Would you recommend bringing your guns onto base and putting them in the armory? Seems like a hassle, and I've heard stories of people using your gun in the armory.
>>
Always call ahead and see if it's allowed first, if it is, ask if there's room for your firearm. Then do the required paperwork, and have/buy the safety shit they tell you you'll need, if any.

The armorer WILL finger fuck your gun. But if you have a lock on it, or it's in a case they can't do as much.

I recommend at least a trigger lock so they can't take it shooting.

All in all, I don't recommend it unless it is necessary it be on base
>>
No, unless you're on the shooting team.
>>
>>34320352
Also no expensive glass even if you find a way to lock it down the armorer will rat fuck and or steal it
>>
>>34320352
>The armorer WILL finger fuck your gun.
The armorer is usually an E5 just fight that faggot.
>>
>>34322434
Former MP calling this out as a retarded idea. Had an incident where an E3 came back from deployment with a new kid of the wrong skintone (saw him for that the previous night) then tried to check out his deer rifle to hunt (or off someone) and noticed his Leopold scope was missing. Armorer claimed no scope on check in (wasn't in paper work but rings still on rifle with loctite residue) and predictably things escalated. Despite a history of personal firearms going missing on this E6's watch his commander made sure jag raped the E3. That was what got me to volunteer for every damned deployment the rest of my contract. Even MP's hate post police duty
>>
>>34322434
I've known like 10 armorers and none of them were E5. All E4 and one E3.
>>
>>34322758
Varies by post size but it runs from junior enlisted up to either E 7 or some warrant officer fuckery (will never interact with them unless a M2 gets deadlined and your name is on the tag)
>>
>>34322818
>some warrant officer fuckery

Calling BS, Warrant officers don't actually exist outside of pay grade sheets
>>
To emphasize this again, any accessories (flashlight, scope, dildo) will be broke and or nicked. It is cheaper to re-zero your rifle then buy a new one
>>
I did it while I was in the Marine Corps, do you have any real questions?
Yes, I advise it, it's safe and they SHOULD let you have your own case in the armory, locked and with a seal on it
>>
>>34319943
Not unless I literally had no other options available to me to store them.
>>
>>34323104
That's only true of WO5s. The others exist. They don't do anything, but they do exist.
>>
>>34323325
W-1 doesn't exist in the Navy or CG
>>
>>34323325
>>34323104
I was making a bad joke based off of a Terminal lance comic
>>
>>34323325
I'm literally in spitting distance of 2 W05s right now?
>>
The RAF maybe but not for other ranks. The army no. The navy no.
>>
>>34323411
>I'm literally in spitting distance of 2 W05s right now?

Then spit and post proof
>>
>>34323411
Go on then, spit on em you fuck. Give em something to do.
>>
>>34323325
>They don't do anything

Then you're observing them at the wrong time of day. Daylight makes them somnolent. They seem to be most active between 2 and 5 AM. Some species can be observed drinking coffee in the late afternoon, that may be a regional variation.

If you have a deck of cards, cigars, and Scotch, you can often get them to come right up to you.

>>34323411
Pics or it didn't happen.

I don't even know what Warrant Officers fucking do. I was enlisted for eight years, and I met one once. What do they do?!
>>
>>34323613
Now that's the question
>>
>>34323613
Supposed to be experts in their 'field', I think the only warrants who do anything are the ones in SF because they usually go the warrant route to stay with the A-teams
>>
>>34319943
Don't do it. Just store them at someone's house.
>>
>>34324256
Is storing guns in a temperature controlled storage unit a bad idea?
>>
>>34323430
>>34323434
fuck no, I'm an e-3. Talked to one for a bit. He's a Brit in the US army doing Intelligence things. Not SF or anything as far as I can tell which is interdasting
>>
>>34324306
Do you like your guns rusty? Because that's how you get your guns rusty.

Op you have no idea the fuckery we do with your guns

>e5 armorer here

(we count it and make sure its not stolen and stuff)

That being said, base CO can at their discretion allow or disallow you to bring it on base, so check ahead (i mean like way ahead) because the CO could be a dick just because you show up one day and expect him to approve your request.

I would recomend

>calling unit in advance and notify traveling with weapons (if you are not yet at unit)

>get a response from the OOD or OIC or CO as to the availability of space, and let them know how many/ what kind of guns you are bringing

>some bases have strict SOP (like 1+ month notice to retrieve guns from armory)

at one of my units, we sealed the guns in bags with an inventory sheet inside so they could not be messed with, and the only person who could retrieve the weapon was that person

I usually just find someone who lives off base and let me leave my guns with them (make sure you trust the person and they have a safe or whatever) just because I don't want to deal with the paperwork,or having to look at my own guns all day and not be able to take them shooting or whatever

and lastly
>DON'T FORGET YOUR GUN WHAN YOU LEAVE THE UNIT REEEEEEEE

also AMA if you have further questions
>>
>>34325260

I have heard rumor some units (CO orders) are now allowing CC on base, can anybody confirm?
>>
>>34323846

in the army
>non officer pilots
>logistics specialist
>boat captains

in the coast guard
>boat captains
>engineering supervisors
>logistics specialists
>ordnance inspectors
>special agents

There are several green to blue and blue to green programs (army pilot can make officer by going coast guard) and coast guard boat driver can make warrant by going army

When I was in I saw a group of WO5s at the PX. They all looked really old, with gray hair and just haggard.
