What is the best service rifle in use and why is it the rk95?
>>
>>34222962
it's a fine rifle, but out of all the RK rifles alone, only a tiny fraction are RK95s. And they are quickly "running out" thanks to constant wear and tear, which is why FDF is now modernizing the older RK62 rifles into the 62M standard, adding adjustable stocks, RAILZ, etc on it.

All that being said, the RK rifles have the simplicity and realibility of the AK rifles, combined with higher production standards, improved sights and few other small improvements to the design. They're pure war fighting weapons, tools for conscript soldiers, that can be expected to last from father to sons.

Obviously unsuitable for larger armies because of the unit cost but probably the best assault rifle in the hands of random grunts at the moment.

It's a fine rifle, but it has its share of shortcomings. Although some can be seen as trade-offs, it still lacks some functions that are present on some of the more modern rifles.

Only one batch of 95's was ever ordered so the production line hasn't existed for two decades, there were plans to buy Beretta ARX160's to modernise our small arms but instead the decision was made to modernise the 62's instead. Basic line of thought was that rifle is fine but muh railz and red dots would be neat.

Then again, optics are not that important in the woods where visibility is limited to 50-100 meters. Most of the time when attacking we were just pouring suppressive fire at the enemy positions and tried to close in as fast as possible. Yeah, optics could be nice, but then again iron sights work just fine.

Of course in southern Finland there's more open fields, but infantry is not supposed to try and hold open ground against mechanized aggressor. I did my training in the north, which is just a dense forest.

Because Sako used to be owned by the Finnish government, but in their infinite wisdom they sold the company to Beretta. You can guess how many of those rifles have been produced since the change in management. After 20 years of kvetching the government agreed to finally upgrade the beat up 62's, but Beretta started pushing the ARX160, which would have meant we'd have to re-train all the reservists, change our land doctrine to accomodate the shit underpowered round, throw away all our stockpiles of 7.62x39, etc etc.

>Hows Finland in the face of Migrant crisis?
We got it very easy compared to our cuck-neighbor. Migrants can be seen in bigger cities, but they're not swarming the streets nor setting up temples.
Towels either adapt, or they get knifed by your friendly neighbor Cannon Ball boys.

>Also is Russia still poking you guys with sticks or are they leaving you alone?
They're "accidentally" flying in our airspace more often than in total within the past 20 years. Suspicious land purchases are being performed by rich-fag Ruskies, who never ever use or even visit said places, which often are located in the middle of fucking nowhere (with the exception of being located near power plants or lines, old military locations... etc). Our Gov had to actually step in and prevent some fishy Russian parties from buying some entire villages just recently.

Ruskie "officials" have made it very clear that NATO membership is not advisable to us. Some old Soviet-era jarheads have even preached how Lenin had no rights to give us our independence all those 100 years ago, thus making Finland still a legit state of Russian empire, so on and so forth.

There's also been track-suited goons observing Nordic joint-training operations in the Lapland, AND even threatening some military officers by demanding information about troops & gear, all while showing said victims a photo of their family members.

tl;dr: Ruskies are asking for it, and are pulling all sorts of bullshit excuses that would make them the "rightful owners" of Finland, the Baltics in whole... hell probably half of Europe soon.

Too bad your president doesn't seem to agree.

Not to mention there's a ton of people in Finland still living by their delusions that by remaining pure neutral, nothing will happen to us. It's even more mindboggling when some old farts bash NATO as if it'd be something worse than the fucking Soviet Union, all while "our beloved brothers" at Estonia embraced NATO immediately after their independence was announced, and have been warning people about Putin's bullshit for years now.

>>34232922
This, plus people don't seem to realize that the Lapua's 7.62x39 ammo =/= the old and busted Ruskie M43. Combine that with the tighter tolerances and higher production costs of RKs in general, and you got a powerful, small .30 cal round that can easily hit man-targets past 400 meters. Heck, some FDF units even have used RK95 + AGOC as their "DMRs", punching steel at almost 500 meters!

AK100/Saigas are a 1.5-2MOA gun. VEPRs are 1-1.5MOA. Yeah they're 3MOA with cheap range ammo but what gun isn't? I doubt the MOA tests done with your precious RK rifles wasn't done with match ammo. You guys oggle over this meme rifle that's not even good (or produced anymore for that matter). Then buy one and regret it when I outshoot you with my $300 Saiga that actually has an aftermarket.

>>
>>34233429
Bench it, properly mount a scope, and be conscious about your ammo and those are very realistic figures. That's how "MOA" is measured with any other platform.

What do you think it is that makes the AK platform inherently inaccurate? Does the barrel "flex" when it shoots?
>Lmao, no, it doesn't. Inb4 slow-mo of some rickety old pieced together AK.
Is the chamber loose for more reliable tolerance?
>No, they tightened them up because lacquer coated ammo is on its way out.
Are the barrels crooked?
>Maybe, depends how much vodka Boris has while making it. (No)
Do the sights suck?
>Depends on the shooter, I can say they aren't made for long range accuracy.
Is it difficult to mount a scope, so most people forgo it?
>Yep.
Is the ammo not typically loaded for accuracy?
>Bingo.

If the sights a straight, the barrels straight, and you shoot straight, the bullet is going to go straight. You're a noob shooter if you don't understand this basic fundamental of marksmanship, and if you can't get an AK to sub-2MOA, which is NOT even an impressive feat.

For the Finns, it is pretty well known, ages old thing that Russian media tends to favor the Russian side (which alone would be understandable), and even purely fabricate stories in order to make things click better with the political leaders. There was even this hilarious tale from the early days of the Ukraine / Crimea conflict, when a bunch of European press people were reporting the situation to their own corresponding channels; apparently a bunch of tracksuit thugs drove right in front of them with their black Lada, started talking about not spreading western propaganda to their people if they value their family members' lifes, and then drove off.

It's quite funny to see this giant bear with nukes and shit consider us midgets like the Finns a legit threat if they would choose to join a DEFENSE union. Some folks just want to live in peace and make sure no superpower tries to annex us, again.
At the same time, some half-dead Finnish grannies are boycotting NATO and pretty much whispering to us youngsters' ears not to make Russia mad. Independence and freedom of choice my ass.

As a side note, it's just silly how both Ruskies and Yanks blame each other for various things, and sitting in-between makes you a potential "enemy" of both sides. Smells like Cold War 2.0: Shitposting Era. The Moscow's "troll factory" is already a well known legend on Finnish discussion boards and newspaper web sites.
