Springfields are pretty god damn tough. And their Gear Up 2017 offer (4 Extra mags, double mag pouch and a holster) is nothing to scoff at.

It's a good first gun OP. Nothing fancy, nothing to write home about, but it'll work for years to come.

Glock looks nicer too, imo. I admit that contributed.

I bought one of these as a first handgun. Honestly the safety features are mostly gimmicks, but the gun is pretty solid overall.

It is also more ergonomic if you have smaller hands.

Nah. Got to shoot my cousin's XD-9: wasn't impressed at first, but then I shot it. It ran like a dream and was a tack driver: drilled out a slightly larger-than-a-quarter hole at 7-yards. I've never done that with a pistol, first time. The Glock 19 feels snappier and less precise by comparison. And this was a standard XD, not XDM mind you. While I still don't like the grip safety, my opinion on the gun did a 180.

This most likely will not be your only gun. You'll probably end up buying more down the line. In other words, you did fine with choosing the XD because you might even want to buy a glock too.

Nah, you did fine OP. I own both, and they are equally reliable. I personally prefer the ergos on the glock, but I seem to be a bit more accurate with my XD. All personal preference, they are both fine guns. Plus you got to save $50

The XD is a fine pistol with lower felt recoil than the Glock 19. It is even easier to rack, so women have a better time of using it.

I have well over 10,000 rounds through me, and it still fucking works.

This is true, it's always, always, always new to guns/automatic pistols. I've never seen someone buy one after already owning another striker fire of the same size/caliber. I have seen a lot of other brands bought later on but knowledgeable people don't buy these things

The XD safety is fine unless you are actually retarded. Accuracy is very good...trigger is a little mushy but decent. Sights are superior to the glawk. Grip/ergo's/asthetic are superior to the brick-shaped glawk. Fit and finish is superior to the glawk. Slight nod to glawk mags over the XD mags for ruggedness. Slight nod to glawk for ease of mag release. Extra mags are good, which you got. And you got it cheaper than a glawk. You did fine, don't let these fags scare you out of it. It is a solid performer and many prefer them to glawks regardless of the company name or hs2000 beginnings. Springfield had done some bullshit lately as a company but don't let that fool you into thinking you got a bad performer. Best out there? Nah, but solid. Haters gonna hate.

As was my XD45 Compact. I liked it a lot DESU. Never had any issues and ate the medley of random ammo I fed it attempting an issue. You could've done better OP, you could've done worse.
