Today was my first day firing a gun at a range. (How did I do?) Also, ITT: Your first time shooting stories.
depends entirely on how close the target was. if that was at 3 yards it was horrible
if it was at 7 i guess its okay for a beginner but otherwise shit
if it was 15 or 25 then not bad

Was 8 years old and was used to shooting a pellet gun and then dad brought out a Marlin bolt action .22 he bought for me when i was first born and waited till i was old enough to shoot. Was great making little soda cans and clay pigeons explode. Also taught me everything i know about safety. Havent had an ND yet so ill assume he did a good job.

Dont get discouraged if you see people with better groups. Keep practicing and having fun.

first 12 gauge i shot was an auto 5 while dove hunting with a cousin. i was 12 and trying to use my left eye while shooting right handed. the hump hit me in the face and gave me a bloody nose.

The first I shot was my uncle's bigass 12-gauge goose gun, and it was fairly uneventful.
My second time shooting was much more memorable. I went with samefag uncle to some guy's gravel pit with a clusterfuck of people and we all spent the day blowing up cars. Pic related was the second firearm I ever shot and I fucking loved her. Never bit me once.
In reality it's a frankengun Garand that was lovingly put together and set in a very nice new stock, and the guy that owns it won't ever sell it.

What did you shoot? I'm assuming a rifle?
The first time I shot was an M16 in >Air Force basic training
I was so excited, I forgot the part about how hitting the bolt catch chambers a round. I kept pulling the charging handle and ejecting a round.
Also I drew a safety violation for shooting after the range cadre announced cease fire.

It was a Sig p226 9mm. I think the target was about 25ft away

Not bad for a first timer then.

>be no guns
>anti guns fampies
>0 experience on pistols
>buy used USP40 police trade in
>timidly pop 3 shots off in to the dirt in my backyard flinching and terrified
>bolt inside to evade cops (which wouldn't come because legal shooting)
Still have the pistol too
10 rounds at 22 feet, am I opr8r nao?

>be 12 y/o me
>church hosts .22 shoot
>go to range, noguns at the time but people were nice and specifically brought loaner guns that all ended up at the same table
>see levergun
>immabeacowboy.fingerpainting
>25-40 yard range ish
>see chicken shaped steel target
>PING!
>wow
>PING PING PING PING PING!
>repeat two or three times
>probably twenty minutes of shooting
>then it happens
>it jammed.
>it jammed so fucking bad that it took an hour to clear
By the time that piece of shit was working again I'd taken to using a 10/22 on the targets and some no name .22 pistol.
I never looked back, but it definitely Linda put a damper on my first shooting experience.

That's great! What were you shooting?
My first time shooting was in the Scouts with an elderly bolt-action .22, sitting. I hated shooting from a bench.
>>34222814
Holy Jesus yes you are. Seven yards is quite acceptable for a handgun.
>>34222814
Pretty damn operator.
What gun/ammo?
