I have a magpul stock on my 10/22 and it has mlok. You put the thing in the stock and turn it with an allen wrench and hope it grabs. First time I seen one or used one and I thought it was kinda sketchy.

Keymod seems stronger to me, m-lok just makes it easier to make rails and accessories that can be slightly out of spec, while with keymod they have to be held to a high standard.

As others have said it's mostly weight, but have you ever noticed rifles with rail covers? The shit isn't comfortable. That's part of why some companies offered smooth forends with detachable rail sections

also keymod has bigger holes=more weight reduction so that helps my high speed low drag operations
