Not trying to shill, but I want other anons to have a chance at the deals I saw today:

Gander Mountain in Blaine is selling like 7 or 8 Yugo capture K98ks for only $223.00 each.
>>
>>34236736
Anybody in the twin cities here?
>>
>>34236736
Don't miss out!
>>
>>34236736
damn, it's a shame they're not doing store to store transfers right now.
>>
>>34236874
Where are you located?
>>
Fuck. I'd have one brought to tn if I could.
>>
>>34236918
I got one today that has a G33/40 mountain carbine bolt
>>
>>34236736
Fuck, background check delay

REEEEEEEEEE
>>
>>34236963
Nice find post some pics.

Got an m48 at auction that a buddy bought from me. Original, not an a or b. Basically kraut parts.

Neat gun. I think I paid 250

This is all I took cos my hands were covered in cosmoline.

They had 1 Mosin, a couple 24/47s, and 7 or 8 K98ks.
>>
>>34237515
>not an a or b. Basically kraut parts
No such thing as an M48 that utilizes 98k parts.
>>
Neat. WIfag here in Chanhassen for work.
Maybe I'll run on up there for a look.
>>
>>34237586
Well whatever it was an early ass production. Pre a
>>
>>34237726
The regular M48 just utilizes all milled parts. M48A used some milled parts, M48B is extensive use of stamped parts, and M48BO is the export model.

>>34237699
Worth a look for sure. I bought one, 240 after taxes, but am waiting for the fucking delay to end...I get a background check delay every fucking time they use the computerized background check vs when they do it over the phone.
>>
>>34237817
What's this delay all about?
Like a matter of hours, or days?
>>
Oh fuck, I'm right in the middle of the twin cities. I'm going to have to run over right now, hope I'm not too late. Thanks for the heads up.
>>
>>34237849
I get a delay every fucking time they use the computerized background check, don't know why. When a gunshop calls it in after I do the paperwork in writing, I get the green light.

>>34237866
Do it man. Post pics if you get one. They have a good selection of flat vs cupped butts, and yugo replacement stocks.
>>
>>34236909
>34236874 Here, located in TX, actually work at Gander here.
>>
>>34239189
How's Gander in Texas?
>>
>>34239338
it's okay, we're supposed to be staying open with the new company. but all day I get "when are y'all closing?", "When will the guns be marked down more?", " These prices are still ridiculous." Like I have any control over it. I hate people. But on the plus side, I get to finger fuck guns all day long, so I got that goin' for me I guess.
>>
Duluth here

Never owned a gun yet, but these seem tempting. Any laws or processes I should do or know of? Any classes etc?
>>
>>34236764
YES. I AM HERE.

PS: Do any Twin Cities anons want to go shooting sometime?
>>
>>34239836
I would. Where you thinkin? What you got?
>>
>>34239889
.22 Winchester 67A, Colt 32 Police Positive, SKS, Remington 1100, and a 458 Win mag Model 70.

Stock and Barrel club if we're not shooting steel case ammo, Bill's if we're shooting steel case. I don't know much about the outdoor ranges here, I've only been to Oakdale for trap shooting.
>>
Any MN dudes who wanna shoot, post a throwaway email and I'll send out a group email about a /k/ mini meetup.
>>
>>34239519
No classes necessary.
>>
>>34239836
OP here, I worry about shooting with people I don't know. Would actually have been fun to meet an anon or two at Gander today, to see if you fuckers are alright ir not.
>>
>>34239943
[email protected]
>>
>>34239519
Nope, nothing needed. Just a regular background check and you walk out.
>>
>>34239965
I was there at about 7:30 today, spent like 45 minutes inspecting everyone before choosing. Again, thanks for the heads-up. For any other MNfags out there, there are 13 M48s, 4 M24/47s and 1 M91/30 with half its bolt missing. Might be why it was relatively cheap at $159.
>>
>>34240407
Why do I always get a delay when I do the background check on a computer, but never when I fill it out via paper?
>>
>>34240456
Forgot to mention that the guy at the counter said that the M48s aren't a hot item and are likely to sit there, while the M24s are likely to be scooped up quicker so act quickly on those. So for any anons who want an M48, don't worry about not being able to get one now, they'll be there for a while.
>>
>>34240456
Nice! Glad I helped an anon out. Pics on the one you ended up getting? I'd recognize it cos I spent about 45 minutes looking them over as well (my normie buddy did not understand why I needed that much time, lol).

>M48
Maybe you mean Mod.98/48? The Yugo designation?
>>
>>34240482
The guy told me they were there for 11 months, but they were definitely in the back cos I browse there probably monthly and hadn't seen a single K98k until today, so they probably only recently put them out.
>>
>>34240458
Shiiiet I don't know man. Mine went through flawlessly and so did the white guy's who looked like Jamie Kennedy from Malibu's Most Wanted. Is your name something like Geoffrey Fahmer? Might just have drawn the short stick.

