If this had actually happened, I would've stopped the kid myself instead of going to find the RSO. Every range I've ever been to puts safety above fun so if you see someone doing stupid shit or about to do stupid shit, you should call ceasefire and then call the RSO over.

Also, most ranges have a strict set of rules for shooting disciplines such as no rapid fire (my range enforces a 2 second count between shots), no dual wielding, rules for cross draw holsters, etc. Having two handguns uncased on the table at once would get him kicked out.

Kind of a horror story. When I lived in Oregon I took my wife to the range after getting her a Glock 19 to carry. While we're there an old couple pulls up, and I mean old. The woman looks to be in her 70s and is stick thin. We pay them no mind until the woman comes walking up to us holding a Beretta 92, mag in, finger on the trigger pointed at us. I slowly reach out and turn her down range and ask what's up. She said she couldn't load it and if I could show her how.

So I show her how to load the magazine, rack the slide etc. And then tell her the 4 rules of firearms safety. They were nice and while talking they also brought out an old Mauser pistol in (I think) .25 ACP that was made in the 20s. They said the Beretta was bought in the 80s and it was in great shape. If I'd had cash I would have bought it right there. Eventually they tell me they're on vacation from Canada and they had brought the guns with them.

The rest of the trip they kept coming over for every problem they had, flagged us a couple more times, really souring the whole trip for my wife. They were nice, but totally incompetent.

Another time when I was at the range in highschool with my dad we met an old dude in a wheel chair hip firing an AKMS with a drum. He said it was just like his M1A1 Thompson that he carried in Korea. He had the biggest grin while he was dumping rounds down range.

I was at an outdoor range maintained by the Forest Service, usually not crowded, probably ten lanes and 3-4 shooters most days. Had a couple pull up and bring their range bag over with their guns. She had some small wondernine and he had two or three full size handguns. They got out of the car bitching at each other, continued the argument as they were setting up. Both of them slamming their boxes of ammo down, cursing, loud, barely paying attention to what they were doing, stopping to argue more and then going back to setting up. Looked like a couple trying to cook dinner while actively fighting about the bills.

If their goal was to clear the range, they accomplished it. Guy next to me made eye contact and shook his head, started packing his stuff and I followed suit. As we left they were just walking their targets downrange, still waving their hands and yelling. I wasn't nearly as worried about them shooting each other as I was them sending an ND to God knows where.

I never argue at the range, or even confront someone who is being unsafe. I just fucking leave. Why the fuck do I want to get into a confrontation with some unsafe asshat who I never have to see again? Being hotheaded while armed leads to dumb mistakes.

Some SKSs can take mags from the factory and all of them can be bubba'd to take them with varying success. A SKS that isnt cleaned properly can wind up having the firing pin get stuck, which can result in it slam firing from the bolt going forward. Some SKSs have sears in the trigger group that are unsafe from the factory and allow the gun to fire when dropped or jostled hard enough.
