I think with a little compromise you could do that. first, pick a 308 sized cartridge in 6.5 caliber. so ceedmoor or .260 Rem. then just work out the trigger linkage to the old triggerbox. I think with a 3d printed foregrip your dream isn't undoable. Just, would be very expensive/take a lot of work to design and prototype.
