Just get a small 12 gauge flare gun, then get cheap 12 gauge shells and empty them of everything but the primer, trim to length, almost fill with pure sea salt, push thin block of florist foam over the top to plug it. I had an idea for a cowboy monster hunter who used a shotgun filled with different rounds for different monsters. Like silver buckshot for vampires, slugs for werewolves. Salt and iron for ghosts and shit.

No. You need the following:

Obviously a Crucifix, the bigger the better; should be silver plated too. A chainsaw with a silver plated chain. Wear a wreath of garlic bulbs, silver plate them sons of bitches too. Would a gun that has killed before have any extra effect on a spoop? I've got a winchester model 97 that's been passed down multiple times in my family and it supposedly has 4 human kills under it's belt.

If theories on things like Animism or Totemism are to be believed, then a gun that old and experienced should have a serious spiritual presence. It might have even developed into what the japs call a Tsukumogami, or a tool spirit because of it's age and history. If it's actually killed people, then such a thing should be recorded in it's presence. I don't know about extra killing power, but spookydooks might avoid you for easier prey if they feel the shotgun's willingness to kill what endangers the owner. Or maybe it just radiates murderous intent. I don't know how the guys killed by the gun ended up on the wrong end.

cold iron is just iron, steel may work but i stick with wrought iron. white ash trees are not native to the areas historically known for skinwalkers. people would have had no way to acquire white ash wood to use against them.
