The sailors were drowned in their beds that berthing they were in collapsed on them from the impact

F

I don't find any of this fucking funny these bastards died drowning and trapped in agony
>>
>>34288430
Did they even survive the impact or were they dead upon collision?
>>
>>34288317
>>34288405
They could not access the lower berthing because the entire compartment collapsed and crushed in probably from the bulbous bow of the merchant ship.

Had to wait until they could at least weld a blank over the holes or the divers got in from the hole on the outside and remove the bodies one of the two.

If it turns out that container ship altered course intentionally and caused this the crew should be investigated for terrorism there is a serious Islam problem in the Phillipines right now this would not be out of the question and it's clear the container ship pulled a crazy Ivan for some reason from the AIS data
>>
>>34288452
They were probably still alive and trapped in the debris
Naval autopsy report will determine for sure but the cause of death appears to be drowning not crush
>>
>>34288452
if i can see what she looks like below the waterline, I could make an educated guess. though i'm guessing the compartment flooding so fast that they drowned just as they realized something was wrong.
>>
>>34287888
That's understandeable though, they're literally driving blind while trying to be as sneaky as possible, like two fags tiptoeing towards the same gloryhole booth with the lights out.

Can't be an islamic attack. If it was they would have boarded after colliding, backed up and tried again, or otherwise continued to drive into the hull rather than turn out.

Transcripts have been released of the radio traffic that night.

>USS Fitzgerald: At least you can talk. Who are you?
>ACX: It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan.
[Flanking Speed]
>ACX: No one cared who I was until I started maneuvering.

>USS Fitzgerald: Was getting intercepted part of your plan?
>ACX: Of course...

>If it turns out that container ship altered course intentionally and caused this

Even if the container ship *tried*, the Fitzgerald should have been able to avoid the collision.

It's an Arleigh Burke class destoyer, top speed 30 knots, with excellent long-range radar and electronics. It should have (a) been able to see them coming a long way away, and (b) take avoidance maneuvers.

So either the Fitz was already in some kind of trouble, or the commander and crew on duty fucked up big time.
>>
>>34288732
If they were doing an emissions control drill wouldn't the radar be off?
>>
>>34288704

Shut up nigger it was valiant effort and got a chuckle out of me
>>

>>
It was the Fatniks fault.

look at the way the ships were moving. The Cargo ship was turning but for such a big ship to turn it can take 30 minutes. While the Navy ship didn't even notice anything and kept going straight.

So wait the cargo had the time to make a U-turn and go back while the Fitz was basically still in the same spot? Why were they not moving in a shipping lane of all places?
>>
>>34291646
Possibly the Fitz was already dealing with some kind of failure that left them with little manouvering ability? If so it lead to a possible chain of events that results in the collision

>Crystal is pootling along minding their own business
>suddenly almost run into something in the middle of the night that isn't squawking location info
>take evasive action, resume course
>after a little bit of deliberation/waking up the captain decide to go back to investigate/offer assistance to unknown vessel presumed to be in trouble and possibly without any power
>turn around, head back to approximate location of vessel
>meanwhile Fitz has continued making a few knots speed north, is now in the path of the returning Crystal
>Crystal again fails to spot Fitz either on radar or visually
>locates Fitz with bow
>FUG
>Crystal hangs around briefly until Fitz indicates they do not require immediate assistance, fucks off back towards Tokyo

It's still pretty far fetched although frankly every possible explanation for this so far is about as bizarre if not more so, and is still a series of events with major unanswered questions.
Why if they were struggling with an issue that left them with little mobility did the Fitz not switch on their AIS? If they were in the middle of the pacific somewhere there would be little chance of an accident, in the middle of a busy shipping lane making sure you don't get dinked by anything should be a significant concern.
Why was the Fitz unable to detect the Crystals approach, apparently twice in this scenario? Even if for some reason they were also running with zero emissions of their own, they should have been able to detect the nav radar from the Crystal, unless that was also switched off for random reasons.
Why if the Crystal did indeed have a near miss with the Fitz initially did they not manage to make radio contact with each other? Would normally be a first priority in such a situation.
>>
>>34291833
I'm unfamiliar with USN procedures but if the destroyer had a mechanical failure in a high traffic area shouldn't they have woken up the CO as well?

