Who makes the best 1911 today? Which model, which company?
What is the best 1911 historically?

>FO:NV
Mah man. And historically, I'd say Colt made the most well known version (with fudds at least) and sig and para are making some of the better ones on the market now. Kimber is nice, but the price you pay is more for the name nowadays rather than the quality.
>>34314867
Les Baer.
Monolith.
Les Baer.
Probably Colt, but again, that's history.
>>34314867
Probably STI or Dan Wesson.
>>34314929
What's with all the M.A.S.H references lately?
>>34314867
Hey I just picked up new Vegas a month ago, modded it out and am playing it.
Gotta say though, Honest Hearts was a letdown, Dead Money was fantastic, characters and writing were 10/10
For entry level go used Springfield 600-750
Colt for mid range/ classic gi look
750-1100
Dan Wesson for semi custom tier quality
1250-1900
Above that Les Baer followed by Ed Brown then the crazy money is no object tier Wilson/ Nighthawk
>>34315111
Almost forgot
STI would similar to Dan Wesson, but they don't do quite as much handfitting. If you want a double stack 1911 that would be the way to go

Historically? As in "Pure Quality"?
"Union Switch and Signal" followed very closely by "Singer".
The majority of Colt's pre series 70 offerings are still excellent, followed by the other contract makers.
I've yet to see a modern maker that holds a candle to the makers of the classic era. Of them, Norinco came the closest, followed hard by Ruger.
For foreign makes, (other than the aforementioned Norinco) the Argentine Systema 1927's are excellent, and the 1914 "Konigsberg" 1911's are superb.
That aside~
I'm still wondering if Kimber ever sorted their ejector bullshit out. I made enough to buy a truck (Used but serviceable F-150 with tool box bed) just by fixing their shitty ejector installs.

At first I thought the same about honest hearts but then I found this guy
>>34315187
Aw shit I forgot about that rifle, now I need to go back
>>34314867
Apparently A Light Shining in Darkness is based on the Colt New Agent. So you could have your very own if you like.
I kinda want one and I kinda don't. Those trench sights are just so oddly alluring.
I got a wild hair up my ass and got a Sig TacOps 1911 a few months ago. I've been pleasantly surprised by it. It's not the best but in terms of production 1911 it beats the shit out of Ruger and Springfields 1911s IMO.
>>34314867
For the money, probably Colt Series 70.
>>34314867
Today? Dan wesson bruin, 10 memeter
Historically? Well MARSOC is very fond of their kimber 1911's.
Of all the 1911's ever made, which would make Browning the most proud?
>>34315233
They are objectively most aesthetic, imagine a 1911 with trench sights and a monolithic slide
>>34315532
I love that penis (look) on pistols, like on the VP70 or the Steyr GB.
>>34315096
You'll get a kick out of Old World Blues if you like the writing.
>>34315676
USP
possibly Wilson Combat now. Colt historically.
>joke option: Kimber
When I'm alone at night and I close my eyes it's Itacha's 1911 I see
Great 1911s made today:
Colt and Springfield
Dan Wesson
Baer
Wilson
I've owned those brands and put MANY rounds thru them. Good guns.
I've had two rugers and two kimbers that were steaming piles of shit.
>>34315129
Singers are better made than Unions
t. Held and compared both
Seems like Colt and Dan Wesson are the consensus.
>>34318420
For the "reasonable price" range yeah. I mean Wilson etc is better but those are guns most people wouldn't buy to carry them because price
>TFW one of my own designed the 1911
The Michelangelo of American Firearms is spinning a 1911 around his finger in the celestial kingdom. Feels good, man.
>>34318867
Who's the guy in the picture?
>>34318925
Eugene Stoner, one of the greats
>>34318925
>Mikhail Kalashnikov
Obviously.
Get out of here, no guns.
>>34318987
Eugene Stoner, huh? Sounds like a queer.
>>34319000
>t. nigger
>>34315129
>Kimber ejectors
I have a Warrior and so do two of my buddies who that bought theirs because of how nice mine worked. I haven't had any problems and neither have either of them. I've owned mine about 9 years and have put ~5000 rounds though it, and one of my friends has even more money to spend on .45, and has put an average of a case per year through his, in the 7 years he's owned it.
He's put an extractor and a recoil spring in his, and I've bought a replacement recoil spring for mine, but my original isn't quite out of spec yet.

If you're spending less than 800, just get a Rock Island.
