Wut? They're still doing okay. The only big loss they've had was the XM8 not getting adopted, but that's not really big deal market-wise since neither did any of its competitors. It still found sales in SE Asia. The MP5 isn't a big seller now, but that's true for all SMGs. The MP7 has found some favor with SOF all around the world and (though I personally dont think it offers anything special) the 416 is selling like fucking wildfire, some countries even have it as a service rifle. There was the G36 thing, but its now clear that it was all just a meme generated by some minister to generate political capital, though it may have affected sales regardless of its factual accuracy.
IDK, I just dont see how they've "fallen", especially compared to colt who has spent the last 20 years in a permanent state of 10 seconds to midnight.

Have a basic GI style gun priced reasonably like the current 1991 models go for (750-800) but have it be the reproduction series 70 guns for people who want nostalgia and a base to build a custom off of, the mid level 1911 market is saturated and colt offers the only thing in that price and quality range that isn't a kimber look alike with tactical bullshit all over it.

The other model should be the custom shop Special Combat Government. Built to order and to a semi custom shop standard, like Wilson or Nighthawk.

Colt 1911's are great. I have never heard of issues compared to many other guns. Someone i know posted a picture of their sig's safety snapped in half. People bash colt and i'm not sure why. The 1911's are well priced and well made. Mine has never jammed and is a joy to shoot. Can't say the same for the Rock Island i foolishly bought to save a few hundred bucks.
