Everything there is pre 80s tech. Glock just put it together successfully.

What is that black thing on the side that looks like the hatch from a gumball machine?
>>34223132
Funny you should say that, it's the charging handle, and just like the gumball machine, you operate it by twisting it
>>34221116
Yeah it's surprising that in 35 years no one has came up with a more reliable no bullshit combat sidearm. Plenty of attempts but in the end they're all just knockoff Glocks.

Guns are inherently old. I doubt we'll see any breakthroughs in gun tech for atleast a hundred years

After owning many handguns I have decided the only things I want anymore are 1911s and glocks.
No roll pins in either. Easy take down for cleaning or repair. Great ergonomics on both. Parts available everywhere.
Both are creations of very smart guys.

Gee Bill, your Mom lets you have two lanyard rings?

materials technology is probably the only forthcoming advancement.
Hey, if something works, it works, especially with the inherent danger associated with firearms (ie operator error). Can't make it too easy for Joe Rando to negligently light up because he has an electromagnetic trigger that will discharge the weapon just by brushing his finger across a stud.

... with a completely different action that is a sealed component...
That's the thing about all those inrange mud tests; god I love those guys but their fanbase cant think outside of a nutshell to save their lives...
>>34227677
He said reliable combat sidearm, not "reliable combat sidearm that uses the same action"
It's great how the glock fanboys are acting like every other fanbase now.

The ppl building guns in the 80s had a higher iq than just about 100 percent of naysayers
