Couple Questions.

Let's say all hell is breaking lose, civilization is breaking apart, there's already a 60% drop in the world population since a catastrophic plague has began.

There are also now Fleshgates/Skinwalkers preying on people, and some serious demonic end of world things going on.

You MUST forage to survive since agriculture/power has been impossible for a while given society's collapse.

What gun do you choose as your companion for patrolling the wasteland that is now America/your home country.

Allegheny national forest is getting all kinds of weird since the state resumed quarrying operations. Lots of displacement of things from where they belong to where they don't. Ecological and social imbalance, disturbing things that should not be disturbed, etc.

Marijuana plots hiding in plain sight with booby traps, not for animals, but for people snooping who shouldn't be (or in the case of the two rangers, should be). Never ran into it myself but we got advice about some of the "not-recently-surveyed" areas we should keep to the buddy system.

Last trip we found a really long concrete pipe, like a sewer or rainwater control tunnel, about 1 meter diameter, running underneath a hill. Could see faint sunlight from the other side. I sent my buddy to the other end and jokingly said I'd race him, and then of course like an idiot proceeded to belly-crawl to see how fast I could go. Just a few seconds in I was laughing and grunting and got interrupted by this horrific ear piercing screech, like a coyote or hyena call. I nope'd the fuck out, found my friend and asked what the fuck that was, he said he didn't hear anything. I peeked down the other end of the tunnel and looked through and it was blocked, no daylight. So I didn't explain and we got the fuck out. I now always carry in the woods, after that and a few other close calls from the trip

It'd be cool if this thread could last a few days, actually; this weekend is the Pagan Midsummer festival. Anybody going /innawoods/ for it?

To celebrate, you make the biggest goddamn fire you can, making sure to place a witch at the top of it.

If you can't find a witch then some kind of representation will do the trick.

Otherwise, any forest-related revelry will do the trick, so long as it's at night.

Oh for sure. I try to make a trip out there every month or so, I keep getting this recurring nightmare about a really specific spot by a stream that I've been trying to track down, and it's always the same place. Every time it comes up I get a tiny bit more detail and I think I got a path junction nearby that I can finally use as a reference. So I don't want to conclude anything until I make it that far for real and see what the fuck is so important that I keep getting these visions.

Every single time it's accompanied by sleep paralysis too, which is the absolute worst. When I'm camping in the forest I get the same sort of "oh shit" clamping feeling even before I fall asleep sometimes, I think that's how I know i'm getting closer.

The hardest part is making excuses to bring my friend with me, since I don't think he'd believe me about the vision and I'm too scared to go alone. So I always play it off as if we're scouting the land for good shooting spots. My next excuse will be geocaching.

Sometimes, I go out around dusk or ill get up super early at like 2 am, get my usual edc together and go for walks in the woods or around my town. >>

Not that anon, but I'm a USFS employee and can give you the basic rundown of getting employment with our agency.

So, the basics are the following:

>two year degree helps get your foot in the door, especially if you go/went to a school that has a forestry program
>Extra curricular stuff that's related to natural resources works FFA forestry team, plant id, scouting etc.

For example, in my case I've got a 2 year degree in forestry and natural resources, but also have coursework in soil hydrology and structure, as well as training in both wildland fire suppression and fire ecology... and that's not even counting the weird trainings I've taken as a result of just volunteering for them at work (EG nuclear disaster response and post-strike ecology/forestry... it's weird, the more I learn about nukes the less afraid I am.)

Anyway sidetracked, to continue:

>Go to USAjobs.gov and learn that website inside and out.
>now make your resume, use the shitty "resume builder" on usajobs as a guide, but create your own format. And list EVERYTHING that may even be remotely relevant. My current federal resume is 7 pages single spaced.

Next, take note now, the hiring season for next year's spring/summer starts in november because october is the end of our fiscal year. so you'll be seeing a shit ton of seasonal positions being posted starting then and continuing through march, even april. Now take note, not all these positions are real, they're just a list to be drawn from regionwide.

