I currently have a Benchmade Griptilian 551 that is the completely barebones model. I love the thing but I'm looking for something that is a bit smaller and has a deep carry clip. I have my eye on the Benchmade Valet because of the size, clip, and higher quality steel.

Does anyone have one and want to share their opinion, or have any better suggestions?

spending over 20$ on a folding knife is retarded, no matter how high quality, a folding joint(of any type or material) will alway be worse then a fixed blade with a tang. You should toss a folding knife as soon as it losses it edge.

Benchmade makes good knives. I prefer their G10 and Aluminum handled knives to their plastic ones.

There are certainly better knives than 20 dollar folders, shit even cheap kershaws are 30. But I kind of agree with your principle, in that the knife you carry everyday should be easily replaceable and relatively inexpensive.

I understand your basis here, but I paid $100 for my Griptillian and I've beat the hell out of it in the 6 months I've had it. It always cleans up and gets a good edge back on it. It's kind of the same thing of spending $20 on a knife every 2 months or buying a $100 knife that will last a few years

Can't go wrong with a benchmade. Love my griptilian.

I bought a Griptilian Christmas before last and left it in a box cause I thought it was too nice to carry being an 80 dollar knife. I got over that, and it has been my EDC for about 3 months and I love it. That being said, I literally just bought pic related and am looking forward to it. It combines what I love about my old EDC, the Kershaw Skyline (G10 scales, flipper, good pocket clip) with what I like about the Griptilian (thicker spine and good blade steel, although S30V is actually better than Grip's 154CM). Plus it's assisted opening. If you wanna poorfag it like what these guys are saying, and there's merit to doing that, the Skyline is great. But if you want to be a knife patrician, Griptilian and 0360 are dank.

btw that is a live sale going on right now if you want a 0360

With thinking like that, why not buy a $200 gun with cheap remington fmj's as carry and wear clothes and shoes that are under $30 each?

Because you're paying more than just something that's "replaceable". If you're a poorfag to the max or you are complete shit with your tools, it makes little sense to buy more expensive things.
If you're going to take care of your tools and enjoy using them, not not spend a bit more for something that have a bit more quality?
You don't go into a construction job and bring harbor freight bullshit with you unless you really know you'll lose those tools, don't have much pride in your trade, or you really can't afford better tools.

940 is great. Can't really go wrong with any benchmade.

Same, was scared to use mine at first until I realized you can't break it.

Go touch up that chinstrap, check in with your parole officer, make a partial child-support payment, and get back to stealing tools from the jobsite.

Benchmade 940.

A little lighter and more slender than the Griptilian. Can replace factory clip with a deep carry one like in the pic.

On the note of knives, what's the best place to hopefully not get ripped off?
>>
>>34242231
My innawoods/hunting knife is nice, expensive, with a custom sheath.

My edc knife is a $10 Opinel. Because it's good enough for the shit I'll use a pocket knife for and I don't worry about it if it gets lost or broken, which jackknives fucking do all the time.

Not much feels worse than going to grab your $100 folding knife, realizing it's not in your pocket, and never seeing it again.

I like the durability of Gerber knives. The blades don't hold edges very well though. I'd say for EDC it's what I need.

Benchmade is great, though I've heard the action on the Valet series is so so. For best value I'd really recommend a Doug Ritter mini Griptilian. It's for $130 it's small, M390 blade steel, can use a deep carry clip, and there's a lot of aftermarket scales if you don't like the original set.
