>be BCM
>Keymod comes out and rails are 100% keymod only
>MLOK comes out... and BCM refuses to support it
>SOCOM tests reveal MLOK is miles better than keymod
Why were they so insistent on keymod? Why did they not want to make even more money selling MLOK rails?
I have a magpul stock on my 10/22 and it has mlok. You put the thing in the stock and turn it with an allen wrench and hope it grabs. First time I seen one or used one and I thought it was kinda sketchy.
>>34286880
Because they hired the fucking guy who invented it and invested in it heavily.
>>34286880
Keymod seems stronger to me, m-lok just makes it easier to make rails and accessories that can be slightly out of spec, while with keymod they have to be held to a high standard.
>>34287090
>I dont know shit about mlok

>SOCOM tests reveal MLOK is miles better than keymod
Anyone with a basic grasp of physics would understand why the rail sections used in Crane's tests favored MLOK.
>>34286880
Because MLOK requires licensing from Magpul to be offishul, and Keymod is open.
BCM mlok and m1913 rail coming late 2017

>Keymod seems stronger to me
It is objectively not.
>>34287136
MLOK is open source too, faggot. That's the whole point.
>>34287109
Anyone with a basic grasp of physics would understand why KeyMod is fundamentally shit.
>Make a great barrel nut/ rail interface system
>Make it with keymod
>Sell shit tons
>Legit company proves what everyone already knows
>Make mlok rail
>1/2 of kmr buyers buy MMR rail
> Sell shit tons of MMR rails to customers
BCM keeps winning

"Q: Why is a licensing agreement required instead of releasing the system “open-source”?
A: By licensing the system for free, the same no-cost access to the system is provided
as with an open-source release. However, this method protects both manufacturers and
consumers by assuring that all products bearing the M-LOK logo are made to proper
specifications and will work with all other M-LOK products, preventing problems with
compatibility and inaccurate or counterfeit versions of M-LOK products."
MLOK is free as in beer, not free as in freedom.

Fair enough. I apologize.
>have keymod rails
>have mlok rails
>don't give a shit either way
>>34286880
>keymod looks like tiny dicks.
>keymod just shelfmod.
>>34287248
No problem. It's a little dodgy that they try to obscure it like that.
>>34287264
>keymod just shelfmod.
everytime i look at keymod i always think about that, every single fucking time
>>34287023
Yeah, the whole MLOK / Keymod thing is kinda confusing to me since I'm not an AR fag.
Honestly, I don't see what was wrong with Picatinny rails in the first place.
>>34287291
>I don't see what was wrong with Picatinny rails in the first place.
Mostly weight.
>>34287291
Pic rails require extra material, while Keymod/M-lok instead cut out material. This saves on weight.
They also claim some guff about repeatability, but mostly it's a weight thing.
>>34287106
I've seen some shitty made in china shit.
>>34287181
I think I'd rather get that bcm quad rail.
>>34287109
>Anyone with a basic grasp of physics would understand why the rail sections used in Crane's tests favored MLOK.
>buy same manufacturer rails for both keymod and MLOK
>keymod rails consistently fail
>b-but muh bias
>>34287181
>late 2017
Meanwhile G E I S S E L E and the rest churn out top notch MLOK rails from the start. You think they would have just bit the bullet and charged a little extra for their MLOK rails to help shill keymod.
why do mlokfags have to make this thread every fucking day?
>>34287863
That complete lack of reading comprehension.
>>34288046
validating their purchase of a $300 geissele rail
>>34287265
Not really, it's the same reason Bill Alexander held on to the 6.5 Grendel for so long. You don't want to bust your ass for something then have everyone else fuck it up
>>34287280
As others have said it's mostly weight, but have you ever noticed rifles with rail covers? The shit isn't comfortable. That's part of why some companies offered smooth forends with detachable rail sections
>>34286880
>hurr the military uses it so it must be gud
lol that's cute I remember my first time on /k/ too
now down to brass tacks I find keymod more aesthetically pleasing thus is superior. not supporting those fagpul cucks is just icing on the cake for me
also keymod has bigger holes=more weight reduction so that helps my high speed low drag operations
