The other options are stupid. Switching to AR10's is not going to solve the problems inherent to counter insurgency in Afghanistan. Switching to a 6.something will not significantly assist infantrymen to engage distant targets if the rifles are not set up with appropriate optics and built to be heavy, stable platforms - thus rendering them all shit for any other kind of fighting.

Wasn't the whole god damn point of a intermediate rifle cartridge to have a higher carrying capacity, which was conducive to suppress-and-advance maneuvering. Of course you're outmatched by larger caliber bullets, there's a god damn reason why the Germans and Russians found the STG and AK to be better than full size rifles god damn it.

all these retard rounds have nearly as much size/weight as .308. They won't do it. If anything they should be ditching .308 for a lighter 6-ish mm round.
