Is magpul furniture a bad idea?
>>
>>34247238
its ok if youre on a budget

otherwise its garbage
>>
Most of it isn't any better than GI stuff. Their pistol grips are cozy though
>>
>>34247238
A guy I knew put a magpul stock on his rifle in Iraq- it got his whole squad killed.
>>
>>34247238
a Magpul is fine

but special snowflakes gotta snowflake
>>
>>34247324
Not sure if trolling or hell of a story behind this.
>>
>>34247347
On 4chan always assume trolling
>>
Why doesn't Magpul offer aluminum free floating handguards? I'm sure if they did they would enjoy near monopoly status and force the ripoff artists like Geissele right out of business.
>>
>>34247238
It's decent and cheap
>>
>>34247238
Is it wrong to like how MAGPUL furniture looks on an AR?
>>
>>34247526
I like how it looks on an AK
>>
>>34247347
No one made it out alive, not EVEN WILLIE!
>>
Magpul Furniture is the Genuine Leather of AR furniture options.
>>
>>34247510
Because literally everything they make is plastic and that's be a huge, expensive, time-consuming change with no guarantee of success.
>>
>>34247238
Nah man, Magpul furniture is good even if the fanbase is insufferable.
>>
>>34247238
People just hate in them now because of how popular they've become. Most big manufacturers sell rifles with Magpul furniture options from the factory now. There's literally nothing wrong with it other than the gun hipsters deeming it "not cool" now.
>>
>>34247607
That doesn't even make sense.
>>
>>34247650
I absolutely does make sense!
>>
>>34247664
genuine leather? meaning its leather but low quality? so magpul is low quality?

>not everyone knows how leather is graded
>>
It really isnt if its babbys first ar. Otherwise there are better options out there
>>
>>34247510
magpul is basically an injection molded plastics company. And they are darn good at it too
>>
>>34247694
My first AR was a SIG M400 with OD green Magpul furniture. No regerts.
>>
>>34247683
Genuine Leather isn't necessarily low quality, it's just not as good as top/full grain. However, many people assume Genuine Leather must be high quality. Thus, my very perceptive comparison.

This is my first ar. Anderson lower with a stag lefty upper
>>
It's fine. Its works as well as milspec furniture and it's inexpensive. Just because /arg/ doesn't consider it "gucci" doesn't mean it's bad.
>>
>buy magpul fde stock
>like it
>order a pistol grip online
>it's a slightly different shade
>autism is going off the charts
>bring it up with Magpul
>"but Anon, muh sun, fading, UV, etc"
Fuck em.
>>
>>34247722
>>34247613
But they make the MBUS pro out of steel. And they make a battery assist device and enhanced trigger guard out of aluminum. It doesnt seem that irrational for them to make a shit ton of money off of non-shit aluminum handguards

i went a similar route with my first AR as well. Magpul parts are readily available, affordable, reliably good quality and have a few little neat features like storage compartments and gripping surfaces that give them an edge up over GI parts. my autism also appreciates the fact that every plastic accessory matches and they all integrate that neat little logo into the design somehow.
>>
>>34247510
why manufacture something new when you own the property rights to a fucking ractangle cutout that other people can do instead?

It won't win you any gucci points on the range.

But there isn't anything really wrong with it either. I like the pistol grips.
>>
>>34247238
I have fagpul handguards on my AK and I like them
>>
>>34247858
Could be worse I recently bought a hand guard dark earth and forgot the rest of the gun was olive
>>
>>34247931
it was a good price at the time and its built like a brick unlike lighter hybrid rails.

>get different color scheme furniture for every single part of your AR
>use different colors for even the upper and lower handguard
>if you have to use the same color again, make sure it doesn't touch another part of the same color
>have a /k/ outing at the range
>see how long it takes before someone on the range vomits from looking at its sheer hideousness
>>
Why would you hate on it, if it works and is inexpensive? AR elitists will hate you for not spending more than $2,000 and having a rifle that does the same thing as theirs.
>>
>>34247966
I still got half a mind to grab some pink furniture just for shitposting in /arg/
>>
The pistol grips and handguards are definite upgrades from GIshit but don't stand out. Their stocks are some of the best in the industry and they have a shitload of options.
>>
Well magpul magazines made usgi aluminum magazines obsolete

Anyone who says their injection molded polymer isnt any good is a fucking fudd

And nearly everyone has some form of magul furniture that they own
>>
>>34248008
>>34248027
gonna end up camo painting it anyways so oh well
>>
>>34248109
> Anyone who says their injection molded polymer isnt any good is a fucking fudd

Or a hipster faggot.
>>
>>34248109
Military still uses GI Mags.....
>>
>>34248141
Because the military has never, ever used something that's been outclassed by something else.
>>
>>34248141
They also use ucp
>>
>>34247238
yes faggit, take off the front, dump a 100rd mag and lick ballel.
>>
It's step up from USGI furniture but not as good as gucci freefloat barrels ofc
>>
>>34247238
I like all the magpul I've bought so far.
>>
>>34248149
>>34248160
There's nothing wrong with an aluminum body. It's a disposable magazine. All the new ones use Magpul anti-tilt followers and springs. Long as you're not running your mags over they will be fine.

their mags are no better the USGI with the improved followers

if the government wants quality they should go with Lancer
>>
>>34248214

That's not how the military works.

If you don't need freefloat faggotry (and...you really don't NEED it unless you're running an IR laser or some shit), I like their AR handgaurds.
>>
>>34247916
isn't Mlok an open-source format?
>>
>>34248288
Yes it is. That's what is so great about it.
>>
>>34248008
Kek.

And set up next to somebody with a SCAR, just for shiggles
>>
>>34248297
wouldn't that imply that they're not making any money off of some other company's Mlok sales?
>>
>>34248288
>>34248297

It is not open source, it has a free license. anyone can use Mlok and advertise their product as Mlok if they add the faggy little logo and build it to spec. They can still enforce the copyrights/patents if someone is doing something they don't like with it.
>>
>>34248322

They make their money off of Mlok by selling the accessories for it, and presumably they'll get some sort of residuals if the military adopts it.
>>
>>34248329
Open source = Free license
>>
pmags are great
so is the sl-k stock

the only other thing that I would go out of my way for is the enhanced trigger guard, which unlike a lot of other brands alloy trigger guards, doesn't have a logo on it
>>
If you have a shotgun for defensive purposes, it needs to have a magpul forend. You can easily add a light, and after installing their handstop, I can reliably cycle the shotgat twice as quickly as I could with the old school corn Cobb.

You won't get any praise at the range or on 4chan, but frankly the furniture will work just as well as anything else offered. Free floating is a meme for anything other than bragging online/ shooting at unrealistic ranges, even a cheap shit m&p15 sport can get 1.5 - 2 moa groupings with a gi handguard

How is reloading with the foregrip? Does it get in the way at all?
>>
It's ugly but it works like virtually any furniture.
>>
>>34250276
I could reload with the foregrip there, but I have since moved it farther forward by one notch, now it's a non-issue. It's just too dark to take another pic
>>
I like their grips, some of their stocks, and mags. MBUS pro sights are good. Handguards are junk imo

There shouldn't be a difference in shading. I think Magpul just didn't want to deal with it because you probably bought counterfeit.
