Why does this exist? If we really wanted cammo stormtroopers

Why does this exist? If we really wanted cammo stormtroopers again, why not just dust off the old clone scout armor, that shit offers the same protection and is probably just sitting in a warehouse in the outer rim somewhere.

If they wanted less encumbered troopers, why not just use the scout armor we already have? Was this just Palpatine funneling money to his buddies in the senate to feed the MIC?

ITT we talk about how the Empire wastes our tax money
>>
Clone troopers were all fucking clones, so their armor was all made in one size only.

It's just another specialization of the clone trooper. In this case the shore trooper is designated for amphibious environments while scout troopers are for dense forests and jungles.
Is it coincidence that all the clone troopers names now start with S'? Storm, shore, scout, shadow, snow...

Now that I think about it, are Storm troopers supposed to be used for boarding and raiding ships and buildings instead of as foot soldiers? I know they are basically supposed to be special forces but are Storm troopers just another specialization like scouts and snows? The only reason we see them in places like tatooine and endor is because is because both times they anticipated space battles but had to move on land but storms were all they had garrisoned in their star destroyers.

Uhh, no, it was designed to dissipate the blaster shot so it wouldn't penetrate the armor and instantly kill them. The dissipation makes the shot less lethal, but the trooper will experience alot of force hitting him. Therefore they'll most likely be incapacitated to survive another day and return to the battlefield quickly.

Not necessarily, but a show of preparedness and capability does great things for morale. If Vader threw a coup against any of the leadership he would have tremendous support just because of the fact he is prepared to fight.
Look at the great commanders of history, most were at least near, if not on the front-line.

There was imperial army troopers who were green, grey or tan uniforms that design wise are navy troopers...

However, disney has retconned them out and storm troopers are army, marines, navy and police now.

As a medieval/early modern armor nerd, could somebody please explain to me why the fuck you would armor the greaves instead of the thighs? With faulds and tassets it's easy to both make thigh armor that has total flexibility, protects you from shrapnel, and cushions your knee for kneeling and firing. The thigh is a more critical location to armor, it's harder to stop bleeding there, and ultimately if your calf gets horribly mangled by shrapnel or a gunshot it's not -that- hard to operate on. Or in a worst case, simply amputate.

But the thigh? That's the third or fourth place I'd probably want armor after my head, torso, and possibly my arms.

Oh and like all Clone Troopers and Stormtroopers, that armor is fucking retarded. If you notice the way the Plackart is constructured, with it being located under the breastplate, the Stormtrooper cannot bend over. It's impossible.
>>
>>34324886
Once again in old lore from a 1980's tech book, storm trooper armor is supposed to stop bullets not blasters, blasters are prohibited from civilian ownership for that very reason. In early star wars comic books which were also referenced in dark forces, Rebel commandos used legit machine guns until smuggling and black market could supply tgem with blasters.
>>
>>34324920
Star wars is space fantasy with wizards and knights and tie fighters would never fly, same with an x wing.

However, star trek is no better, they pretend to be hard scifi with their techno babble, but the ability to scan an entire planet from orbit phasers that disintegrate everything, teleporters that technically kill and vlone you back to life by reassembling your atoms after they were cut up and moved, the ability to make anything out of anything eith recycling nano machines...Star Trek is just as Bullshit as Star Wars, it's just that one takes itself more seriously than the other.

Now, using Gothic Armor as an example, I'd like to show how very flexible plate armor works and how you are supposed to make a breastplate function. Notice where the elbows are, and notice where the breastplate terminates. Right by them. Breastplates are not meant to cover the entire torso, but the breast. Over the breastplate we have faulds and tassets, all of which collapse, allowing for full flexibility so the man in this suit can bend down and pick up something if he drops it.
>>
>>34329696

>>34329748
Now this is how a plackart is supposed to work. See the leather strap on the breastplate connecting it to the plackart? This is to keep them together and from being wrenched apart. It has enough slack to allow the breastplate to compress INTO the plackart, allowing you to bend over with comfort and maximum protection. It also overlaps a great deal of the breastplate, adding another protective layer. If you have plackarts at all, this is how they ALL should be constructed, not the idiocy seen in Stormtrooper and Clone Armor.
>>
>>34329600

>>34329761
And if we look at armor from the age of pike and shot, we'll see a total absence of a plackart. Instead the breastplate is much thicker, but it's incredibly tiny. Instead we have these extremely large segemented faulds/tassets connected to the breastplate whith protect part of the gut, groin, thighs, and knee.
>>
>>34329751
Those were navy troopers. Navy MP's that provided security and policed navy personel and storm troopers.

To add to the confusion, Storm Trooper Officers wear black uniforms, Navy and army officers wear grey, admirals wear white along with the empires version of the KGB/ghestopo; the ISB army infantry NCO's wear tan/brown when regular infantry wear grey and tie fighter pilots wear black as well.

And that or orginal trillogy! Now with Rogue one, the rebels tv show and now Battle Front 2 2017 everything is thrown out the fucking window and into a blender.

Happy to help, it's just infuriating how much of fiction doesn't have a fucking clue how armor works. The reason why I like Scout Troopers is because it's the only Clone/Imperial unit which could actually sit down without getting plastic shoved up his arse or bend over to pick up a dropped magazine/battery. Basically just a very large version of a modern ballistic insert.

Another question... if you were a Jedi that escaped Order 66 and were living on a semi-deserted planet working as a trader for some years, how would you prepare for the inevitable arrival of Imperial Army troopers.

