Clone microtech halo and schrade Manila folder
>>34276244
that looks like a nice collection
are those yours?
>>34276197
I recently ordered a clone halo in clip point and a titanium handled bm42 clone so now I wait. How do you like your halo?
>>34276259
Thanks and Yes. But I think the bottom randall is fake. The rest are real and cost way too much. Bark sure does make some fantastic knives.
>>34276373

keep posting pics please.

I'm not going to shill out 500 for a meme auto knife and 450 for a discontinued bali
>>34276312
I ordered a clone Troodon from DH gate and I like a lot. I want to get one of the Halos but it's just so impractical. I carry the Troodon sometimes for light use, I couldn't see carrying that Halo for anything.
>>34276404
The D2 Osborne was my EDC for a long time but it never did anything better then a small fixed blade so I changed it up.
>>34276477
They come with a kydex sheath so you *could* carry it but you'll probably scare the normal fags.
i fucking NEED a utx-85 in my life. where can i get one of these unobtanium pieces????

Is there any reason for me to not get a Ka-Bar Becker BK 2 if I don't already own one? Also looking at the BK5, and the BK3
Anyone have anything to say about the Buck 119?
It seems pretty basic, but I like it and i'll be stopping somewhere tomorrow that has it if I want it.
I enjoy this one a lot.
>>34276312
Love it. It's been my continuous edc knife since September of last year and it hasn't failed me yet.

>>34276312
I just got a troodon and halo v clone, they're way more solid than I expected, can't edc cuz california but gonna test em with semi hard use
I wanna buy a nice old rifle bayonet as a knife, any recommendations that don't require me to sell a kidney?
i have a mora, it cost $10 and works great
nice toys tho
>>34277602
You carry it in the kydex holster?
ITT: SOGfag posts fake knives and samefags himself
Anyone that carries mocrotech is a douche
>>34277479
The handle for the regular one is pretty slippery. A wood handle like pic related would be a lot nicer.
>>34278223
What price range are you looking at? M6s and M7s are pretty cheap, even new. Bit more about stabbing than cutting, however.
I kinda like the older bayonets better, I'd be willing to spend around 150 for a good one. Looking at pic related but not ready to make a decision yet.
>>34278797
The most important question is this: what do you want to do with your bayonet? You say here >>34278223 you want to use it as a knife. Most bayonets are pretty soft steel, and have obtuse grinds which means they can be hard to sharpen and dull quickly. They do a good job of their primary task- stabbing people, however.
hello anons, im thinking of buying a buttlerfly knife for self defense (since this place is full of niggers) and i need something to fit in my pocket, so i would like to ask how can i learn to use one if its some kind of guide or good youtube channel.
thanks
>>34276312
Anyway to get a clone in a decent time frame? Like this one is literally going to take four months to arrive, which is just unacceptable from a transaction standpoint with some chinks.
>>34280654
EDC bali? Benchmade 51. Want more flipping fun? Flyco scales. Bigger scarier fun flipping knife? Bladerunner Systems anything, Replicant or Alpha Beast or something.
Not paying hundreds of dollars for a knife? DHGate has a dealer that sells Chinese clones of $400+ limited-run USA knives for $80 or so. They're exactly the same desu, not like "generic chinese kung fu poster flea market" 10 dollar piece of shits. The chinks just got a bunch of high end fancy American balisongs and copied them with the same materials; hard pressed to find the difference. My regular knife is a real Benchmade B51, bone stock but a great little knife with a useful clip. I have a BRS Replicant clone from DHGate because I am not gonna pay hundreds of dollars b/c muh american small industries. It pisses off redditors too so that's a plus.
Look up kenfong on DHGate and research Bladerunner Systems knives + Benchmade knives. Kydex sheath best sheath. As for how to gitgud, just practice a lot. Don't be a bitch with a trainer knife, the blood is a teacher.
>>34280726
thanks anon.
>>34278886
probably just cut and pry small things. nothing really stressful or anything that would require a particularly sharp edge. are there any good replicas of this kind of knife that are better quality?
>>34280654
Get a cheap auto. In the event you actually have to use it, it will be taken from you and stored in a locker some where for months. No reason to spend 250 when you can spend 40.
Why is there no carbon steel folding knife ? I hate stainless.
>>34277406
No one in here has experience with those knives, because the only people posting about their knives all bought few hundred dollar shitty folders or autos that they'll never use and have to brag about them online
Howdy knifefags.
Been using a Voyager for EDC for a while now. Good size, good locking system. But I'm not a massive fan of the DEUS VAULT black plastic grips. So I got two questions:
a) could I get replacement wood panels anywhere?
b) if not, is there something similar in price, size and design that I could get with wood panels?
Sorry for coming in and /r/-ing, just want some good /k/nife advice.

