>>
Basllistol
Buy a box rags from amazon
>>
who else /cottonball/ here? cleans bores like nothing else
>>

This is a great idea. Thanks for that.
>>

Use good chemicals that take the work away unless you like to sit for hours cleaning. I prefer products by boretech, they clean fast and effectively while not smelling like shit. Also get a good cleaning rod and jags.
>>34247006
I generally use old tshirts.
>>
>>34246977
Q-tips are pretty handy, and cheap as fuck
>>
smear hand sanitizer inside dirty gun insides
light hand sanitizer on fire
let the fire do the work for about 30-40 minutes depending on how heavy the gun is
wipe off sanitizer with a pair of dirty underwear

Non-chlorinated brake clean works great when followed by regular cleaning technique.
>>

This can ruin some guns so be careful. Also works great before and after you use solvent.
>>

I'm a big fan of oils and solvents, my dude.

I use shop rags on the roll from the hardware store. Basically super thick paper towels, and about the same price. Way cheaper than name brand gun cleaning cloths and also don't leave little fiber residue.

Can anyone recommend a solvent better than hoppes? Everyone reccomends CLP but I was less than impressed. Some of my 9mm blowback guns and guns without chrome lined barrels take forever to clean with Hoppes.

I absolutely love the military naming convention. So many commas and inconsistency. Based on what is logical, that grease should be named "Grease, Rifle" using a comma like "Coffee, Instant, Type II" rather than that bullshit.

Shooting lead or copper? Diff solvents will work differently.
CLP doesn't clean much out except carbon, and it's only ok at lubing and preserving. Jack of all trades etc.

Boretech is what I use and it cleans better and faster than hoppes. It also doesn't smell so you can clean inside. They have a few products but you can look at their eliminator which is like an all in one that actually does its job.

Ok I'll bite due to your dubs, checking also

1. Guns are metal and plastic/wood, so usually they don't need super fancy products. A good CPL will do. Cheap/found anywhere alternative to a CPL is WD-40, but use some oil for real lubrication on the long run. Even motor oil will do.

2. If you are like me paranoid about cleaning and rusting, but hate the nuisance of deep cleaning time, do spray your CPL as soon as you finished shooting, where it matters most (bore, action).
While getting home from range, unloading car etc. the CPL works softening shit for a faster cleaning.

3. A good cleaning tool, and a great tool overall to have is a good air compressor. For things like trigger groups, actions and very small holes and channels is a literal godsend. You wont believe how much dirt and shit will come out from a "cleaned" gun when blasted with compressed air.
Also, it make difficult cleaning possible, and faster too.

4. Cheap and disposable patches of good quality cotton can be found around home and health care section of marts, like those used by grills for cleaning makeup. Lots of sizes too.

Renaissance Wax is a fantastic protectant for exterior metal and wood surfaces and it resists fingerprints. It has a very strong petroleum smell though.

Those towels are awesome for everything.

Ya i only do it on my plinkers really, not the expensive hunting rifle

Ballistol is great.

>>34247006
Hell yeah. I also use them to lightly coat muh gats in oil if they're going up for awhile. They can super useful. Gotta get the good ones though. The cheap ones will leave tiny cotton fibers behind that don't do any damage but are annoying.

Always copper. Looking for something that does the bore as well as the bolt, slide, etc.

Also, anyone got a good way to clean the baffles on an AAC Ti-rant? Shit gets caked on there. I let it soak in hoppes for an hour once and it didn't come off. Used a scraper to clean one of the baffles but it took almost 45 minutest clean a single baffle, so i suppose I need a good carbon eliminator as well.
