>>34242858
thats the ak of bolt actions
>>34242858
He asked what was the AR-15 of bolt action rifles, not the stinking hobo of bolt action.
>>34242872
>is a meme
>everyone and their mother has one except "purists"
>can go for really cheap or really expensive depending on quality
ar15 of bolt actions. then again
>reliable as shit
>can be beaten to hell and back and will still work
its both
Remington 700 is the original
Howa is the cheap replica, based off of the same reciever, that is prone to rusting
>>34242880
>mosin
>reliable
The ones on the market now are fucking garbage.
did they fix the safety problem with the 700?
Also, I always felt the 700 was overpriced, almost like colt and their pricing for their plain jane ar's
>>34242880
I mean AR-15 meaning that a large user base and aftermarket exists for the gun such to the point that prices are driven down by competition and quality and feature set rises accordingly.
I know nothing out there is quite like that for bolt action but what's the closest we have these day?
>>34242898
Yeah they fixed the safety issues.
Remington is a little overpriced if you fall for the Magpul Models.
I went with a Remington ADL Varmint, 26" barrel which is the same as the Long Range or Police model. Was on sale plus Mail in Rebate.
Bought the Magpul Stock and Magwell and saved money.

>that is prone to rusting
Sounds like a very accurate Remshit clone then

>Remington is a little overpriced if you fall for the Magpul Models.
true, and I know some of their 700 models can tip into the $500-600 range
but there's also that other much prasied bolt action on the market, Tikka, that hovers in that same range.
Are 700's still worth their money, and more importantly, has Remington picked up their slack since being under Freedom Group?
I'm personally going to wait until I move to pick up a bolt action since I live in a city and actually need an outdoor range to shoot bolt.

>>34242872
The AR and the AK are good though.
>>34242930
I'd go for the Tikka. Remember the trigger issue last year, I've also seen examples with chatter and machine marks in the rifling.
>>34242898
The only safety problem with the 700 is a few careless people dont handle their gun correctly. Know and live the four rulesofgun safety.

I have a howa and i have no idea what you're talking about.
