weapon lights under $100 are usually trash
>>

On the contrary, i believe the logistics of modern society, really negates the need for same caliber both weapons for anybody.

It may have been handy on the frontier, were you didnt know if they next store had the calibers you needed and had to keep track of the weight you carried.

Even if we were to somehow collapse, we'd have enough ammo to go around.

i may be an infantryfag and im definitely not the southern/cowboy type, however, ive always wanted a lever action and a revolver in 357. So usually my knife purchase is like $150+

The same is true for a light but a bit less

I'm sorry, where is that? I have literally never heard of that. Like a striker revolver?
>>
>>34339982
He's retarded and doesn't understand 'hammerless' revolvers still have hammers because it has to fire bullets somehow. They have made striker revolvers before but they're all trash.
>>
>>34336224
>Iits kinda hard to find a good knife that has an O2 wrench, knife, belt cutter, glass breaker and is durable

that doesn't sound like a knife, it sounds like a knife, belt cutter, glass breaker, and an O2 wrench, especially the last of which virtually no one outside of your profession would need
>>
>>34339996
Well, that's why I'm so confused. He even mentions shrouded hammers, so he knows they exist but I don't know literally any way a revolver works.
>>
>>34340057
I think he's implying that instead of buying a hammerless model you should buy a shrouded one so you can remove the shroud if you want.

Cause you know, revolvers with removable shrouds are SO COMMON and definitely exist in your specific needs/wants.
>>
>>34339996

>>
>>34340252

>>
>>34340086
Also shrouded hammers let crap into the action. Hammerless is enclosed and a much better idea for pocket, purse or ankle carry.
>>
>>34340259
Like unit patches or those autism ones from the patch thread with all the anime references and what not?
Albeit, those are autism, just of a different sort.
>>
>>34339901
It's not though. I'm not talking about "le youtube bushcraft master" or "epic extreme survival bugout" shit either. Just for general innawoods/edc the bare minimum you should be spending on a knife is like $50-$60, around $100 is where you only start to see diminishing returns on price/quality. It boggles the mind to see a guy posting about drop leg holsters and plate carriers but cheaps out on an actual useful tool.

I hate that "guns" as a hobby has just turned into disgusting consumerism like "nerd" stuff has. It's pretty fucking stupid. It's just a bunch of LARPing faggots buying shit for the sake of buying shit and collecting stupid shit that will never be used.
>>
>>34340719
The AR and gearqueer threads are the worst, it's nothing but airsofters showing off their pristine gear that looks somehow even newer than in the advertising pictures. At least airsoft kiddies actually play their little game, the vast majority of people here limit their experience to standing in a stall and firing at a sheet of paper. Not too fast though or the range watch will get mad.
>>
>>34340732

It's pretty stupid. Sometimes I'll go to the gearqueer thread and ask questions on a certain piece of tat I'd like to purchase (that I'll actually use) but I think my general dislike of this stuff stems from the fact that my friend linked me a video of a girl shooting a .500 magnum and it was just fucking stupid. It's just to have. Why? Why have a revolver like that which you can barely control (both male and female couldn't really control it)? Why spend that much money when you could get something you could actually use.

I fucking hate consumerism.
>>
>>34340747
Hey, at least it's a gun. Even though it'll never actually get used for hunting it can at least do its job and can blow up a soda bottle real cool. Some of these guys buy the $1000+ Eotech IR emitters even though they don't actually have a device that picks up IR. At least they'll be prepared to designate that airstrike when they buy that jet they can't fly.

Actually scratch that, my favorite is the guys who but the little shortbarreled breaching shotguns and a scabbard to wear it on their back so they can play one man army and do everything an entire team would normally do.
>>
>>34340773

I see your point, but at the same time it still angers me. At least the shotgun could be used for something too. Maybe it's because I'd be considered a fudd but I have one rifle and a pistol. The rifle is an Enfield I got when I was 16 and the pistol is passed down from my grandfather. In all honesty, I would like something not bolt-action but I can't bring myself to make the purchase yet. I'd probably get an AK just because I like the reliability (and I'm a Sovietboo). It would get used though and wouldn't be used for dress-up too. Maybe that's a little hypocritical.
>>
>>34339901
If you use your knife once a month to open a box yeah. If you work a job that requires using a knife on a regular basis you're making you're life a lot more difficult trying to make due with stainless steel china shit that loses its edge after 10 cuts. You get what you pay for.
>>
the drop leg is a slightly older technology, because when you're wearing a large bullet proof vest, you can't run the pistol on your hip because you won't be able to draw and you have to drop it down. these days vests are slimmer and we have drop duty adapters that move the pistol down while still being secured to your hip, so they're on the decline. a properly adjusted drop leg isn't even all that bad, but if I'm not wearing body armor I'd rather have the pistol on my hip

as for other questions, I'll defer to Paul Harrell
