I use the houge grip. Shits comfy. The notch doesn't bother me though. The real problem is the shit plastic they typically use for the a2 grip. Real milspec ones are slightly rubbery

Here's why it's there:
1. It positions your hand for optimal reach to the mag release w/o a beaver tail
2. The nub helps you hold onto the grip without ridiculous sandpaper stippling
I like the A2 grip a lot personally desu

Does that with the A1 and A2 grips as well for me, I just got one of those MagPul triggerguards from plastic and it's done fine for me as far as comfort goes.