I work as a merchant sailor and people asked to borrow my cold steel code 4 all the fucking time.
It sharpens to shave hair and will hold a good edge for a couple weeks working a job where I use to at least once every day. Cold steel knives are fine.
Do you guys notice a big difference between average steels and super steels? I have knives in 154cm, S30v, S35v, and M390 and don't notice any difference at all during regular use. Also planning on picking up a Bark river, not sure if 3v is worth the extra money over a2 steel.

Anyone able to I.D. what knife this is modeled after? I think it's some sort of Russian hunting knife.

>>34287028
Whoa there, not making a house payment here.. $19.99 is huuuuuge. I paid $1 at dollar tree.
Anyone know where I can find this?
Found this knife at the local flea market. I'm no expert, but i'm 99% sure it's a Pilot's Survival Knife. I've wanted one of these for a long time, so I eagerly snatched it up.
I cant find any markings other than some print on the 'bolt' on the top:
Camillus
N.Y.
1-1967
It's still got 'scoring' on the edge visible, and just a few freckles of rust here and there on the blade, but nothing a good cleaning won't take out from what I hear.
For being fifty years old, it's not in the worst shape. Yes, it needs some cleaning and sharpening, but for sixty dollars it's not awful; not for a knife like this from Vietnam era.
The sheath has had it, though. It's tough, and tearing in a few places; most notably the ring strap up top. I plan on getting a new sheath made, for carrying it out on hikes or camping.
How'd I do, /k/? How'd you suggest I go about cleaning it? I'm tempted to take it to somebody but I don't want them to fuck it up.
>implying I won't fuck it up myself

so i moved out of CA a few years ago. i want an automatic and a balisong just for "i'm not in CA anymore" reasons. thinking a Microtech just because that's the only name i know for OTF autos. double or single action, and what model (Halo)? and who makes a good entry-level balisong?
>>34287750
the only balisongs worth a shit are going to be the the triple digits, same can be said for autos.
>>34287792

>>34287369
yup, it's a pilot's survival knife, or "bolt knife". i carried an almost identical knife through SERE school three years ago. this is the one you want for the sheath.

How can I properly sharpen a recurve blade with a regular flat bench stone?
It's a knife kind of like this but longer and has a lot more of the edge in the recurve part.
Will it ruin my stone if I try to sharpen it using the narrow side?
anyone know of skeletonized ring knives o compete with the socp?

with some practice you can use the corners of the stone, or get yourself a round stone/sharpening rod

Why shouldn't I buy a pirahana Excalibur
>>34286957
I hate the pocket clip on these otherwise would buy one
>>34277406
Yes, its meant as a woods blade, but bc of rhe weifht and thickness itll onlt be good at batoning. Chopping is possible but short blade means its eh. Its more money but a traditional woods blade like the fallkniven a1 would serve you better
Youll be unimpressed with the bk2 for anything besides splitting wood. A 1/4 inch blade at that size is unnecessary

