Let that autistic rage off your chest, /k/

Videogames:
>unnecessary usage of the AR-15 charging handle
>racking after swapping mags and chamber should be full
>pic related physics-breaking bullshit
>adding suppressor reduces weapon damage
>some guns share ammo types when they definitely shouldn't (9x39 and 9mm, 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R, etc)

TV shows/movies:
>EVERY ACTOR TEACUPS
>revolver fires 15 times without reloading
>show/movie set in the 1980s, firearms used were invented in the past 20 years
>character cocks hammer, but it sounds like a pistol slide being racked
>>
I've stopped caring about this stuff long ago, it's stupid to try and find good gun handling from Hollywood
>>
You're the cunt who talks during movies aren't you? Just stop being autistic, it will make your life a lot easier, and better yet stop playing fucking video games, that shits for kids.
>>
Seriously unbelievable how much money is poured into video games and the developers won't even search how weapons fucking work on YouTube which I know they browse on the job to watch their gayboy cat videos and buzzfeed.
>>
>>34274768
>adding suppressor reduces weapon damage
Agreed, who the fuck came up with this.
>>
>>34274841
It's supposed to be a balancing mechanic. In exchange for staying off enemy radar, you incur a damage or range penalty.
>>
>>34274841
game balance bro
>>
>>34274841
In terms of "realism" it's not that dumb, it's assumed your character is using sub-sonic rounds along with the suppressor thus lower damage.
>>
>>34274768
>In CS when you used to pull back the forward assist to charge the gun
>when an obsolete soviet semi auto is now an assault rifle despite never being an assault rifle at any time in the past 72 years
>>
>>34274862
honestly most of the /k/ autism about vidja gaems can be easily answered with either this or that the alternative would be a pain to program while not making the game more fun

like weird ammo commonality, it's to keep players topped up. some games do the opposite and ammo is specific to weapons even if they should fire the same round, to keep players from having too much ammo. or animation stuff, thats the latter, you COULD program in different reloads for different states of the guns, but no one really cares and it's just extra work for the programmers, balancers (since they have to balance multiple reload times per gun instead of just one) and especially animators
>>
>>34274841
Same reason why pistols typically do more damage than rifles, or a semi auto rifle that fires 5.56 will do more damage than a full auto rifle that fires 5.56

Game balance you fucking autist stop expecting realistic firearm use in video games because the most important thing in a game is balance not your autism
>>
>>34274768
>Semi-auto/full auto gun in 7.62x51 does considerably less damage than a bolt action in the exact same round, despite the barrel lengths being basically identical.
>>
>>34274872
Ahhh, now I see why they had that feature in CS:GO and not CS:S.
>>
>>34274768
>Game has two separate animations for empty and non-empty reloads
>Doesn't give you one extra bullet for the latter
Where does the bullet go? Does it just disappear from the gun? Or do they load up the mags to one under capacity if the gun is still loaded?
It's even weirder in MGSV when the opposite is true; there's only an empty reload animation for everything but pistols, yet you still get one in chamber if you reload before your mag runs out even though the animation involves cocking the gun.
>>
>>34274872
if that's true then the gripe is now:
>ammo magically morphs into subsonic ammo at the drop of a hat
>>
That CoD: WW2 fucked up so many things. At least BF1 was accurate with their shit.

>character loads scoped 1903 with stripper clips
>K98 loads with a fucking detachable magazine
>C98 is full auto
>black female German soldiers

I fucking hate games now.
>>
>>34274800
Literally the only movie I have watched recently that had somewhat good weapon handling on screen was FMJ, but that's Kubrick, prince of autism, so can't exactly expect that attention to detail anywhere else.
>>
>>34274768
>some guns share ammo types when they definitely shouldn't (9x39 and 9mm, 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R, etc
This so much, also the inverse, when a Tec 9 and MP5 can't share ammo with the supposed "9mm" pistol that's a 1911 with a 17 round magazine. Also the sawed off shotguns that do more damage than a long shotgun

>>some guns share ammo types when they definitely shouldn't (9x39 and 9mm, 7.62x39 and 7.62x54R, etc)

Sounds like PUBG. I can accept that one for gameplay reasons though, it's much better than DayZ where there are like 20 different ammo types and finding the right ammo for your gun is a bitch.

