Hello /k/ I have been thinking about this for a while now , and after seeing proposals for the molemen of /k/ and the innawoods folk, I present to you a better and more feasible rout of forming a nation of gun friendly kommandos.

I know there are many navy folk around you, and I propose that we start a maritime nation and rely on international cargo transportation to fund ourselves.

why hide in caves when you could feel the salty sea air on your face as you travel the world as a truly free man and make tones of profit while you are at it? all are welcome.
>>
>>34228404
Theres one active /k/ ship that some /k/anadian bought which was a small cargo ship or ferrying boat. I don't know what ever happen to that anon or if he even was allowing strangers to come on his boat.

that is cool, he could join our nation, but the idea was to get a whole fleet of ships eventually . To start it would take a few million dollars, but with a few hundred committed people, it comes out to a few thousand a piece.

Ive lived on boats for years (military) looking at getting out, which leaves an opportunity to make money and keep living onnaboat
>>
>>34228404
Can we have a LCC? :^)
>>
>>34228846
Eventually the plan is to have a whole series of boats that can provide both logistics and military roles for hire
>>
>>34228631
>>34228682
He ran off after spending some time talking about what could be considered basically being a pirate. He came back later and said the Canadian police came to him because of allegations of conspiracy to commit illegal maritime activities.

Moral of the story, don't openly joke about being a pirate while attempting to actually recruit a volunteer crew for a real ship.
>>
>>34228768
What options are you looking at? I've always wanted to crew on smaller boats to pay for passage.
>>
>>34228963

Obviously, there would not be piracy involved, but i am familiar with international law so i think that we can avoid being in trouble against the constabulary roles of the Canadians and the like.

>>34228986

at this point, it is still in the formative stage, but having some insight to the logistics side of vessels, we could make quite alot of money by transporting goods. there is more profit to be had going into dangerous waters, but things like bunker fuel, cargo, and grain could be an option. also having a protective force of people getting passage would cut down on the cost. at this point, all jobs are in need as would be donations if this goes anywhere.
>>
>>34229051
>Obviously, there would not be piracy

Agreed. Just pointing out that the last endeavor failed because the "Captain" joked about being Mercenaries for hire and basically pirates. Don't do that and you're stay ahead of his failures.
>>
>>34228986

at first, paychecks would not be large, as we would need to recoup the cost of vessels, but after several runs, we could make millions per trip for the right buyers and the right cargo
>>
>>34229068

Mercenary work would be an option, especially with increasing piracy around africa. we could have people who just cleared shipping lanes of pirates for a small fee. Assisting in freedom of navigation and establishing a valuable and lucrative service for major companies

some of us could also operate mobile armories STALKER style either buying and selling or stocking weapons outside the national waters of any country. as far as i am aware , this is not illegal at all
>>
>>34229165

The main incentive for all of this would be to have a /k/ island that can only be reached by boat specifically our boats, and we would have maritime defenses set up to prevent invaders and pirates
>>
>>34229081
>>34229051

in international waters, there really arent any rules aside from general environmental things people care about, so we could find an island in the middle of the sea that nobody has claimed and start churning out full autos or any other type of gun we wanted. we could arm all of our ships with whatever we wanted.

even if all we did at the beginning was start a maritime security firm, we could make enough money to buy a few used tankers or cargo boats. we could have new /k/ommandos break in and learn a trade on our ship eventually

in the military field, there are 3 major components, deck/engineering/aviation

deck handles aspects of navigation, and seamanship in addition to in some cases logistics and rescue

engineering handles mechanical systems, maintenance, and fire fighting and damage control.

we would need people with commercial loading and rigging if we wanted to get into the real profit side of the house

So let's say we do pool our money and buy a big-ass cargo ship. What happens next?

What sort of license and fees do we have to pay to be allowed to load cargo and take it across the globe? How do you even break into the shipping game these days, I'm assuming a few huge companies have a monopoly on the whole industry, so are we going to come in and undercut them? I imagine their margins are much thinner than we can afford.

How much does upkeep and fuel cost for large container vessels? How difficult is it to learn how to fix them if something goes wrong at sea?

What are the rules of engagement on the seas for civilian vessels? Anything goes or are we going to shoot some skinnies and them be sentenced to death for murder ourselves?

