Picked up an old milsurp rifle, when I look down the muzzle I can see rifling clearly for the first inch or so, however when I shine a light in its shiny as hell and I can't see any rifling. Is this alright or should I get a better light to inspect it before I buy? Pic unrelated.

Please tell me you are shining the light in the muzzle end and inspects by looking into the other end.

A lot of guns only have rifling only on the first 3 inches starting from the muzzle.

In is very common on long barrels.
