Learning artist here. I want to start drawing military inspired works, but I don't really have any good references of guns.
If you could post an image of a gun (any attachments, and model, etc.) that you have, it would be great. The only thing I ask is that it isn't obstructed and in full view with a 90° angle, with the pic attached as an example.
It doesn't necessarily have to be your gun, if you have a stock photo that looks like this, I'd be welcome to it as well.

I'm honestly not sure what you guys are talking about, i haven't made any other recent thread here. if it's the image, I only saved it from one of these other threads.
>>34340946
Searching something broad like 'gun' returns a lot of the same few guns, and they aren't necessarily angled properly, or have obfuscating backgrounds/foregrounds, such as a person holding the weapon. By asking you guys, I can get a variety of guns angled the same way for drawing them, and it's semi-interesting where the photos are taken.
Here ya go OP this should do you nicely.

Learn the inner workings of guns. Youtube it.
With a good concept of how a firearm operates, you should be able to put a bit more solid foundation to your artwork.
Same thing with studying human anatomy.
Or you're just a lazy artist who will sprout some excuse like "lmao, I m not serious, its just for fun/hobby".

I guess I'd have to ask what kind/style of gun you're looking for. Something from WWI, Cold War, or modern? What kind of aesthetics; old-school wood and steel, modern polymer, future spacematerial? You gotta give me something to work with here. Also, post sample pics.

>>34341476
That makes sense, actually. I'll try that, thanks.
>>34341664
Well I kinda am a shit artist, I'm on just seriously getting into art, and just started drawing more serious, military works yesterday. I tried searching "gun reference" like I normally do with people, but it returns a lot of pictures of people holding one, while I just want one that's out. It also returns other art and video game weapon concepts which isn't what I'm looking for. Someone said search schematic and someone else said blueprint, so I know what to search for the future.
>>34341806
Anything works, but I'd say WWII and younger. Materials don't matter, it's more collecting references in general rather than something specific. Think of it as a share your gun thread. I'd prefer something handheld as well. The pictures in the thread have been generally well-taken, but here's another example.
>>34342005
>>34341676
Thanks. I was trying to avoid searching for specific weapons as that would limit my sample size, but it seems that's what I have to do. My only problem is I only have a basic understanding of guns and only know names from video games, which may or may not be correct.

Literally a giant firearms reference. If that's not good enough go get a copy of Janes or Google "gun reference".
Check out these youtube channels for nice, high quality videos on the mechanics of guns, with lots of close up shots of said guns.

Well I'm certainly missing something, I completely forgot to write the part where I didn't want to search specific guns because i don't particularly have good knowledge of weapons past fake video game names, which would really limit what weapons I could find.

Hey OP, it can help to treat guns like how you'd treat your figure studies as well. Jump into weapons schematics and build videos to get an idea of the weapons' internals so you can create your own realistic-ish guns from imagination. And of course, nothing beats drawing objects from life.
Also remember to hammer in those perspective studies.

Well a good place for variety is early automatic pistols (1890s-1930s), as the concept was just getting started. Same thing with early selfloading rifles (1900s to 1940s). Lots of variety in design and aesthetics. If you want a wide cross section you can start with https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_semi-automatic_pistols , sort by date or whatever else works for you. ForgottenWeapons is a has a good video on early automatic pistol cartridges, which could improve your understanding of the "anatomy" of what you want to draw. https://youtube.com/watch?v=msQI6ongp24