>>34292762
They are removable.
I've had the meme for a month now. The factory edge sucked, I finally broke down and hit it with my Lansky a couple of weeks ago and it's a whole different knife with a decent edge on it. (I'm kicking myself though, because I very slightly rounded the tip, only lost like 1/32" but it still pisses me off). I've been using it gratuitously quite a bit, for everything from hacking up cardboard boxes to cutting onions in the kitchen to using it for home improvement/hobby projects.
My tentative verdict is that it's actually a damn good knife for its intended use as an everyday pocket utility knife. It's not for fighting, it's not for bushcrafting, and it's not a classy gentlemen's knife, it's just a working knife for people who cut stuff on a daily basis. It's a $350 knife that doesn't really do anything a $150 knife can't, but it's also not a bad knife like some people claim it is. (And FWIW as somebody who's worked extensively with machine shops I totally understand why it costs what it does, it looks simple from afar but there's a ton of expensive beveling and contouring going on in those handles.)
(Note that this picture shows the factory edge, as it was taken a couple of days after I got the knife.)
>>34276180
What's a cheap, reliable and good /k/ approved knife for beginning knife owners?
Preferred for Inna Woods activities including hunting.
>>34282392
Because aside from old style knives like opinels, Svords, friction folders, slip joints etc there's no legitimate reason to have carbon. I have plenty of carbon knives but they have no practical advantage over a properly selected stainless
ZT 0562 or Spyderco Southard?
>>34296815
I've yet to be the chance to handle a Spyderco Southard, but I have a zt 0562cf, it's a really awesome knife.
Aesthetics aside, consider there is a notable
size difference.
>>34295925
Do you want fixed or folding? Generally for innawoods, especially for hunting, you would want a fixed blade.
For a good cheap start; Mora Companion is worth owning because they are so cheap, throw one in your car/truck, but they are not good hunting knives. Take a look at the Kershaw Diskin Hunter (the sheath is shit, consider buying a kydex one for it). Maybe also the CRKT Minimalist (bowie is the most woods useful shape), I find a little neck knife to be very nice for quick small tasks instead of garbing my belt/pocket knife.
For folders though; Ontario Rat 1/2, Kershaw Skyline/Leek/Link, I can list a lot more.
i have the southard. it's good but ehh $200 and change is a bit. i'm kind of weird with knives because i'm fine with using kershaw $20 chink steel knives. i had a shitload of ebay bucks to use so that's why i bought the southard. clip is real pointy so you might want to deal with that somehow. flips okay. cuts fine. operates fine.
my standards for knives are basically "does it cut shit" and "does it suck to open/close"
>>34276197
>almost stabbing the doggo
You should be careful my friend
>>34286974
We have the same bedsheets anon
Are all moras good? I was just looking at some, and there are some for $15. Wondering if I need to spend more on a more expensive mora to get the kind /k/ loves so much
Can people display how they keep their knives, Im trying to figure out the best way to cheaply display all my fixed blades and folders on my wall without making holes. Any ideas will be helpful.
Fuck postage tax. Have to pay double for any knife, just because of postage across the world and currency conversion rates, makes collecting really hard.
>>34297402
Either fixed or folding work.
Thanks for the recommendations! The Mora Companion is fuckin' perfect, will definitely get it, probably in sour apple green because why not.
>>34295631
Easily? A quick Google made it look like a headache
>>34280819
>cut and pry small things
>bigass dagger
It's not the quality of the knife it's the design of the knife vs. what you want to use it for.
>>34286931
not really my style, but nice nevertheless!
were you trying to sell those on bladeforums.com a while ago?
>>34300406
also: fuck countycomm
most of their trinkets just break after a while
last time i ordered shit from them they sent me the same order twice
>>34298456
They are good because of their price, for $30 the Mora Compainon would be a good knife, but for $15 it is spectacular. They are by no means the end all, but a great starting point, easy for anyone to sharpen, and cheap enough to buy A couple and keep them around like in your glove box.
>>34299280
I have no way of displaying my fix blades well, the 20ish of them just Live piled up in a dry drawer when they are being used. I keep all my folders though (The ones worth anything), and my two most valuable fixed blades, in a Pelican 1500 case. Pic related... but it's not "cheap"
For hanging them on your wall though, consider getting a peg board and attaching it with some double sided tape fasteners or something. A peg Port is good because you can always rearrange it the way you like it.
>>34300517
do you have anything nice in there or is it all just low end production knives that you'd expect from the average /k/tard?
>>34300517
Yeh a pelican case is a bit out of range, also doesnt display knives very well, stores them great. Pegboard is a good idea, have watched a handful of youtube videos to get different ideas, from just large sticky hooks, to broom hangers, strips of wood with nails/screws, foam cutouts like in a pelican case, but for vertical tool storage has also been considered. Im sure ill figure it out.
