I'm doing a Fallout PnP campaign in which some of the characters will have park ranger rifles. Since this is Fallout, the guns need to be more powerful than normal to fit the outrageous setting, like with the 10mm and 14mm pistols present in Fallout. What would be a good upgrade to the Ruger M14 to give it bigger bang for its buck?

The Courier's .50
An M1 Garand chambered for .50bmg

Colt Rangemaster? Or some battle rifle if you're going by the post-3 canon, since ranger stations in HH have shitloads of .308.
Really, the calibers in fallout are pretty restrained. F1 was made in a time when people seriously thought 10mm was the future, with the FBI poised to adopt it. The 14mm is just so they have a more powerful endgame pistol for non-energy weapon users.

Normal 14.
But if I remember correctly .223 is a thing in Fallout.