PUBG continues another of my pet peeves, though:

IGN's COD:WWII firing range vid was so objectively bad it was funny. I was planning on pirating the game for its campaign but the weapons sound and handle so terribly I'm not even going to bother. Not necessarily. The bullet's already been accelerated the entire length of the barrel and shouldn't come in contact with the silencer (unless it's a welrod or something similarly special).

yep, the 10 round base model comes with what appears to be a pretty damn long detachable mag... too lazy for stripper animations or at least getting the length of the aftermarket mag right? it's not like their studio hasn't made over 50 million dollars
>>
>>34276685
everything else being equal, a suppressor actually slightly increases bullet velocity as the suppressor gives the bullet a little bit more time in the chamber, even if most of it is air/baffles. there's a specific term for this that I can't remember.
>>
>>34276810
The strange thing is the k98 has stripper clips and even individual loading

The revolver is single action and actually has your character eject all the cartridges then load new ones

They have decent attention to detail, but it's just the sks that's weird like that

The greatest thing is Cold War Rearmed, the Arma 2 mod.
It adds the original OFP campaign with lots of other stuff, like the USMC,the Bundeswehr, the NVA, the British Army, the Italian army, the Danish army, the Norwegian army, the Dutch army, the Austrian army, and armies from ARMA 1 if they existed during the 80's.

Some of these factions could do with some more vehicles (including the M1 (=/= M1A1) Abrams, and the author is anal about porting it to Arma 3, but it's bretty gud.

Okay seriously, has anyone ever stopped to consider that multiplayer literally does not matter in any way whatsoever?

I always thought of SP/MP games as:

>All the kids go to the theater
>Boys, girls, whites, blacks, Asians, misc races no one cares about
>Everyone sits down and watches the epic war movie (Single Player)
>Movie blows them away, whether it really was good or not (they're kids, their opinions on things don't count)
>Kids leave the theater wanting to re-enact the movie
>Dress up like their favorite characters, grab Nerf guns, and go play as the movie (Multi-player)

No one gets mad at historical revisionism when a bunch of kids of all genders and colors decide to play dress up and shoot darts at each other, and they don't really die, just like in video games.

You idiots getting mad at black Germans being in multiplayer is like getting mad that the kids playing Cowboys & Indians aren't using real Indian kids.

The way the M1897 Trench gun's design doesn't allow for it to have an extended magazine tube (The bayonet attachment on the heatshield blocks magazine tube from going out any further, plus, nobody has ever even attempted to do an extended magazine tube on a M1897 shotgun before since the detachable barrel versions cannot be extended any further either.)

I know 50 Round drums exist for the Thompson, I own a real one for Christ sake, but they are not compatible with the M1A1 version since the receiver doesn't have the cuts in it to allow for the attachment of the drum mag, it can only take 20 and 30 round stick mags. The drum mags only work in the M1928 and M1921 Thompsons.

Even though there were light-powered reflex sights out there, they were mostly experimental and were't fielded to a wide extent. Most of those types of sights were used on AA guns and Artillery pieces.
>>
>>34283611
The best part is that game states it's M1928, not M1A1. Like they couldn't just use proper M1928 for more attachments.

Are people here actually retarded enough to think that someone has to pay a licensing fee for depicted a fucking M16 or AK47?

The only thing they can do is copyright the name. MGSV had frankenguns because Kojima is a fucking lunatic, it was easier to make the gunsmithing mechanic work, and apparently there was a sizable airsoft deal greasing some palms.

Frankly, it's a sign of good things that oddball guns are being included. BF1 managed to majorly disappoint on that front (there's only 2-3 guns per class, what the fuck?) even though there was plenty to work with for WW1.

>> Rear sight on M1 is way bigger than it should be

Aperture sights are troublesome in video games. Sight acquisition is automatic and the games "camera" doesn't have binocular vision and thus doesn't mimic true sight picture or depth perception. The effect is that the aperture sight impairs aiming, since it does nothing but block the view. In a video game, a regular leaf sight is superior because of this.

One solution to get around this is making the hole of the aperture sight much bigger. What I would prefer is that the rear sight become see through when you aim down sights. It would mimic like when you aim with both eyes open.

>is semi-auto

>pipe revolver
>can be made into a rifle that you hold with your arm in front of the cylinder

Yes there are real life firearms which can do these things (except for the .308 revolver, I mean I'm sure it's possible but who the fuck wants to shoot it) but they aren't made out of rusty plumbing.

>"handmade" rifle
>it's an AK pistol
^this was the point I decided they were fucking with us.
>>
>pistol holding more/less rounds than it does in real life

The worst is when there's two pistols in the game that could have the round count swapped.

Surprisingly, COD 4 mostly averted this, even if they didn't have the +1.

Desert Eagle .50: 7 rounds
1911: 8 rounds (maybe it had 8 round mags? it had 7 rounds in single player)
USP 45: 12 rounds
M9: 15 rounds

If you had the M9 and used the MP5 or Mini-Uzi it would actually combine the ammo pools since they all use 9x19mm. It was a good way to have more ammo for your primary before you unlocked Bandolier.

I've heard that Battlefield One doesn't have ranging markers but it lets you rezero your sights.

I dunno if it's accurate but the VSS's ranging doohickey in STALKER is usable with some trial and error to figure it out.

Guns in COD are hitscan so the reticule is just there to make the screen busier as a balancing mechanic.
