Hi /k/ I am in the market for a handgun that I can use for my job. I am on a bit of a budget, what is the best quality handgun I can buy for under $500

you should put that $500 into a roth ira and invest with a group that averages at least 15% a year

Take your pick. Glock, M&P, Ruger SR9, or Springfield XD.
They all work well and do the same damn thing, have aftermarket sights, and plenty of holster options.

/biz/ please go..
actually stay, what if /k/ and /biz/ were merged, what would happen?

Glock, smith and Wesson, ruger or Springfield.
Which model of which depends on you and how much research, finger fucking and renting you're willing to do.
Now git a gun.

The one thing that should be noted about the SR series pistols is they have what is called a magazine disconnect safety. This means if the magazine is removed from the gun it will not fire. People either like this or they don't. Personally I'd like to be able to shoot the round that is still in the chamber while reloading.

15% is what the stock market is doing rn, cre is about 22%, most investment groups target 18%
