Are you a 500 guy or an 870 guy?

Also, why so few shotgun threads on /k/?
>>
>>34324630
>Are you a 500 guy or an 870 guy?
Both. Both types have features that I like.

>why so few shotguns threads
Because they're not as sexy as rifles.
>>
>>34324649

> because they're not as sexy as rifles

Yeah but you can actually hit stuff with a shotgun
>>
>>34324630
I own an 870 but I'm issued the 500. I prefer the 870s action release location but prefer the 500s safety. Both are perfectly fine and very modular.
>>
>>34324630
320 guy. Cause I love to go cheap and heavy.
>>
>>34324695

The abidextrous safety is why I went with the 500
>>
Benelli guy. American shotguns nowadays are pretty much universally trash.
>>
>>34324630
500, b/c cheaper. Fit and finish is looser, but not in any way that negatively impacts function. Shoots 3" groups at 100 yards with the right barrel/slug combo, shoots cloverleafs at 50 yards as a .50 muzzleloader.
>>
>>34324630
870 also Chevy
>>
870, I prefer the looks and mine, despite /k/'s memes, works flawlessly

>>34324649
Shotguns are way more sexy than rifles in general.
>>
Benelli M4
>>
>>34324630
870. I've seen three different 500's break parts during general use on three separate occasions.

The Mossman 5000 has a camuch created elevator, whereas the 870 has a spring actuated elevator.

The majority of 870 jams that aren't related to deformed shells or short stroking are caused by the elevator, the Mossberg eliminmates that entire category of malfunction.

500/590 all the way.

I do NOT recommend the .50 barrel, though. It shits up the receiver something wicked, and muzzleloaders are cheap enough as is.

Trips of truth

Also anyone remember the quick guide to determining pre freedom group 870s? Something to do with the serial refix. Saw an 870 20 gauge at Walmart rollbacked under msrp by a hundred dollars and I was trying to remember.

I've had both, as well as Ithaca 37 and Winchester 1200.
Mossberg is lighter and less prone to rust, 870 is slightly more customizable and the extra weight makes heavy loads more tolerable.

>>34325345

But people won't get mad about

A) the noise

or

B) buckshot flying around?

They're not as loud as you think (basic bitch AR15 is much louder), and buckshot doesn't spread nearly as much as you think (1" per yard on average).

I have 3 500s and no 870s, I don't like the action release location or safety location on the Remingtons.

benelli guy here, are the problems with the express as bad as people make them out to be? local place has a good deal on 18.5" barrels with rifle sights, kind of want to build an old style police gun with the walnut furniture, but don't know what to use as a base gun. might try trolling the gun show for a donor receiver.

I'm a Maverick 88 guy because I'm poor and because I impulse bought one before the election because I thought the witch was going to win and prices were going to go through the roof.

No complaints with the gun though, its no frills; but it works. As far as poorfag guns go, I don't think you could do any better than an 88.
>>

That's what they said about .22lr.

>>
I don't care for either. The Mossberg safety never felt good to me and the Remington is unnecessarily heavy. Both have cruddy lockup mechanisms that rob the user of control in the name of safety, I'd much rather have any given Winchester instead. Right now I'm running a FABARMS FP6 clone, it's got the features I like.

thats a straight up lie
before the buyout the guns functioned but the quality was already slipping. the buyout had standards drop even lower. 2006 Remington was worse than 90s guns in quality.you cant claim every rem gun before the buyout was flawless.
>>
>>34328693
Easy there Hoss it's just an example don't let your feathers get rustled your 870 is or was (quality is hit and/or miss in my opinion) a fine precision tool and I am sure the AR fags don't want to be associated with a shotgun fag like yourself but you know that, right?

Read the description, it's a civilian model converted to military specs but not actually issued in a military. Seems legit. I'll tell you though, get the Chinese clones, the originals are not made for modern shotshells and you may run in to some issues. At the very least you can save battering an antique. The Chinese ones are built by Norinco anyway so they're top quality, better than the real ones even.

An older 870 absolutely shits all over any Mossberg from a build quality perspective, even the original Express guns were nice. If I were buying new though?
