I love my m1. Pretty accurate, .30 carbine is a respectable round and the rifle is very, very light. 30 round mags are cool to play around with too. I haven't used any of the forward sighting systems, but i am highly suspect of their accuracy and ability to retain zero, as the upper handguard on the m1 isn't a very snug fit. I see it losing zero quickly after shooting or being bumped.

New springs do wonders for reliability if you're having cycling troubles.

New-old stock S korean mags are pretty good. Their hold-open followers are nice, and allow you to easily engage the bolt's hold open while working with the action or reloading.

The mag pouches on the stock seem nice, but they throw the balance off and its easier to use pouches on your belt.

Oiler holding the sling on is cool, you'll always have it with you.

Side mounted sling is great for hasty sling shooting.

If you've got the adjustable rear sight they're pretty useful. Very precise windage adjustments and elevation to 300 yards is useful.


I encourage you to modify it, but don't damage or (heavily) modify and components. Your grandpa would have wanted it to stay mostly how he had it I imagine.


Get a bayonet for fun.

Dressed up a ruger 10/22 as a carbine since I like the milsurp aesthetic.

I really want an original but I can't justify the cost of ammo considering .223 costs the same, if not cheaper most of the time and is far more common and effective.

That said, I wish they made a dressup kit for the .44 deerfield carbine, since an M1 carbine in .44 magnum sounds awesome.

It's not mine, but mine looks somewhat similar. I used tech sight 200s since the M1 carbine profile sights were no longer available from anywhere, and a cut down wooden dummy 15 round mag gorilla glued to the 10/22 mag since anything over 10 rounds is b& in commiefornia, and I don't want to destroy an original.

Mfw pops has an old m1 but he let it get rusted to shit.

We can't. The dems are pretty much set for a trifecta by next year unless something horrific comes out about Murphy (which, knowing NJ politicians, is a possibility) and they'll buttfuck us as much as physically possible on guns. The 3rd circuit is our only shield, and they don't like to take gun cases. And the ones they DO take often are often ruled in the grabbers' favor. I'm moving to PA within 3 years.

Yeah, I googled some of them, the Algimec looks like an alright kind of plinker, a 9mm blowback bullpup carbine eating from Hi-Power mags.