Once you've found your listing, apply immidiately, and the locations you select, you'll either want to call the local contact information, OR if there is no contact information, you can usually find the right info by googling "USFS [town, state]", calling the district office, and introducing yourself as "hi I'm anon, I just applied for X seasonal position for next season, can you please transfer me to whoever the supervisor for that position might be?"

[c]

Canadian_death_moose.png
130KB, 848x1061px
>>34318728

The basic shit you need to be asking is:

>what kind of "x" position is this
>when they expect to be processing applications
>expected start date
>is there possibly seasonal housing (usually goes primarily to fire crew first)

For example, a recreation technician can range anywhere from working as a janitor for all the camp sites, to working in the backcountry for weeks clearing brush and downed trees across trails, however the forest region will fly everything unser one catchall position.

On the USDAFS site that you actually submit the application through there will be a quiz, if you even have remotely close to the experience listed, select the tick mark. it'll be stuff like:

Out of the following, what tools have to used/worked with:
Hammers
saws
post pounders
pulaskis
shovels
chainsaws
power drills
etc
etc.

And so on down the line.

Additional notes, in the USFS: Rangers generally refer to the district ranger, who is effectively just the district supervisor of everyone.

Also, be prepared to get turned down, and remember, the worst they can ever say is "no".

posted this a couple times before but had something bipedal walk past my tent around midnight when camping in WA, specifically by a creek in the Pasayten. Not a person we were too far out and all of our party was accounted for and in their tents. It was heavy enough to shake the ground as hard as a large man in boots. Felt watched whenever we were out of camp. If it was a spoop i would go with a sasquatch or spirit of some type as we were out by an old cabin at a creek crossing. Dont think it was a dog man knowing how they like to behave around people. Could have been a Navajo type skinwalker but i doubt it for a few reasons. Thinking now if i had to classify it probably was a spirit considering the watched feeling went away after crossing the stream and it is believed spirits cannot cross flowing water and the proximity to an old abandoned cabin is a good indicator of that.

I always thought this would make for an insanely good apocalyptic game. Some plague has wiped out a significant portion of mankind, and now fleshgaits have emerged from the woods and their other hiding places to openly prey upon mankind. As a result, you not only have to deal with natural predators and human enemies, but also with a horde of monsters that range from the juveniles (which aren't smart enough to assume someone's shape, but are still dangerous humanoid pack predators) to the young adults (smart enough to assume a form, but terrible at acting human) all the way to the elder fleshgaits (which have been playing human so long that they're almost indistinguishable from us, right until they decide to drop the charade and attack). You'd be able to gain companions and perhaps even start a community, but constant vigilance is necessary to prevent an enterprising fleshgait from tearing you all apart from the inside.

I'll be in heaven, and can say without a doubt, I'd probably choose a holy Browning .50, strapped to a pole going into a cerimonial flag holder. It's going to have holy boolets sprinkl3d in the blood of Jesus, and blessed by God himself.

I've got a spook story but it involves drugs so hopefully y'all won't be triggered.

>Me and the lads go camping for a weekend
>Find a remote beautiful spot in the North Georgia moutains situated on a small island in the middle of a small river in a valley.
>It's a state forest and the closest town is an hour away.
>Me and 3 others decided to drop acid while one guy said he will watch over us
>Day turns to night as we are all tripping pretty hard around the campfire, repeating a cycle of deep and interesting conversations with silent pauses to enjoy the surrounding visuals.
>Suddenly hear a twig snap off to my side and I turn my head. See a shadowy figure walking through the woods but it was very dark but I could clearly hear his footsteps where loud and heavy.
>Think to myself "wow what a crazy hallucination" but suddenly notice everyone else is looking the same direction and the sober trip sitter says "who the fuck is that"
>Panic ensues as we start calling out to whoever or whatever is out there
>We can still hear the footsteps (or at least I could)
>Friend calls out "who's there" and as soon as he does a really loud BANG is heard and the footsteps stop.
>We searched about for a bit but didn't see or hear anything else