the "namefag" made me lose my shit btw. Cant imagine too many aussies would be here, so thought it would show im on the other side of the world so my shits outdated n what not.
>>34300925
>pelican case is a bit out of range
jesus man, they're not that expensive
a 1300 from nalpack with their nice custom foam is under $100 and 1300 with stock pelican foam is like $50 - $60 from amazom
these will hold about 20 knifes
>>34286166
I prefer my benchmade 530 when I'm on the boat
>>34300517
>Al Mar
Impeccable taste. I only have two and I never see anyone else with one.
>>34301298
In Australia they are about $240min for the 1500.
Can go similar product from local hardware store for much less. Basically same product. Will look into getting for storage later.
More looking for display than storage at the moment.
For example. being an AUS fag. for the Condor Hudson Bay from KnifeCentre, would cost $60usd. Once do currency conversion, and $60 postage. im looking at over $140 for just a $60 knife. Butterfly knifes are even banned her. Country full of pussies.
>>34301482
oh. that's quite a bit. ok, sorry m8
>>34301366
Are you left handed?
>>34276244
Nice 940
So /k/ I'm bored of my RAT-1 so it's time for a new EDC
What do you guys think is a better deal the Kershaw Link or the Spiderco Tenacious. I can get both for about $40. The steels seem middle of the road on both, I've got access to about $2k in stones and I can use them well enough. So the factory edge doesn't matter much. I've always used kershaws but I've never had a spiderco and given they blade styles on both I'm open to either.
Also would the SV35 Link be worth the extra cash
Does anyone have any experience with removing clips with stripped screws? My T6 won't work on the clip screws (but works fine on the other screws, which are torx 6 too)?
>>34302393
I've gone so far as super gluing bit's into the smaller ones or hammering bits into them.
>>34300406
Amazing what people pay money for.
>>34302393
Same way you treat any screw/bolt that is being a cunt. Hit it with heat. Or, shock it by applying the bit you need and hitting the bit with a hammer. Using penetrating oil (NOT wd40, which is a water displacement lube, not a penetrator) also make it alot easier. Some have success by actually applying tightening force to the bolt before loosening it.
If its stripped and your bit cant apply force anymore, then just drill the bitch out and retap it and put new screws in. Cmon this is basic mechanical skills a monkey can do this shit.
>>34302430
>>34302488
Ok, thanks.
>>34286170
The biggest difference I notice is with Benchmades cpm M4
That stuff rocks.
>>34302393
depending on the size of the head, if it's big enough you can cut a slot into it, making into a slotted screw and then just use a flatheaded screw driver
>>34301789
Yeah but it doesn't make much difference to me
>>34286144
I imagine you do this and exponentially use more and more knives to open one box. so you are opening every knife and each knife cuts 1mm until the tape is gone
Thinking about getting a knoife for my dad as a belated fathers day gift. I've decided on either a grippy or paramilitary 2, which should I go with? Price isn't a problem between these two.
>>34300375
Well its not retard easy but its doable.
>>34295762
I could never drop 300 dollars on a knife.i went through the big three, strider, hinderer and sebenza, the first two had their problems, lock stick, fit and finish issues, weak detents, but the sebenza was the best made out of all of them.made it somewhat boring.the strider and hinderer definetly had more utility than the sebenza and a bit more flair. The sebenza is more of a jewlery piece than anything.
>>34300423
I don't know about any of their other stuff but the breacher bars are solid.
>>34302443
Elaborate.
What should i buy for 30£?
I want it for self defence
>>34302968
If you only want to use it for self defense, and nothing else, like literally nothing else, then buy one of those modern stiletto copies.
Like http://www.knifewarehouse.co.uk/product/pakkawood-godfather-style-stiletto/
You'd be violating UK law by carrying it, FYI. But hey, better to be judged by 12 something something.
>>34302968
a pile of bricks you fucking retard
>>34302739
How is it jewelry if its boring?
>>34300758
Depends what you consider "low end"... In my opinion most of them are Mid-higher end production. The knife on top for example is an Al Mar HD Eagle in laminated ZPD-189. And I have a handful of upper end Spydercos and ZTs.
>>34300925
I'm actually an American. New-cuck Jersey fag to be specific. Any odd spelling and such is from me posting that on my phone/general retardation.
>>34301473
Yeah they are not for everyone. Kind of a niche target group. As for their folders, I've only ever handled mine and a little Hawk (pic related) from a sharpening customer. I get plenty of Al Mar kitchen knives in though.
>>34302271
The Link by a long shot. I've handled plenty of lower end Spydercos, they are not a strong point (Byrd is debatable), the very cheap, soft, screws being a big minus. Kershaw is very good in this price range though. I've only handled one Link, and instantly loved it, I plan on buying a s35vn one pretty soon. It's a surprisingly solid knife, not to mention made in the US, if that jiggles your jangles.
Both the 420ch and s35vn warrent their prices, at lest imo, which one you go for is up to what you want out of it.

