Alternatively, a possibly less than legal way would be to incorrectly lap the barrel with very coarse grit until the rifling was wore down. It would look and perform just like a shot out barrel but I'm nervous about the legality if I ran my mouth about it because I can't shut up sometimes

Related, I've heard about old timers not cleaning a 22 rifle for better ratshot patterns. They used them to kill varmints/birds in barns without over penetration or to more quietly shoot them in cities

Why bother? The barrel is three inches, and your dumb ass is putting 3 inch .410 shells though it. At this gun's effective range it's not gonna matter if your barrel has grooves in it.

there is no legal minimum for rifling, it just has to be rifled, likewise there is no mention of twist. you could theoretically counter bore it and then add a few linear scratches for rifling and technically still be within the confines of the law.

There's a longer barreled variation of it and as long as I can kill snakes and squirrel out to 20 yards most of the time I'm happy.
Have you ever shot BBs out of a rifled barrel? The donut sucks, no BBs where you aimed and you have to guess how wide the donut is going to be at a distance

You guys are dumb. Send the gun to a smith and have it threaded for a choke tube. It becomes .410 only, which is dumb, but it works. There will still be a tiny section after the forcing cone that will have rifling so it is legally OK.
