Check out the Osprey New Vanguard books. Good authors and they cover loads of great topics.
If you can get a hold of it, I always like to suggest Peter Chamberlain and Chris Ellis's Pictoral History of Tanks of the World 1915-45. It's a bit dated (published 1972) but it covers an incredible range of tanks (and only tanks) that I really haven't found much of a comparison for in a single book, especially when it comes to documenting inter-war tank design in the US, UK, USSR, and Germany.
