Well, in my car, I would use the pistol on my hip, and at home, if they catch me by surprise, it'd be the pistol on my bedstand, or if I hear them coming, I'd get the AR out of the safe.

Just bought a 2007 toyota tundra.
It has a huge center console, maybe 20" diagonally, foot deep.
I think I can cram a draco pistol in there.
The P90 was literally designed for this but it's too thick.

Except that can harm you. I dunno, people who coddle their guns just kinda irk me. Unfortunately, it's also an invitation to gun-stealing jackasses. 30 years ago about half the trucks in town had gun racks, most with guns in them at any given time. I haven't seen one in years, even empty, even though it's legal here.

My AR looks damn near like the day I first got it, and my edc has PLENTY of fading paint/scratches from years of un/holstering it every morning/night and mild patina from years of my fat ass sweating under my shirt onto it.

Guns are first and foremost, and ultimately TOOLS, you keep your tools in the best shape you can so they continue to be usable. You don't just intentionally or negligently fuck em up so it looks like they're well used.

And also; the wear from neglect or abuse is pretty goddamn easy to tell from the wear from sustained use, so it's not going to look "cooler" to anyone beyond noguns and the very initial entry level hobbyists, you're just going to look like a jackass.