Would you bug out or dig in and try to fight them off? Asking for a friend of course...

I think I would reprogram as many old super battle droids and destroyer droids as possible and have them provide cover fire for me to fend off the attack and hopefully destroy their landing craft before it could report my location to their HQ.

Of course you would want to have some kind of starship (probably an a wing hidden vertically in the ground hidden you could make a quick escape if you needed to.

yeah i felt that whole aftermath shit was utterly pointless, they killed chewey & shit,

it was like taking the star wars characters & putting them into an entirely different universe.

It was always, oh no, palpatines returned or oh no, his number one admiral has returned, or some bullshit to keep the story dragged out as long as possible.

the only thing they did right was imperial knights

>whistle at the sand people while shifting erratically like an absolute mad man
>Local small Garrison they send to be the initial occupation force gets notified of your presence by sand people but are too small to just send a patrol out to investigate what is basically a crazy dessert man
>Occupation force in the area then learns of you, and ignores you since you're basically harmless

Also I'd live in like a cave or something. Probably want to save like my old padawan or masters lightsaber too just so mine doesn't get lonely.

I'd get a starfighter, hijack an Imperial Star Destroyer, and turn it into a faster than light ballistic missile, slamming it into Coruscant just after exiting hyperspace, crashing into the Imperial Palace with such force that Palpatine and all Imperial authority besides Vader is vaporized in one shot.

Fuck hiding. Fuck playing fair. To fight extreme evil, you need extreme actions.

Stormtrooper helmets have radio equipment and as fin mentioned in episode 7 they filter out smoke and therefore probably any other fine particles such as dust and sand. I find it a little annoying that they don't do anything more like supply oxygen or protect against gas but that would require an airtight seal.

Not to mention that the helmets probably have tactical data on it. Charges left on blasters, maps. I know the scout troopers have GPS navigation so they can ride speeder bikes efficiently. It would be kind of interesting how it would be seen. Would it be little LCD/LED feeds on the edge of the eye pieces or would it be something like a holograph where the information is in their field of view.

I would imagine their armor isn't completely useless seeing as they wear it in the first place. It possibly could be more like riot armor or a flak jacket. More for blunt force trauma or explosives. I would imagine most of the rebels would be running their blasters on the highest power outputs possible, maybe civilian blasters are weaker?

>thighs thinner than arms

why do stormtroopers skip leg day?
>>
>>34330584
It's a minimum of five days to Coruscant from here. Five days during which you'll have to maintain your control of the Star Destroyer's thirty-seven thousand crewers. Longer, of course, if you intend for them to actually fight at the end of that voyage. And if you intend for us to arrive with any support craft, that figure of thirty-seven thousand will increase rather steeply.

I merely present the problems you and the Force will have to solve if you continue with this course of action. For instance, do you know where the Coruscant sector fleet is based, or the number and types of ships making it up? Have you thought about how you will neutralize Coruscant's orbital battle stations and ground-based systems? Do you know who is in command of the planet's defenses at present, and how he or she is likely to deploy the available forces? Have you considered Coruscant's energy field? Do you know how best to use the strategic and tactical capabilities of an Imperial Star Destroyer?

AFAIK, the Empire had it's own force sensitives basically trained as glorified blood hounds

Hiding out on a populated world wouldn't be entirely feasible, at best you'd go a few years before some wild story circulates and the Empire sends a squad of them "just to make sure"

The best bet is to fuck off to outside Imperial space
>>
>>34333092
>the Empire had it's own force sensitives basically trained as glorified blood hounds

One can still remain hidden from them so long as you keep your activity with the Force very scarce. As long as you keep it on the downlow, they'll likely not sense you. Hence how Obi-wan stayed hidden for almost 20 years.

But if you're gonna go and build a house with the Force or use it to get a leg up on your dayjob, then you can most assuredly expect an Inquisitor and a platoon of the boys in white to be at your doorstep.
>>
>>34333172

Also, forgot to mention that they're less like glorified bloodhounds and more like mine canaries, as a well trained Jedi Knight should actually have a relative easy time with them. But after that, then they gotta deal with the the big guy.
>>
>>34330520
Do you have any idea how goddamn big the galaxy is?

In any case, pick an area where the approaches are limited, mine the area, and set up advance notices. Luckily, if they're all in front of you, you can deflect all of their blaster fire back at them.

Or of course, if you were truly smart you'd just use the force to ghost yourself and hide like Luke did in RotJ.

I bought my anti-gun mom who is so nuts she thinks civilians shouldn't even be able to buy body armor and that you should have to get a permit to carry a pocket knife that same pouch. It has a strap thing so you can wear it like a shoulder bag thing. I oiled it up nice for her and she uses it to carry cut lengths of baling wire when she does her wire sculpture art she started doing when she retired. If I told her that her handy-dandy pouch that lets her carry her wire around on her hip when she's working on a sculpture was originally for magazines for a fascist-designed machine gun, she would flip out. I told her newspaper boys used to carry rolled up newspapers in these things in the 20s and that I bought it at the vintage store. I get some kind of weird pleasure out of giving my mom gun accessories and telling her they're other things. She also has a Serbian gendarme police daypack from the 90s that can be seen in photos of Serb cops rounding people up for nasty business. I told her it's an old hiking bag made in the 60s.

Here's a concept art piece of it, coincidentally using a gun pretty similar to that up front. Don't think it was in the movie, though. I loved how they went from trying to mask they were ARs to it being almost a cool feature.
