Well first you have to get legal residency, which is like 7 pages and ~$800 in application fees. Then once you're a legal resident you can enlist if you are eligible for service. After completely a minimum 3 year enlistment and being honorably discharged your citizenship application is pretty much fast tracked.

I know that is kind of said in jest, but I kind of agree with you.
However there are many positions in the military that have nothing to do with fighting. You could be a firefighter for example. Or even work in IT.

Usually going private sector is ALWAYS better than public, especially when it's the military and you literally go to prison if you try to quit your job, but there's not really any other way unless you have a unique skill or own a business and are moving to the US (which I think is fine, to be honest).

Step 1: Get here.
Step 2: claim to be Mexican. Get a tan, use hair dye, learn some Spanish, claim to have been born in Jalisco. They'll deport your ass post hate if you're from a "white" country for overstaying your visa, but if you're Mexican, they'll only prioritize you of you commit a felony.
Step 3: Buy a firearm in a private sale.
You may not be able to purchase, but federal courts have said you may possess. Just like a noncitizen has the "right" to free public education and protection of the courts by virtue of being present in the country (Plyler v Doe).
Step 4: Enjoy! We're the only country in the world that doesn't seem to give a shit about distinguishing between citizens and noncitizens when it comes to "rights" once you're actually on our soil. Except if you're from a predominantly "white" country, then we'll just deport you quickly because the PC police won't stand up for you and there aren't already 12 million of you here illegally, so we can actually do something about the "problem." Thus, claim to be Mexican and no one will even do much to make you prove it.
In my state, it is illegal for county officials to require proof of citizenship for school enrollment, so while I have to provide a birth certificate for my kids, to enter school, my Mexican national neighbors don't. Also, if my kids want to go to a neighboring state for college, I have to pay out of state tuition, but if they're Mexican, they get in-state tuition rates.

You just need to do what I did and marry an American citizen. You spend a year, thereabouts, in applications and interviews and waiting for Temporary Permanent Residency. Two years as a Temporary Permanent Resident, then another interview to become a full-fledged Permanent Resident. Another year and you can apply for citizenship as fiancée visa applicants only have to wait three years. So four years of waiting, only one of which you are unable to buy guns, and you're a US Citizen.