Needless to say we were properly spooked for the rest of the night and left the following morning
The bang wasn't as loud as a gunshot more like a really large and deep firecracker
The sober guy and i seem to be the only ones who saw a shadowy figure but everyone heard the footsteps and the bang

To this day it's known as the Sasquatch incident among me and my friends

I dont, but have definitely thought about it. The idea of a snowy night, lit up more than usual by the moonlight reflected by snow, and keeping warm by my own wits. Even with gear, its not safe if I am very old and doing this though.

I'm planning on doing the ritual exactly with the small difference of praying to the holy trinity before, during, and after. Christianity is at its best when it takes cool shit from pagans, and this ritual is definitely cool shit. Gonna be a fun weekend.
>>
>>34322627
i mean yeah it could have but we were 15 miles from the trail head which was 50 miles from nowhere, we had been up there for 4 days and the only other people we had seen at that point were rangers in a cabin 5 miles away the only other people we saw that trip were coming in as we were hiking out. Most people would not hike at midnight through someones camp site alone and go in a direction that went into a dead end in the opposite direction of the trail. That means if we discount debatable things such as spirits it had to be some sort of animal at the least. It was certainly bipedal and much heavier steps than any deer that had been wandering through camp. Not sure what for certain.
>>
>>34324301
you will get more than fined if you poach a deer, the state will take anything you used to poach the animal, just buy a fishing license and fish or small game license and shoot squirrels. I think fishing and hunting are a right but the state disagrees and it is cheaper to buy the proper papers to do so than pay the fines. I just consider it a donation to the state to maintain our natural resources.

What evidence exists suggests many "European Christian" beliefs and practices predate Christianity. Criminals and dissidents we're often ritualistically burned alive in some parts of Europe, and fear of evil magic practitioners and fey beings may have been common. P.G. Maxwell-Stuart has done a pretty good job of digging through what little evidence is available, but suffice it to say pop culture isn't entirely accurate.
>>
>>34322143
Americans can be uneasy about ghosts. Black Americans are usually terrified pissless of them. It isn't just a stereotype. You take Ghettolicious, who's been shanked in prison and shot on the streets, and add a little poltergeist activity and you'll realize that the Wright brothers weren't the first to achieve flight.

I think people of European ancestry have a different relationship with ghosts than other races. And forests are half feared, half revered. Go back far enough and the pagan ancestors were hanging sacrifices from branches in the sacred grove. /k/ommandos with their guns in the woods are the time-stained mirror image of warriors in the sacred grove with their steel arms.

