forgot to mention he'll have to get a 20in barrel as well. A "9" shot tube retains the barrel at the front lug which the 18.5 does not have.

It is the '7 shot' (6+1). its also the 18.5 inch barrel. I understand that the 20" has a flush appearance but the website shows a flush look for the 18.5 inch too. I contacted them about it and they basically chucked it up to looking like that because the image is computer generated on the website... (facepalm).

Either way, its a fine shotgun and i plan on keeping it. Was just wondering if anyone has one that is 18.5 inches with a flush tube or reasons why mine isnt flush.

18.5 with flush tube doesnt exist. as for shell capacity not all 2.75 shells are the same length. its 2.75 when fired. unfired shell length varies. if you have longer shells that extra length is enough toblock one more round.

If you get that one you could more easily mount a (special order) heat shield. Heavy barrel takes longer to start cooking, but once it's hot it stays that way longer too

Not OP, but while were on the subject of mossberg heatshields, does anyone know a way to mount a magtube mounted light mount to a Mossman 500 with a heatshield mounted to the barrel? I live on a mountain where it gets dark and I wouldn't want to have to mount an assault on a mountain lion without a light mounted on my scattergat.

Theres a 7" or so plastic spacer that keeps the shield from sliding forward, but I want to put the light mount near the front of the pump, which would mean cutting that spacer and having nothing in front. Pic related. The one on the top is my 18.5" mossy and shows the setup I'm trying to recreate on my 20".

I guess I could just rely on the light mount itself to hold the shield in place but that seems kinda fucky, and I'd rather not cut the spacer since if I ever need another it'll probably be kinda expensive to order on it's own.
