Unless you're gonna buy a quality safe and bolt it into your floor or you have a REALLY good hiding spot, odds are good they're going to break into your house when you aren't there and take your gun. At this point you're better off just fucking moving somewhere that isn't a shithole/isn't hostile to you.

If you want a gun for cheap then pic related is about as cheap as it gets. If you want a pistol you want it to be heavy so it absorbs the recoil and doesn't hurt your supposedly delicate bones, so forget the CC ones.

Shotgun and heavier rifle recoil is manageable with recoil pads, which are not expensive.

You need to budget buying at least a couple hundred rounds of ammo, the gun is not a magical talisman that will protect you if you just wave it around - you need to learn how to use it and use it well just like any other tool.

But honestly just look at some gore pictures of people shot by birdshot, it creates painful disfiguring wounds and if the suspect survives you might get your ass sued for cruelty or negligence. Most importantly, however, it doesn't stop threats as reliably as buckshot or slug.

If you aren't an actual nigger and plan on keeping the shotgun loaded for HD, skip the birdshot and just buy a fucking box of #4 or 00 buck.

These are good. Some cheap brands/models you can choose without thinking too hard

Ruger ar15, s&w m&p ar15, Mossberg 500 12 gauge, Remington 870 12 gauge.

If you get a shotgun, an 18 inch barrel is ideal for purely home defense but shit at hunting. A longer one will work if it's all you can find. 12 gauge is standard, it doesn't have as much recoil as people say my 5'3 110 pound girlfriend can do it but with slow follow up shots for her.

Buy any 2 3/4" 12 gauge 00 buckshot for defense if you don't know what you're doing. Buy a box of cheap as fuck 2 3/4" shells to practice with the gun so you know what you're doing.

Cheap shells are normally birdshot, that's a shell with a ton of small BBs that spread out. 2 3/4" Buckshot is typically 9 small marble sized chunks of lead that will kill fast.