I actually have a story, only semi-/k/ related though:
>work in a pathology lab in the mid Atlantic
>building is a 1960s era squat concrete building
>we have three separate rooms that are called "the archives"
>basically the dry archives is millions of cassettes of paraffinized human tissue, the wet archives have bucketed human samples in formalin, and the cold archives is a freezer bank of about 12 -80 freezers
>boss, the most no-nonsense guy ever, honestly believes our building is haunted and refuses to ever go into the archives alone
Anyway
>be CT radiologist
>responsibility for the archives rotates
>gigantic storm - derecho hits and knocks out power to huge chunks of the city
>Get email notifications from monnit that our freezers are over temperature at about 9PM
>fuck
>I'm the guy on this months list
>get in car, run out to Roberts Oxygen, and pick up about 30 kg of dry ice
>arrive at building, no street lights, loading dock emergency lights are on
>park in loading dock, make sure I have my P229 on my hip, heave dry ice onto the loading dock and jump up
>open the door and I'm hit by a huge wave of pure primal "fuck outta here" dread
>switch on flashlight and aim it at the ceiling so it just washes over the hall
>start walking manually to the cold archive staring dead ahead with the bag of CO2 over my shoulder
Now to clarify, if you've ever been in an ACTUAL lab, they look nothing like college or high school labs. Scientists are dirty claustrophilic autists and labs are generally 50% less spacious and 100% more cluttered than normal people are okay with.
>get to cold archive, leave my flashlight sitting on a table pointing up for soft lighting
>start filling the freezers
>as I get about halfway through, I notice my flashlight is now pointing at me
>turn around, thinking it just fell over on the table
>nope
>stare directly into the beam about a foot from my face
>go blind
>slip on ice from the freezers
>fall down and pull my CCW, grab my flashlight on the floor
>>
>>34327995
Go on
>>
>>34327089
Yeah, but you can't deny that living through a spook encounter would probably be the greatest experience of your life.
>>
>>34325324
Get a bigger gun. I lived up there for a few years with a nugget and that was barely enough to get through the kind of hides you would find, even with steel core and AP. Buy an AR in .338 lapua magnum or .458 MEMECOM. Trust me, you'll need the extra firepower up there.
>>
>>34327995
>im now sweeping the room with my flashlight and P229, but seeing shit but freezers and lab equipment
>yell "I swear to fucking god if your-"
>WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM WHAM
>in serial, every freezer door flies open
>get my wet ass up, slam all the doors shut as I'm sprinting out of the room
>slip
>fall
>run out to loading dock
>I'm now standing on the loading dock gasping for air
>pace back and forth for 5 minutes deciding that I'm just a retard and I need to do my damn job
>holster my gun, grab my keycard with my right hand
>as I'm about to swipe in, I look in the head-level window next to the dock door
>staring directly into a black human shape
>around the edges it looks like smoke is coming off of it
>freeze in place
>can't move
>trying to figure out if I should run or back away slowly
>take several steps back over the span of about 10 min
>even thou I move laterally it looks like it is facing exactly in my direction
>fall backwards off the loading dock onto the hood of my car
>panic, turn on car, peel the fuck out

IMHO, there's a feeling of absolute dread you get that i believe is your body knowing more than your brain does. There is a lot of weird shit that happens where a lot of dead people are. More weird shit has happened at that building than I can remember At once.
>>
>>34328140
Hey- I work at a biorepository, and- as it turns out- MY building is haunted too! Seriously!

The ghost is an employee from the early 1980's who died back then. She was known around the office for wearing too much perfume, and sometimes you just get a smell of her perfume as he ghost rambles through.

Shit- small world.

I had one experience in the woods I'll never forget.
>I was deer hunting in Young county Texas in the early winter, November or early December.
>It was very early morning before 5am.
>I was in my late teens and my dad dropped me off on one side of the property and left to go hunt the other side of the property.
>As I walked down the moonlit road I heard movement through the thick brush off to my left.
>It was keeping pace with me through brush no person should be able to move through.
>The sound was identical to a person moving through the brush stealthily except it's pace was half of mine and I'm 6'1", so it was like Andre the giant length strides but moving through brambles with ease.
>The hair all over my body stood up and my blood ran cold; I have never felt fear like that in my life before or since.
>I dropped my pack and loaded my rifle as fast as my numb fingers would let me, but while I was still I didn't hear anything.
> I walked the rest of the way down the road, and what ever was keeping pace with me veered off through the undergrowth and I was alone.

I had planned on setting up on the creek bottom for dawn and then moving when the sun came up, but I got to the blind that was in the clearing and sat with my rifle clutched to my chest until light.
Whatever was following me in the woods that early morning was very big, and moved on two legs.

