I don't remember which gun it was, but I remember seeing a rifle in wolfenstein that had the ejection port cover cycle with the bolt. Am I crazy but I remember seeing it so vividly in the game somewhere. It was in an animation picking up the rifle for the first time.

Literally just finished this game yesterday. All around the environments there are little news clippings and collectible shit that you can read to get an understanding of what's going on in the game's universe. Plus you can hear conversations between ordinary citizens when you're scampering around in the sewers of Berlin.

My point is that much more interesting narratives can be made from the premise of an axis victory in wwii. They could have made the main character see what benefits the reich brought to aryan citizens in america and introduced a moral quandary where he has to choose between immorally gained happiness for a select group of people or morally gained unhappiness for everyone. Instead we got a rehash of every other WW2 game where you play as an American because the allies are the good guys. I just think it would make a much more satisfying game if they went into detail on the differences between democracy and fascism and the benefits and shortcomings of each. Too often people conflate the third reich, admittedly a morally bankrupt, power-hungry government, with total, absolutel evil, and by extension conflate authoritarianism with total evil.
And yes, the guns are ugly.

One thing you fail to realize is that you're complaining about blasting nazis without justifiable reason, which would be fine if it were literally any game other than Wolfenstein. Tearing through hordes of national socialists is part of the series' identity and making them cartoonishly evil serves that piece of it.

I'm not exactly a /pol/ type but you have to admit, if they even tried to show any kind of positive side to a Nazi victory the game would get a shitton of bad PR. I mean, as it is, you have games censoring the swastika and shit. Can you imagine the backlash and sensasionalist DURR WOLFENSTEIN THINKS NAZIS WER RIGHT? headlines if they tried to do that?

I agree that there's some very interesting stories you could tell with a Nazi victory, but I doubt any publisher right now has the balls to actually fund a game that does that. And, as >>34329712 says, Wolfenstein probably isn't the place to do that anyway.

I'm just saying that since they seem to want to take a more serious tone in the new games they could make the plot more interesting. If they turned up the wacky parts and deleted most of the plot in favor of mowing down Nazis that would be OK with me. Gameplay wise New Order was super fun already.
