original plates cost $22 each and my vest requires about 52 of these fuckers
>not keen on paying $1,100+ for some shitty slav ceramic
>buy one original plate come up with pic related
>the mold i made holds a half-cup of liquid and a gallon of casting resin is $55 at cheapest
>can make 16 plates per gallon at a cost of around $3.50 per plate
>the resin is 75 shore d harness (about same as hdpe hard hats), so can probably hold up to airsoft pellets
>after i fill up my own vest, might continue making to sell to russian milsim and reenactor dudes who want something sturdier and more accurate than wood or eva foam, but chaper than original plates and rare pvc repro's

gonna pick up a gallon of casting resin every month
what are you guys making?
>>
>>34342581
>rare pvc repro's
do those consist of cut sections of sewer pipe?

i keep meaning to finish my kearny fallout meter, but i don't have much initiative after i get home from work these days.

I believe so, yeah.

um
russian armor plates for 6b series
not tacticool shit
>>
>VSS airsoft to 22lr conversion status
10/22 is too fat in pretty much every way including the mags.
18" barrel looks like it will align perfectly with the end of the silencer shroud.
Next step is opening the shroud at the receiver end to fit the barrel profile. Got a 1" knockout punch coming, backup plan is a hole saw on a drillpress.
Project on hold until I get my hands on a Mossberg 702.
>>
>>34342581
You could probably make a decent armour plate from casting with a little metallurgy. Not AR-500 of course, but something that would stop pistols.

Why not use an AR-7 receiver?
>>
>>34347614
I'd rather have a decent barrel but nothing is off the table, a got a line on a cheap 702 rn so ill start there.
>>
>>34347257
I'm focusing on just repro inserts for now
there's a niche but profitable market for these things

anything's a fleshlight if you're brave enough

also mold turned out looking kinda shitty because i was rushing and didn't have the right materials to make the casting box becaue i'm a cheap, impatient faggot, but the cavity itself is just fine and the original plate came out with no problem
will make another mold in the future, but I can totally get quite a few repro plates out of this one for now
finna buy the casting resin and mold release spray this july since i blew all my money this month on russian milsurp

Anyone else ever make their own holster?
Sorry for the old pic, best one I have of it.
>>
>>34346648
Go to Walmart? They're like 100$ brand new.
>>
>>34350652
Outside of the mold means shit, dun worry about it, Specially with a 1 Piece mold like that,
You're fine.
(Typically i use lego for mine, i can adjust the size as i need, but i make mostly 2 part molds where they need to line up)

Mold release can be any number of things. Rape Seed Oil worked for me, I mean technically you could probably use cooking spray in a pinch.
Your mold is going to start to degrade if you're casting urethane resin in the silicone.

With a shape like that, you could possibly make the mold out of plaster of paris or something like that, it'd last longer and be more heat tolerant if you were to pour like metals into it.

Im a bit confused though, Resin probably wont stop a bullet, Are these just for show?

rip me

>>34356091
Was gonna make the casting box outta legos, but I didn't have enough pieces to make it capable of holding liquid (even silicone)
And yeah, they're for reenacting/milsim only.
Just as a placeholder alternative to other options
eva foam is too light
wood takes too much work for what it's worth and doesn't have the curvature unless you're willing to put in time and effort to make it that way
Ukranian pvc repros cost nearly as much as originals and are rare as balls
I want to put an american made option on the market that has the same feel and a decent weight, for a fraction of the cost of originals.

>reminder most 6b4 variants take this many fucking carbide boron plates

Of they are consistantly curved I would invest in an oven, a bandsaw and a shittton of high density plastic plate from Alibaba so you can make a lot fast.

I think I had this site bookmarked at some point, but forgot about it. Thanks, anon.
I'll have to recount how much titanium my 6B4-01-O Vest (pic related) actually uses.
It carries 52 plates total, but the back set of pouches carry titanium only while the front is all carbide boron.

>>34361029
Maybe next month my dude. Still have to get the casting resin and I won't be able to afford it til then.

hey its autistic cvc guy

off topic but always wondered, do you own any real gats? i see you with a airshit g3 alot but no real blasters
>>
>>34364714
unfortunately, no realguz yet
it's my old folks, they don't want guns in the house.
Love 'em too much to try and argue (not that I'd change their mind if i did, been down that road), so I'm just trying to move out atm.
At least it leaves me lots of money to afford milshit.
>>
>>34347725
you can purchase aftermarket threaded and heavy steel barrels for ar7s.