Both my father and my grandmother have very similar stories of something like a werewolf.
My grandmother's story is from the late 40's and my father's from the late 60's, but they have very similar descriptions. Neither are the sort of people to make things up either.
My grandfather, mom's father, farmed his whole life out on the range and prairie dogs weren't the only reason he kept a gun in the cab of his pickup and tractor but he never gave me a straight answer as to why he really carried. My mom has mentioned a few things about growing up on the farm, but she doesn't believe in that stuff which is easy when you move far away.

i have a "experience", not crazy but happened bout an hour ago
>be me
>get really anal about other being able to see inside my house while my lights are on (considering ive already had this house broken into multiple times while ive gone to the corner store to go get a quick drink or gone to a friends house, so anyways...) so ive gotten my backyard door that leads to my patio and backyard tinted with "industrial" tint
>have my backyard door curtain open and have kitchen light on, so i cant see out because the tint likes to reflect the light and it basically turns into a mirror but if i turn the lights off its impossible to see into the house unless you have your face against the windows
>grab covfefe out of refrigerator but at this point its frozen so i get a spoon to break it into a slush, think to myself "man, imagine if someone was watching me"
i fucking kid you not, right after i finished saying "me" i heard a light tap on my wooden patio
>nope.rar
>switch light off and go into hallway that leads to bedrooms, i stop in my tracks to hear what sounds like 2 pants legs brushing up against each other (almost like white noise you could say) , so in my mind im thinking someone is about to turn the corner and i dont have a way to defend myself.
>rush to bedroom and grab ar, finally build up enough courage to turn corner
>for a split second see something white that goes blurry
ive now resorted to barricading my backyard door with a 2x4 wedged between the door and frame and closing the curtain and am now waiting to see if anything else happens
wish me luck /k/

Was in bed the other night when my dog started growling at my window (glass open but screen on) which was followed by someone swearing in a hushed tone. I feel like seeing a 6'2" naked strongman wielding a smith model 629 5" would be enough to not come and fuck with that house again.

I mean theres always ireland hall, but thats no ghostly behavior, its just an old rickety building. No, I think some friends and I fucked up brought a skinwalker to campus two years ago.
>be me
>freshman on campus so still trying to make friends
>hang out with kids from the arts and theatre department
>they tell me about this place called spooky hollow
>sounds really cliche and stupid but im bored and tipsy so im down
>five of us pile into a car

>driver is sober and im slowly getting there
>one of the drunk guys is this hefty 6'2" black guy Marvin
>once we get out there the driver warns us not to get out of the car
>once we get to pic related (the devils gateway) Marvin flips shit and sprints out of the car back the way we came
>the other guys laugh and tell him to come back
>after about five minutes of hearing matching screams every now and then we get progressively less sure that he's fucking around
>driver locked her doors and is white knuckling the wheel
>Marvin comes casually walking out of the woods in front of us and scares the shit out of us
>knocks on the door and tells us to let him in
>we start driving off and we ask him what the hell happened
>sometimes he responds but most of the time he stares out the windshield
>about a mile down the road he just breaks down sobbing and fucking demands we stop the car
>he sobs for a solid ten minutes and we wonder what the fuck is going on
>marvin stops and gets back in like nothing happen
>cracking jokes and shit all the way back

shame these are all "i thought i saw something", "magdumped FAL into a bush" "strange screaming", and just quite boring.

For a truly good spoopy story you need a progression of knowledge which leads to a progression of fear upon realisation.

I've posted in these threads a lot, I'm in the guy from
>The Indian's Horse
>The Midnight Watcher
>Farmer Blue

I have another story though, one that relates to the story of the hunter from Texas.

>four years ago
>lease new hunting property with a relative
>scouting
>find the dumping grounds from a dog-fighting ring
>two pit-bulls ripped all to fuck, plenty more bones
>pissed as fuck, trying to keep my cool around my baby sister who is with me
>bury dogs and put word out to local shadetree mechanic that services all the Good-Ole-Boys that I pack a 9mm and a 12 gauge just about everywhere and I don't much care for animal abuse
>December now
>bee-bop on out to a field I planted next to the dumping grounds
>still dark and so goddamn cold I thought about just fucking not
>but there's a 170-180 class buck hanging around and I aim to capitalize
>hear something
>dogs
>ain't no houses out here, figure it's loose dogs running a deer
>dogs get closer
>they aren't hounds, they sound bad as fuck
>get behind a forked cedar, unsnap pistol and lay rifle in the fork because the sad reality is that it's best to kill dogs that fell to poor ownership
>dogs are about to break into clearing
>they "break"
>a few shadows I can hardly see penetrate the grey light, but it ain't so grey that I shouldn't be able to shoot
>shadows dissipate along with the barking
>stand there a moment
>feel really cold, then warm
>climb up tree-stand
>don't see a shooter all day, but I know one came in behind me

