Heading into bear country soon (in Canada).
Recommendations for good bear protection? Also fuck bear spray.
Also, you'd have to be retarded to carry a .50 handgun and claim that its for "bear defense" right? Seems like small pecked defense to me, but I honestly don't know.

.357 magnum with good ammo and shot placement is fine for bears
.44 magnum is better

But a rifle would be ideal. .308 .30-06 .45-70

Also shot placement, even with more powerful ammo is extremely important. If you don't get a headshot that results in brain death you will be mauled to death by the bear while it's bleeding to death.