A full sized cargo ship won't happen. I work in the industry and the amount of money that would be needed is far more than we could scrape together. Fuel alone would break us. But it's a fun idea to throw around. Now..getting a cutter type boat and hunting Somali pirates? That could very well be feasible.
>>
>>34231139

>What sort of license and fees do we have to pay to be allowed to load cargo and take it across the globe?

some anons already have the licenses, we would just need to register the ship and get it flagged to a nation i think

>How much does upkeep and fuel cost for large container vessels?

his is the largest expense, parts and fuel would be a limiting factor at first, thats why we would need an additional source of income while we get the ship stood up

>What are the rules of engagement on the seas for civilian vessels?

its difficult, there are some general rules in place, but still more of a wild west setting. if it ends up on the internet, bad things could happen, but as long as you aren't indiscriminately shooting people (like pirates) it would not be too bad. self defense is appropriate in most scenarios when a set of responses is followed.

Could always turn about 4 containers into living quarters if we have a lot of people and just bolt them down with the top deck. Additionally, there are a few licensed helicopter fags on /k/ such as myself and after a few ventures we could invest in a MD500E or some beater. Flying gun platform.

>in international waters, there really arent any rules
Countries often do have rules that extend to their citizens overseas though. Kiddy fiddling is the one that's most policed, but there are others you'd be subject to.

>so we could find an island in the middle of the sea that nobody has claimed
There are none. Every island has been claimed already.

>start churning out full autos or any other type of gun we wanted.
It'd be cheaper just to start a military arms manufacturer in an existing country, because then you don't have to build all the infrastructure to some place in the arse end of the world.

Otherwise you're looking at minimum tens of millions of dollars.

Wait... Once we get started, can't we just have a designated "gun boat". As in, a boat that holds our guns and stays outside countries as to not upset the authorities? Of course, the actual people and boats will be cycled to allow everyone some time on land.
>>
>>34233944
Yes, that's what these security companies often do, eg.

http://www.avantmaritime.com/services/floating-armouries/
>>
>>34233954
Then that's what we shall do when the time comes. Besides, we are only escorting them through the high risk area. Shouldn't be too hard to disembark before we hit land. Now, only thing we need to do is home port at a country with minimal gun laws.

If you even wanted this to work you'd need to hire specialists focusing on Operations and Navigation. Also if you happen to have tens of millions of dollars lying around to provide funding for maintenance that might help because wouldn't you know it ships and submarines have equipment that break down nearly every day, I know my Electronic Warfare suite breaks down if you look at it sideways.

Every piece of land on earth has been claimed except for the coldest shittiest part of Antarctica and the hottest, driest piece of shit desert in Africa and even that last one is just because there's a different piece of land that Egypt and Sudan are arguing over.

There's plenty of places to buy full retard guns though, and if you're actually making money doing your thing someone will sell to you.

> and start churning out full autos or any other type of gun we wanted. we could arm all of our ships with whatever we wanted.
I mean as long as you didn't do anything mega-stupid with them and you "didn't" bring them to places that you'd get shit for it, essentially no one would stop you.

There's always the option of seasteading the Big Boss way by getting like some big fuckoff ship and dropping anchor in international waters.

Kojima didn't pick the Seychelles at random, the reefs there make the shallowest places in international waters, they're 'only' a few hundred yards deep.

I actually know alot of guys that's have done anti piracy and alot of merchant mariners, I dont think OP realised how much all this would cost, unless there's a couple millionaires on /k/ all our pennies together couldn't afford a seaworthy tanker, then even if we got one we'd need the skills to sail it, knowing how to use all the equipment etc these are things people have to do years of training to master. Even portage costs are extortionately high, most ports you got into aswell you couldn't have any weapons on board, standard is to ditch them overboard when your going to dock.

Honestly you're best bet would be to either go the pmc route or sell the weapons to the pmc guys. They're used to be an outfit called Dolphin Security that worked off the coast of Africa all ex-FFL that would literally just roll upto the tankers and shit and sell the guys doing security on board what guns they wanted and then just off they went. I reckon thats the easier/more viable option although if they're still going they might consider you competition.

Also for maximum funs if there was money to splash id rather buy a small island and a Hind or two and charge companies to have safe harbour at the island and to have guaranteed safety within a certain en-catchment area from the island like 140 miles or something and if they subscribe and get attacked/chased by pirates within that area we just go storming out in the hinds and light the little skids and there skiff up. Or if the pirates are already aboard just drop a few /k/unts on the ship and let them remove somali