I've been hunting, fishing, hiking, camping and conducting military operations all over the lands for nearly twenty years and there's some things you just can't explain.

Ghost shit is scary stuff. Something capable of moving doors that are probably heavy ass things like that and manifesting like that is either very old, very angry, very evil, or some combination of the those.

Apparently I legit saw ye olde devil at day care as a small child, told my parents complete with a drawing of a horned man thing, then that memory was promptly locked away like much of the strange shit that happened to me. Was young enough that I shouldn't have even known what a devil was or what one looked like. Talking 3-4 years old. My childhood was full of strange paranormal shit which is apparently par for the course for my family. It's just that some of my shit was even stranger than usual.

You have a tumor?

Maybe it's just my imagination, but near my house, there's this little alleyway. It's very heavy with brush and trees now, but back in the day it was the road the coal trucks used to get to people's coal chutes. Sometimes I pass by it on my way to and from the gym or the corner store and I'm always on foot. I always get this creepy feeling. Not the gut-deep primal dread of skinwalkers or demons, but whatever it is makes my hair stand on end and my heart race. I'm not sure what in the god damn it is about that little alley that frightens me, but I don't like it. Even in the day, I don't feel like I should be near it. The funny thing is that the store I'm going to and from whenever I have to pass by it is famous for someone being murdered at it but the store never weirds me out at all.

Mine actually happened, so I can't really do much more than tweak the composition.

>up north, at a buddy's hunting cabin sorta near Houghton Lake
>neighbors have been having issues with chickens being taken by coyotes
>buddy has multiple yappy little chihuahuas (that itself is a whole other greentext), so we get a little worried about a bold pack of coyotes eating his little doglets
>well, he gets worried - I'd be perfectly okay with it, but I digress
>seriously, fuck those little doglets
>anyway, we opt to stay up on the cabin porch and spotlight the coyotes, since they're in season and that's legal in Michigan anyway
>buddy uses his AR-10, I borrow his Garand, and his dad grabs some old semi-auto fuddy-ought-six that is too damn bland for me to remember
>we bag a good couple of coyotes that night, until I swing the spotlight across the treeline about 200m back and see this...thing
>7-10ft tall, hunched over, with arms that hung almost to the ground, like a really skinny ape or something
>it's covered in matted grey fur that hangs down almost like Spanish moss. Two small, rough-hewn antlers seem to poke out of its head, which is shaped not unlike a deer skull.
>it just stares back at me with unnaturally bright eyeshine. I can't quite place why, but it looks pissed.
>right about that point is when the smell hit me. You know, same trope that seems to pop up in all these stories. The air just hangs with this overwhelming stench of death and rot.
>whole process of taking this in barely takes me two seconds, but it's enough to send me straight to DEFCON 1
>I had a fresh clip in the M1, so I just start dumping rounds, praying to see this thing drop
>buddy follows suit, his dad too
>I see multiple impacts, but all it seems to do is stagger it

>the thing bolts off into the woods, moving like, well, it wasn't perforated with about twenty-odd .30cal holes
>I look to buddy, buddy looks to his dad, and we all wordlessly decide "fuck this"
>go inside, lock the deadbolt, barricade the door to be safe, and spend the rest of the night peering out the windows while clutching our rifles
>smell persists well through the night, only going away shortly before morning

>come first light, we all head out to that spot on the treeline to see if we can find anything
>couple tufts of that Spanish moss fur hang on the twigs, and there are some splotches of this tar-like black...well, I assume it was blood.
>blood carries that same smell of death, though notably weaker
>zero trail, not even any broken branches to follow - though honestly we probably would've pussied out even if there were

And that's the story of why I carry an StG 58 any time I go hiking. Not saying it was a wendigo, but...yeah, no, I am. It sure as hell was not a natural denizen of the forest. I know it makes for kind of a shitty story, but unlike a proper good ghost story, it actually happened.