Does anyone here have experience with Spyderco's CPM-S110V steel? How easy would you say it is to resharpen with diamond stones? I have heard that they can be as annoying as CPM-20CV to sharpen, but the PM2 that I own in CPM-S110V seems to be pretty simple to sharpen, and it feels like im missing something here.
>>34306492
Is the knife wicked sharp and hold an edge for a ridic time?
I have a Military and PM2 in the S110V. Haven't sharped either yet though, but they are insanely sharp.

Thanks for the info on the Link. I've never really been bothered by a little maintenance but I may have to give the SV35 a shot.
Hi knifefags, I only have a Pocket folder(Griptilian) and want a larger, fuller sized knife. I know shit about knives, the Kampfmesser 5000 caught my eye. Any anons advise on this or something else? Was going to use this for general use and some /out/ weekend type stuff.

my most used knife nowadays is a 3'' necker. Big ass knives are something you grow out of. The more you know, the less you carry.
2.4 ounces with sheath, fits under my cycling jersey with ease, great for cutting stuff, food prep, etc. Also my main work knife (I work in IT) for opening packages of IT components and printer toner packs, and other miscelaneous shit.

K31 bayonets are great, especially if you can get an unissued one. But they are made for two purposes only; stabbing bitches up close, and stabbing bitches far away when mounted. Don't get me wrong, they are badass. The lockup on a k31 is rock solid too.

they used to be, the last 5 years they have really stepped up since demko started running the shop, his lock is super strong and reliable, they are priced real well and the quality is top notch, they are made in a newer factory in tiwan and the quality on fit and finish rivals any of my spyderco or benchmade knives

Bought this Tactical Knife at a yardsale a few days ago for 5 dollars.Should make a good multi-purpose tool and self defense weapon.Best knife I've owned so far honestly. What do you guys think?
>>34314525
>Tactical
>>34314525
ghey
sorry/not sorry
>>34314525
Looks like it checks all the marks for a junky "tactical" knife.
>~3 inch blade
>ugly handle decoration
>shitty steel that you need to sharpen after each use
>partly serrated, which makes it even harder to sharpen
>spring-assisted method with a questionable torsion bar that will probably break
>pivot screw assembly (that screw at the top of the knife) with no threadlocker, which will probably get loose from the shock of you opening it over time, leading to the blade becoming more wobbly until the knife falls apart
Tl;dr: It's a piece of shit. If you're happy with it, fine. But it should be used as a beater knife for nothing serious. If it's used for anything that requires reliability, it WILL fail.
If that's the best knife you've owned so far, then you'd be very impressed with the budget Kershaw/CRKT/Other knives you can get for 10-50 dollars. Just make sure to use blue loctite on the pivot screws, otherwise you could possibly be faced with the problem I mentioned above. Otherwise, you should be fine.
>>34314525
>>34314855
also, do NOT use any knife as a self-defense weapon. Shitty range, it looks bad in court, knife wounds can barely stop attackers in some cases. Just buy a gun. Seriously.

