Alright /k/, shit us going down. Terrorist sleeper cells have been activated. Mexican Cartels have invaded en masse, and basketball Americans are roaming the streets in packs, looking to spill blood and loot air jordans.
You've got a team of buddies, you and three others. You have access to a fleet of DIY technicals, which one are you going to be rolling around in? What are your tactics?
No MRAPS only low tech options.
Just drive around in a RR jeep shooting the enemy with the main gun at point blank range and hosing down everything with small arms from the rest of the crew
The secret is to never stop and never aim.
Bonus points for attacking entire buildings this way.

>>34302752
Some sort of pickup truck with a 50 cal as well as a couple of recoilless rifles or TOWs would be the best, imo. The 50cal can work effectively for both anti-infantry as well as dealing with other technicals and most buildings, and the recoilless rifles/TOWs will be good for dealing with stronger buildings or a more heavily armored vehicle.

Not much room for a gunner is there? Also forgive my ignorance since I haven't been in the four-wheeling scene for about 10 years but what is the point of having big wheels on a rig like this? Back in my day the go-to was 16" wheels with 34"-36" tires so you could run them at ~10 psi or less when you went off road. Now I'm seeing these lifted rigs with bigass wheels that would get beat to shit if you tried running your tires at low pressure.

Probably just some small trucks with some extra steel bolted on important spots and a gunner's chair installed in the bed. If I could get my hands on an old deuce and a half or better yet, a Duck, that would be what I'd want.
What I'd REALLY want if I could pick anything would be a Stuart light tank.
I am a bit curious as to why SpecOps uses Tacomas. Is it that they're reliable and easy to fix? That's how I like my stuff too and I'm going to be making a first vehicle purchase hopefully soon once I stop being a NEET and get my license (couldn't before now as I'd get motion sickness in vehicles).
I see Toyota stuff on Craigslist that need repairs and are quite inexpensive every so often and I'm curious if it'd be worth it or not.

The 4Runner did start before the Tacoma. It was based on the Hilux/Pickup and was called the Hilux Surf in other markets. The generation 3 4Runner was then based off of the Land Cruiser Prado and they all have been since. The Tacoma was/is a clean sheet design, not a Hilux.

>>34310166
Sure but outside of the diesel models the Tacoma and Hilux used the same engine, there really can't be that much that's different about them, the only significant thing I can see is the Hilux little simpler in terms of luxuries and has a slightly higher weight rating.