That actually sounds a lot more like a Wendigo then most of the fleshgait stuff in theses threads. In traditional folklore they look like heavily emaciated people with gray skin, gnawed off flesh on their lips, fingers, toes and shoulders and get taller the more they eat. The really old ones are the size of redwoods or small hills. Also nigh impossible to put down unless you destroy and melt their ice filled heart. The fur and antlers are strange, through maybe it was a cloak and hat/mask, their sometimes coherent enough to do that.
Do you remember if it got colder when it was there or got warmer when it left? They carry an aura of winter with them, the oldest bring terrible blizzards with them.

Having seen some stuff I can't explain, I'd say there are differences. White walkers are like Skyrim-ass Draugr shit, like literal zombies, whereas Wendingos just look... wrong. Like an old man that just sort of bonded into the forest. They're (alledgedly) covered in tufts of weird matted hair/fur/who knows, but idk about that.

Also, the hunched and almost animalistic gait is different, though I don't know how white walkers move, don't watch GoT.

Again, exact details vary from drunk redneck to drunk redneck, but the major points- the hollow, primordial movement, deformed deer/human skull-face, sound imitation, nani-tier speed, etc.- are almost always the same. I go deep innawoods to old forests and have seen shadows and (((things))) watching in the dark, but Wendingo/skinwalkers are almost 100% in some way true

I'm a bit slow when it comes to these things, but when he says "he knew what they were" what does that mean. what were they?
>>
>>34338037
Fleshgaits.

They are creatures that can mimic voices and take the form of people they kill. They are very strong but I assume enough lead will put one down.

A good indicator you have a fleshgait is the smell of blood and the voice mimic.

I don't really recall it being colder, but it's possible. It was years ago, mind you, and late autumn anyway.

My personal take is that the exact myths regarding wendigo - namely all the cannibalism stuff - are indeed myth. But they originated from something very real.

Looks like you had an encounter with a dogman.

I would stay well away from areas where they're rumored to stalk, but then again that could be virtually anywhere. Conventional weapons fire won't do much good since they're very muscle-dense, so if you're gonna shoot one, make sure there aren't any other options left.

They've been reported following witnesses back home to terrorize them, like pawing on house windows and scratching siding, culling livestock, and even jiggling doorknobs at night to check if the house is locked.
>>
>>34358787
I don't think something with muscles so dense they stop bullets would have to worry about if the door's locked. Could probably just pop it off with almost no effort and walk right in.
>>
>>34358787
Dogman is a Michigan thing m8
>>

I'll post some OC spoop. I live in northern Michigan and there is a ton of forest up here. Really nice in the summer and the winter is cool too if you're not a pussy about snow. These stories aren't /k/ necessarily but they're innawoods. This all takes place in pic related.

First story

>15ish years ago
>Somewhere in the U.P. At the ol' cabin
>Grandma fights with asshole Grandpa again – their fights were always ugly, he was pretty abusive to everyone
>She runs away for the night, takes a 4-wheeler and badass dog Daisy with her. Daisy was a like a German Shepard with I think a quarter wolf – cool dog even when she was old. Always defending her kingdom on the living room couch – keeping an eye out the window that faced the road.
>Grandma drives to Beaver Pond and sits by the water, crying and shit
>Suddenly hear a giant crash from across the pond.
>She describes it: “As if someone took a boulder in each arm and smashed them together.” Weird description but as a kid the visual made it scarier to me.
>The sound is moving, and moving fast. Each crash is louder and hundreds of feet down the coast of the pond from the last one.
>It's getting closer.
>Grandma feels that unsettling fear – what makes it worse is that Daisy is almost clawing her way into my Grandma, whimpering and crying, and is clearly terrified.
>She would rather face asshole husband than stay there any longer. Gets back on the 4-wheeler and bolts.