Yeah I got a few pics, here's the best one. Didn't time stamp it since I forgot that you asked for pics while I was there. It's at my parent's house since I live on campus, I can time stamp it sometime tomorrow if you so desire.
>>
>>34240524
I'm white and as Scandinavian looking as it gets, and I have a basic fucking name, yet I get delayed every damn time when I file online (so places like Cabela's or Gander Mountain), but if I fill out the old fashioned packet like I would at Frontiersman or somewhere like that, it goes through without a hitch.
>>
>>34240605
Ah, you got the one with the nicest stock. It's a Yugoslav replacement wood (same elm as the M48 that replaced captured K98ks in Yugo military service). You can tell by the lack of bolt disc in the stock, and that the stock is chunkier in general.

Nice rifle, congrats anon.
>>
>>34240493
>>34240605
Shit...not sure why that posted upside down. It was right-side up when I took it. And as for your other question, isn't the yugo k98 the M48? The tags on the guns didn't have a name on them, so it's entirely possible I'm mixing them up.

Forgot to add the pic of my first K98k, which has the same kind of Hugo stock as yours does (hardwood, no bolt disc, and flat butt, and thicc in general).

What do I have to do to get one shipped to NC right now? I NEED to get my first mauser and this is an opportunity I can't pass up
>>
>>34240621
There must be a murderer that exists only online and only commits felonies when you fill out 4473s electronically. At least it's not a long delay and you can still walk out with your funz.
>>34240645
Yeah I hemmed and hawed over them making sure they had their front sight hood, had a stock in fair condition, a nice bright bore and a bolt that wasn't too sticky. I think I came away nicely, and once my stuff arrives for my M91/30 that I'm also coincidentally cleaning, I can include it in the process.
>>
>>34240679
>isn't the yugo k98 the M48?
The M48 is functionally the same as the K98k, but has a number of cosmetic differences. Most importantly, the receivers themselves are different dimensions.
>>
>>34240749
>At least it's not a long delay and you can still walk out with your funz.
Any delay is too long and I was excited to spend the rest of the day cleaning the cosmoline off of it.

Is this your first K98k, anon?

>>34240721
Best you could do is make buddies with an MN anon, do a PayPal transfer, have the anon buy the rifle, then gift it to you. I REALLY don't know how legal that is, so don't quote me on it. I would be too scared to try, and I don't really suggest you try it unless you make certain it's legal to do that.
>>
>>34240767
Well then thanks for the correction, mauser type rifles are new to me so it's good to know what the differences are between these and the german ones.
>>
>>34240844
Your rifle started life as a totally regular Wehrmacht issued K98k, was captured from German troops via partisans or the war ending, then was re arsenaled to make them Nazi mark free and to make them a bit newer...usually new barrels, new serial numbers, and sometimes new stocks like yours.
>>
>>34240815
True, any delay at all sucks and yes, it is my first K98k. I'm just beginning to dabble in milsurp and have yet to learn all the nuances and differences to look for in a particular type of rifle.
>>
>>34240913
You have a good start. Any questions, I'm happy to help.

>>
>>34240964
One anon here was there at 730 tonight, and claims there are a good few left.
>>
>>34240964
Plenty left, they're not in danger of being swept away anytime soon. As for reserve, not sure but can probably be done.
>>34240939
Cool, thanks anon. I guess the most difficult thing I'm encountering so far when navigating the milsurp world is when it comes to pricing. At gun shows I'll see shit for like $800+ and I stay away from those but I have no baseline to go off of so I'm not sure if that's what they're really worth or if those dudes are just retarded for asking that much. I'm guessing the latter but I can't be sure.
>>34240876
Wow. That's pretty amazing. So would it be safer to say it's a refurb than a true post-war yugo production? I'll be holding on to this one tightly.
>>
>>34241148
>At gun shows I'll see shit for like $800+ and I stay away
Good.
>reserving a gun can probably be done
No. I asked if they'd let me do layaway, but they aren't letting anybody do anything short of outright buying.
>is it a postwar refurb?
Yes. At some point it was in German service. If you disassemble the rifle, you MIGHT be able to see hints of German proof markings on the receiver, and you can cross reference that with info online, to maybe figure out which manufacturer made it...but yours will probably be a mix master like mine and have a combo of many different manufacturer proofs: mine has Steyr Werke parts, Erma parts, and I think Borsigwalde parts as well...those are all tiny proof marks the Yugos didn't bother machining off because they're so small and numerous. You'll want a magnifying glass to read out most of them if your rifle has any.
>>
>>34241148
Also forgot to mention...

Getting an idea of what the price should be of any given milsurp is an exercise of a lot of time: looking online at distributors; gunbroker; gun shops; and maybe even a bit of browsing here. You look at guns long enough, and you get almost a sixth sense for those things where you barely have to think about it, and you'll have an accurate answer.
>>
>>34241274
That's kind of what I've been doing in regards to pricing. It's just made more difficult when they range so wildly in cost. I guess it's just a matter of time and effort until I get that sense you speak of. You've been a great help anon, truely. Now off to dream about how I'll finger blast my rifle when I see it again.
