I've had to get rid of about 14 of my neighbors dogs that wouldnt stay off my land. I have pretty much perfected it.

Get yourself a .22lr and shoot that bastard right in the stomach. You wont have to bury the dog, it'll run home and die there. Plus you will know who's dog it was.

All joking aside I nearly had to draw and kill a rabid doggo a few months back

I wouldn't have even caught any heat for it since city states VERY clearly all dogs must be on leashed or locked up. A fucking 80lb shepard barking and running down a citizen would have cleared me completely. Just didn't want to see like "that crazy gun nut" to the neighborhood that slaughtered a dog because I'm paranoid.

To this day I don't know if I made the right choice. It all worked out but if it had tackled me I could have been grievously injured before I could clear my weapon and shoot. On my back and being mauled I might have accidentally shot my own legs or perhaps some innocent person across the street since I wouldn't exactly be back to see beyond my target.

The pack was barking aggressively but this isn't my first time around a dogoo. I know a good deal of the time is it all bark no bite. If it had been alone or with other larger breeds I think I would have fired. I just kind of rationalized that this one likely wouldn't attack because if it ran with a lot of smaller dogs it was likely more domesticated and less violent. If it was a real blood thirsty fucker it would have killed or driven away the smaller ones long ago.

Plus I really didn't want to have to shoot a dog in front of my house. Even if I faced no legal repercussions that neighbor would likely hate me for life. I have a lot of shit delivered through amazon. Big boxes that sit on my porch for 9+ hours a day. If I made a beef they could easily steal my shit or fucked with my house while I was away working.

I took a calculated risk and it ended up being the right one. Still it could have so easily been the wrong one.

In the old country we used to cull stray dogs, using a 32 acp smg (it was kinda like a sten with magazine at the bottom, small shop made guns) Or Shotgun loaded with heavier bird or smaller buck shot and open choke.