Second story

>Grandma has a bf now, it's weird saying that. Doesn't help that when they met she was like late 40's and he was 17....and she was his teacher. Probably the ultimate fantasy, but in RL
>His name is Eric. He's actually a really chill dude, looks like a scary mountain man but as weird as it is, him and my Grandma are perfect for each other and are strangley the perfect couple
>Anyways 12-15 years ago he and his friends go out on 12 mile road on their 4-wheelers with some beer and guns to fuck around.
>They reach the train tracks and decide to ride down them a bit.
>Come across a decrepit abandoned 2 story house. The 1st floor is completely boarded up and locked. So they climb up onto the front porch roof to get to one of the windows.
>It's open and they climb through.
>As they go downstairs, they notice the stench of rotting meat and death. As I've found in these threads, that's usually the GTFO signal.
>House is really dark, moldy, and dusty. Empty and run down with fucked up walls and rotting floor.
>They follow the smell into the kitchen and see some creepy shit
>On the butcher block there is a rotting half-eaten dog.
>Suddenly something large, furry, and angry is roaring
>They see it coming at them from the hallway
>They shoot at it while retreating back up the stairs
>Bullets barley slow it down, but it's still running
>They squeeze out of the window, jump the fuck off the porch roof and drive out of there as fast at they can
>He says they never could find that house again

There's some other small incidents they remember. Like my grandma seeing a floating pair of red eyes while she was walking down 12 mile. Or when she was with Eric camping out in the woods, off 12 mile once again, they hear a large group of people talking and laughing coming from just over a little hill nearby. They walked up the hill and saw absolutely nothing, but still heard the voices. There's more small stories I'm starting to remember but I don't want to spam too much

Really nice place in the summer. The woods are beautiful and isolated – great place to fish, shoot, hike, and all that. But there is some weird shit out there including some government shit that I and my uncles saw. I wouldn't be surprised if there are nuke silos or secret bases out there. There is an old airfield that was used for testing aircraft in another town nearby. I think these days car companies use the stretch of road to test tires and cars and shit.

I'm trying to save up my cash for some more guns and gear so I can go hiking in that area. I'm considering if I'm brave enough for a night hike, but I would be definitely bringing my shottie and probably a buddy or brother...you know...just for some company heh...
>>
>>34361564
thanks for the help assfucker....
>>
>>34331465
can you post your previous stories?
>>
>be 17
>at grandparents farm with dad
>build a fire by the edge of the woods
>hang out by fire till 2 am
>dad goes back up to the house to sleep
>stay by the fire with SKS and spotlight
>hear rustling in the woods right across the creek
>throw a few rocks trying to scare critter away
>rock gets thrown back
>turn on spotlight
>creature is just out of range of the spotlight but its eyes are lit up
>eyes are roughly 6 feet off the ground
>drop spotlight and mag dump into the woods
>turn around and start sprinting towards the house
>run into fence due to night vision being fucked by muzzle flash
>dad comes out and finds me frantically scrambling over the fence

he laughed and said i just scared myself and it was probably a raccoon. went back with a 12 gauge when the sun came up. a little bit of blood splatter on the side of a tree. no idea what i shot or where it went but i dont stay down there past dark anymore

Oh shit son, you're in the same county as me. I haven't been to Whitefish Point in forever but it was great. My dumb theory about the spook is because it's a vast forest area that is home to all kinds of things we probably haven't seen or understand. Like I don't think everything is as discovered and claimed as we think it is -even in our own forests. Nevermind the oceans and literally a few miles below the Earth's crust. Some anon said earlier in this thread:
>the woods aren't ours and never were
