I had a few extra bucks laying around and wanted to just pick something up for fun and play around with it... So I bought the micro thermal / FLIR Imager made by Torrey Pines. played with it at work in the kitchen and with my co workers. Actually pretty awesome little gadget.
You can tell a little details on people (RE: Layers of clothes/ glasses,) now this is not a NV device. But it works best at night. I'll post some pictures of it in works. I'm going to not post the blurry shit photos I took of the treelike outside because my phone won't focus correctly on the screen but I'll continue to update if those that may be interested.
NOTE: the Thermal Imager works best outside, in non AC environments but here we go. Images inbound

Lamp from my back yard...
Overall, I only wish the screen was a tad larger than the size of an American quarter. But over all I think I could find some fun with this little thing.

Good idea! That'll make it much easier to shoot niggers at night!

how's that shit work at distant objects? Seems the resolution is too low to be that useful.

Rated fir 120 yards.
lamp was 25 feet out
Pretty cool OP. I picked up a flir one myself to hold me over til the q14b comes out, it's fun to play around with but not too rugged.

What model?
How much was it?
Where to cop?
>>34272072
That's my concern
How well will consumer shit stand up to the recoil of a rifle
>>34272080
MAC mentioned the q14 doesn't hold up I believe, so it doesn't inspire confidence. If a brand new design that costs 2k can't take it what can?

>q14b
OP here, Im getting the Q14B as well when it hits the market.

I plinked a full mag on my 10/22 no issues. (once again waiting on the mount to get my co witness on my truck-gun AR)
I put it on my AR and shot 5 rounds (it was getting late so I didn't want to upset my Neighbors) from my 20" DMR build. Still works pretty good. once again this is only an Imager not an actual Optic, though it does have a programmed reticle on the screen.
Reading what I have, it will take 12 gauge shotgun recoil. Will have to test myself.

Sounds neat op, let us know.

Thanks.
Now, care to answer the other two queries?
Price? Do you think it's worth it? I like the offset mount idea.
>>34271799
That's pretty cool, OP. How much was it?

Overall, hoe would it be in a gun battle at 50 to 200 yards?
>>34272121
Sorry I fail to understand "where to cop"
Price, I found was 500 + tax from a Camera store in Idaho Falls near the Idaho Falls Mall and a Taco bell, I actually just came across it randomly when stopping in with the Wife to look for new camera lens for her work (Journalist)