Bullshit.

There is only one possible explanation for this, only one group of people who could pull this off.

It was the fucking Jews.

We all know cargo container ships just bounce off destroyers, proper military vessels. The impact was in the shape of the bill hooked shekel snaffling shark.

Are Ameri-mexicans blaming MUH RUSSIANS for this? Here comes another set of sanctions against Putin and co. Hackers must have hacked radars and collision avoidance systems.
>>
>>34291646
>Fitz was basically still in the same spot
The DD track doesn't show on that map. We don't know how and if they maneuvered.
>>
>>34291954
i thought it was settled that this happened because both captains were chinks. they can't even drive cars so it's pretty clear what happens if they take control of something bigger.
>>
>>34291885
If they didn't feel there was an immediate threat to the vessel or mission and that it was something fixable then probably not, I doubt the captain would take kindly to being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night to be told "X has broken again, it'll be fixed in a bit, won't affect our tasking" instead of just being told about it in the morning to explain why they lost an hour in the night.
If we run with this hypothetical then maybe the original issue was something eminantly fixable, and the Fitz would have been on it's way in another 10 minutes if not for getting speared.
As I said in that post, every series of events that can be dreamt up to result in the collision occuring requires a bunch of bad decisions and bizarre 'maybe if' things to happen, maybe they were right royally fucked and should have had the captain on the bridge but didn't, it almost certainly wouldn't be the only thing done wrong by the crew on duty aboard the Fitz.

So that camo pattern is too effective now, huh ?
>>
>>34291833
>Possibly the Fitz was already dealing with some kind of failure that left them with little manouvering ability?
Not necessarily. Remember, the Fitz weighs 9000 tons, and can't exactly turn on a dime. In addition, while I don't know what the weather was like, but shit tends to happen fast, especially in low visibility.
Take the USS Eaton collision. A quick google netted the Wisconsin's deck log: http://www.usswisconsin.org/wp/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Deck-Log-6-May-1956.pdf
There was less than a minute between radar contact and collision, and *six seconds* of warning after visual contact. Keep in mind, this occured at four in the afternoon. Assuming the Fitz was either running an EMCON drill, or had some sort of malfunction with her nav radar, it's possible they only had minutes of warning, by which point it very well may have been too late.
>>
>>34291995
I'm an officer in my country's Navy. The captain of my ship would definitely expect to be called on the phone for pretty much any mechanical failure and would never chastise me for calling if I was in any doubt.

Former USN QM; it's entirely possible they were simply at restricted maneuvering for plenty of very, very mundane reason.

That, or as >>34294394 says they had EMCON going. Or a JOOD just didn't look at the radar for 15 minutes

>>34291833
But I'm not buying the Crustal turning around to help them
>>
>>34296166
yes but if they knew they were in or near a busy shipping lane, it seems like someone was, or multiple someones were, negligent somehow?

It's PL flagged but everything I read says it was Japanese-owned and based in Yokosuka. I assume it was registered there for tax and regulatory reasons, similar to the numerous ships that fly the Liberian and Panamanian flags despite never going anywhere near those countries.
>>
>>34296289
I'd need to see the nautical charts, because I don't know if they were in a shipping lane or not. If they were, then it's likely what the Crystal did was even more reckless (depending on the layout)

The maneuver is fairly extreme and not premeditated -suggests radio silence. A case of going back to see if there was a problem? The triangles are minutes right? Seven minutes is rough time to get the Captain on the bridge and make a decision about whether to turn back to a stricken vessel.

>Seven minutes is rough time to get the Captain on the bridge and make a decision about whether to turn back to a stricken vessel.
Shouldn't the OOW have just made the call to either stop the destroyer or maneuver around the crystal? Shouldn't they have been blasting on the horns to say "I'm altering to [port/stbd]/I intend to overtake you on your [port/stbd]" or had the proper running lights on for saying it's got everything busted up and can't turn for shit anymore, or something

like, it seems like the USN ship is probably going to be found to have been in the wrong in some way.

Unless they're steaming at trail-shaft and are going slowly. US Navy warships don't spend all their time ready to go full speed at the drop of a hat.
>>
>>34288430
They were probably dead from blunt force trauma. Probably never even really had time to wake up.
