AR or AK? Faggot shit. Real men will go with the Sturmgewehr. You can get it in 5.56 or 7.62, .300 blackout and even the original kurz ammunition. It has just the right amount of wood to metal ratio, not too much wood so you dont look like a slav fag, and not too little so people can tell yous till like to have a little fun. Its mags are cross compatible with AR mags, so you can use your fancy MAGPUL mags in em', and it has a rail attachment for red dots, scopes, etc. And you can get one with the fun switch on it if you contact HMG, And finally, just imagine your sitting on your porch and some big nosed, nasally man comes and tries to take your guns/shekels. You can pop on that stahlhelm and fill that dirty thing with lead. If your gonna pick up an assault rifle, might aswell pickup the original design. neet.
>>
Why the hell would I want a gun that is nothing like the original at all? It doesnt use the same action, it doesnt have the same proportions, and the stampings on it dont even come close to replicating the original.
All it has going for it, is the fact that it looks vaguely like an StG from 30ft away.
If the HMG people cared about that project at all they could and should have done so much better.

most the parts are interchangeable with the original STG-44, however obviously because of the limitation of full auto, and them making it available in different cartridges, the receiver is much different. And because of this, their CEO even said, "this is not an STG-44, its an HMG STG". If you get it kurz chambered, full auto, and a darker wood for its furniture, there would be minute differences.
>>
>>34243508
He stated it was the "HMG StG" only after receiving a shit ton of flak over how stupid it looks.
Face it, they promised a new StG clone that looked historically accurate and after they got enough pre orders said "fuck it" and thru this piece of shit out.
>>
>>34243547
point shit out thats different, dont just say "its not duh same!!"
>>
With slightly different stampings and a slightly different finish it could very well look like an STG-44 now it just looks weird, i wonder if the prototype was rushed or something.
>>
>>34243807
They had to change a lot to make the ATF happy. I remember an HMG rep discussing the differences in video but don't recall what the video was.
>>
>>34243867
I mean yeah they had to use the HK trigger pack but look at the lower receiver stamping pattern, just goddamn straight lines, they could have atleast copied the shape of the original STG-44 lower receiver, and maybe even add some faux pins on the surface.
>>
Every time we have this thread (once a week, roughly) I think of those posters who say they'd be happy with a repro of [expensive milsurp firearm]
and laugh.

Still happy i cancelled last December. Kick myself for loaning them money for a year for nothing. Still have to sell the 300 kurz i stocked up on. And yes...i post in a lot of these threads but i spent the money and lived through a never ending stream of broken promises until i cancelled. Fuck those guys and shame on me for trusting them . As for now thr ammo sits with the weird ammo stack
>>
>>34243956
Man wtf how could they fuck up the stamping proportions that badly.
>>
alright, i concede, they are very different other than the reciever. Someone should start a company where they sell exact, quality reproductions of ww2 weapons
>>
>>34243956
Also some of these things can be over looked, like changing the mag release, that's fine and they tried to make it look right.
My main problem is with their half assed stamping. If you are going to bother making stamped in lines than do it right. Make them the right width, thickness and location. Do not just throw a bunch of stupid lines in there cause "durr we dont feel like doing a good job".
And yes I know stamping molds cost a ton of money to make, thats why they should have spent 5 hours with an engineer in autocad to get the stampings right the first time.

I'm curious how it's shaped vs the ww2 german steel core bullet I have.

have you never seen an HMG thread before? anons have listed the details one by one multiple times.
there are two teams:
>it looks like an airsoft gun
and
>good enough for me xD
choose your side.
>>
>>34244114
If you were to watch some of the videos they put out, they addressed this. The stamping process on the original was quite violent and had something like a 70% failure rate. The lower is completely different, why do you expect the stampings to be the same?

considering the required change in fire controls, and the changes in caliber, this doesn't seem bad.
>>
>>34243462
great truck gun
>>
>>34243938
no anon you don't understand. HMG had to build this rifle from scratch and recreate ancient technology (the blueprints of which were translated from a Sumerian codex). to make the stamping look more like a real STG, it would cost $25k per gun. also the ATF said that the lines and bulges were too curvy and forced HMG (against their will!) to make it more rigid and flat looking. as for the blonde wood, that was a creative choice by HMG. so you see, it looks this way so more proud Americans can afford it.
>>
I'll buy one in 10 years after HMG goes out of business and the price drops to $600 because nobody else wants them
>>
>>34245217
if the lower is completely different (along with the rest of the gun), then what's the point of the gun?

>>34245219
>required change in fire controls
most SA repros of FA guns manage to get away with just committing a pin hole or some internal blocks

ATF may say not to put FA compenents in, but the ATF didn't make them completely change the lower's external appearance
>>
>>34245339
this

the HMG might be hot(ish) now, they may even make some money

but in 20 years, they'll be gone and the HMG StG will be remembered not as a brave and daring new rifle that captured the spirit of WWII, but rather as a poor and cheaply produced imitation
the caliber conversions will not be remembered as an innovative feature, but as an unwanted anachronism
>>
>>34245353
To make an obtainable STG out of modern materials for an affordable price? They had to make sacrifices to get where they are, but the engineering that went into this gun is really interesting. If you don't like it, that's fine. But just because it doesn't appease your autism doesn't mean it's pointless. It's an STG that will run thousands of rounds and not beat itself to death like an original and it doesn't cost 5K+ like a real clone would or 25K+ like a historical full fun rifle would. It's a fun little "what if" rifle that has enough novelty and interest to be a good product IMO.
>>
bump for memes
>>
I like these topics. the people with autism who cry about this gun not having the right stamping are the best.
>>
>>34244011
Hey...
>>
>>34245234
Do you have any proof that the ATF forced them to change the stamped lines? Cause that sounds like a load of horse shit, even for the ATF.
>>34245217
You're telling me that with modern steels and forming methods that they couldnt get it even a little closer? Sounds more like they are lazy asses

Hi, welcome to forgotten weapons, I'm Ian and today we're going to be looking at some of what's coming up at Rock island's June 2033 auction. Up today is is an hmg stg, these were briefly released in 2019, and only a few hundred actually made it to the public before the company ceased production and dissolved
>>
>>34243489
Something other then AR/AK shit.
I love em both but god damn there are more firearms then those two only.
>>
I don't give a fuck about the StG. For all I care, it's an early, and fairly flawed take on the assault rifle concept.
Shooting it probably wouldn't feel very unique.

What I want to see is a modernized, affordable FG on the US market. That would be something wholly different.
>>
>>34245952
I wonder if Ian and Karl would dare mudtest the hmg stg after promoting it so much. I'm willing to bet money that they already did mudtest it, but it failed miserably so they didn't bother uploading the video.
>>
>>34243956
How'd they fuck up the selector position so badly?
>>
>>34246460
because they cheaped out and dropped in G3 trigger packs instead of developing their own triggers
>>
>>34246494
Wow, thats fucking pathetic, how much do they want for this piece of crap again?
>>
>>34246565
>Wow, thats fucking pathetic,

Please elaborate.
>>
>>34246571
They're cheaping out so hard they can't even place the safety in the right spot because they won't make their own trigger pack, probably one of the cheapest and easiest parts of the gun to make.
>>
>>34246583
Meh.
>>
>>34246629
Yeah, thats right HMG, you have no excuse
>>
>>34246350
Left handed shooters would hate that. I'll buy 2.
>>

ian was fine with SMG's replica because they have a ejection port hump like an A2.
