How do you feel about the M4 carbine?
>>34265216
A example of why the Army can't be trusted with money.
>>34265216
Should be replaced with an AR platform weapon using 6.8 or 6.5 Grendel
>>34265216
M4 is eternal GOAT
>>34265240
kys
Front facing enemy.
>>34265216
Best firearm Colt developed, and the best combat rifle on the market.
>>34265248
or just not use M855
>>34265216
>5.56
>14.5 inch barrel
pants on head retarded
Misuse of funds
Should have had a slightly longer barrel and longer handguard
Maybe a different caliber
>>34265268
>Shortest barrel where reliability isn't compromised
>Not Colt's fault for garbage M855
>No problems with M193 to this day or Mk262
>>34265268
substantiate your claims
>>34265293
>Developed by Colt, not US Taxpayer
> 14.5" barrels had been used since the M16A1/M16A2 Carbines (653 & 723)
>M855 is garbage, and 5.56 is NATO standard.
>>34265250
M4 is garbage fukboy, after 100M it's a hot .22MAG, M855 was fine out of a 20" barrel but with no fragmentation and Army Marksmanship being non existent. The Army bitched enough to spend a shitload of money on the M855A1 which is only good because it destroys the rifle it's shot out of.
>ACU's
>Striker
If the Marines had the money the Army threw away, we'd have Space Marines and Stargate BC-303/304 battlecrusers.
>>34265326
>M855 is garbage, and 5.56 is NATO standard
Implying the US couldn't bully the rest of NATO into changing cartridge like they did with both 7.62 and 5.56
>>34265216
m16 with m203 and the handguard is my secret pleasure so i dislike it
>>34265351
>>34265357
6.5nerds out in full force today
>>34265297
>>34265357
M855 is FINE. When used out of 20" barrel it outperforms M193.
>inb4 Ian tests.
>>34265386
M855 seems to be fine out of a 14.5" barrel as well.
>>34265268
>be swede
>ak5c barrel length 13.8"
>still weighs 11 pounds
>>34265357
Not enough advantage for a caliber change.
M855A1, Mk262, and M193 work fine.
>>34265386
Nobody is using 20" rifles these days, and M855/SS109 was a meme for the SAW.
>>34265371
How in the fuck did 6.5 enter in >>34265351?
Read Black Chicken Down, the only complaint with M855 was with the CAR-15 the medic carried.
>>34265422
>I read a dramatized book and now I know all I need to know about a caliber.
>>34265216
It's great. M855 isn't, but that's not at all a problem with the rifle.
There are two groups of people who should not be trusted to make logistic and acquisition decisions for the military...
/k/ and military generals
>>34265439
>read reports from dudes that were there.
>dramatized
>>34265216
It's ok I guess
>>34265462
>>34265510
>accounts from multiple people
>Army AAR documents.
The one thing about Chris that triggers /k/ is that had witnesses and operated if that shit were fake /k/ would just laugh.
>>34265547
Did ya buy his book anon?
>>34265565
No, read it while pulling barracks duty. It WAS cringe and preachy in SOME parts but overall I'd give it a 6/10.
Every marine a carbine individual