Help me with my first knife. I'm in the UK.
I'm looking for a 8-10inch bowie style knife. 3/16 or 1/4 inch.
Right now I am looking at a bk9 for £139. However a Junglass is £149 with a lifetime warranty I believe.
I've heard these rodent swap rats are what I should be aspiring to own and I have seen the videos of them tearing up other cheaper machete blades but is it worth spending the extra money and having one imported from the USA.
Is there anything on par with the swamp rat I can get a hold of in the UK. I don't need a collection of knives just one good one and I don't want to end up with a collection working my way up form a ontario marine raider bowie.
>>34317574
I recently got my first Delica. I got the ZDP-189 version. Even though it's made out of some amazing steel, it was probably the most dull Spyderco out of the box I've gotten. I got it sharpened and now it might be the sharpest folder I've got.
>>34317746
Tenacious is a damn good start. Besides the steel, the rest of the knife has the quality of a $100+ knife. The steel takes a wicked edge, but you will be constantly honing/stropping it to keep it sharp. Also watch out for rust.

hello I have been trying to shop around to find my babby's first knife
I do not have much preference over design right now, but I am trying to inform myself on what to even begin looking for. I guess if you need a budget it'd be maximum $300 for a first time
I don't want to limit myself to brands mostly, but I have been hovering over Kershaw and Gerber. Now spyderco since seeing it posted here. I don't know where to begin other than asking what should I avoid at all costs?
thank you for any helpful guidance
>>34318695
Gerbers are crap, don't even look at them.

and it is going to be made by WE
>>34309450

>>34302271
I have the RAT and tenacious. The RAT has better edge retention and just a better blade in general. Tenacious has better handle materials, clip, easier to open and close. I'd get something with at least 154cm/s30v as an upgrade.
>>34291306
Yes, its really not that big of a knife. The cc models are nicely rounded. It disappears well in a pocket.
>>34318970
That actually looks pretty damn nice for the money, the specs are what you'd want and WE is a really good maker. I knew there was a Ferrum Massdrop knife but I didn't realize it was under $150, I may have to order one for myself.

>>34319312
it's just a shitty small machete
>>34319485
Poor build quality and bad materials.
The first suggestion that comes to mind for me is a Spyderco PM2, it's a tremendously versatile knife. Pick up a Sharpmaker with some of your remaining budget and you're pretty much set for life. (Unless, of course, the knife bug bites and you keep buying new stuff for fun like a lot of us do.)

Need assistance,
Need two new combat knives one for boot and one for molle on shoulder preferably in the £50 range, with a hard sheath.
>>34289990
Ceramic rods could handle that problem well, they don't cost much either.
They don't remove much metal though so if the blade gets REALLY dull, you might want to use something else first.
i got a basic bitch aluminium ceramic 2 sided norton sharpening stone.
I can put a usable edge on blades with the aggressive side. then when I try the finer side. the blade just ends up less sharp.

Only thing I dont like about America is the negative stigma of its people, but youre going to get that just about anywhere, Annnnd its open gun laws, just a personal opinion, semi automatic guns are a bit overkill for everyday carry, im sure its just a handful of extremeist open carry people. but that would just make me nervous, coming from a country that has extremely tight gun laws,

If it was made by any sort of western company or maker (basically if it is anything special), it is not typical for people to leave non visible maker marks.
Leaving marks under the handle is more of an Eastern thing, the Japanese do it a lot. But it's obviously not of Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, ect... design. Leaving like anything you find to a Chines, Pakistani, or Indian mass production shop.
