For anyone who wants to share their favorite knife shapes and/or styles.
For me it's a drop point folding or a nice fixed blade kukri.
For something pretty/for fun, an Italian stiletto, for something functional, KA-BAR
>>34218518
Stay gold pony boy
>>34218659
I know it would be stupid to use it for such a thing no matter what, but could you easily use a stiletto to fight?
>>34219267
Stilletos were designed for penetration. It is NOT and EDC. The blade is designed to be long and thin so stabbing would be incredibly lethal. It defines a fighting knife.
>>34218400
Kukris are the shit
>>34218400
The ones you've all posted are pretty nice, but I reckon a trench knife would be very, very effective in a knife fight.
>>34221310
>>34221303
inb4 someone calls pattern welded steel "damascus"
but yeah either way those are sexy, the kukri is a good knife for shit like pattern welding or engraving because of the fat shape
>>34221554
Anybody who knows anything know that 99.99% modern "Damascus" is just pattern welding and the remaining 0.01% is an attempt to recreate the real stuff. Unfortunately the term is so entrenched that it's just easier to use it and be pendantic later.
>>34221936
Been to gun shows with that fake damascus shit. Little ass knives with the grain texture. Suprised people still fall for it. They'll be mad when their edge curls I'm sure of that.
>>34221936
Couldn't a scientist just take an actual Damascus knife and figure out the needed materials and the ratios and the method used to manufacture it. I mean we fucking have modern technology I don't know why a bunch of people say it's impossible to recreate actual Damascus steel.
>>34221334
That looks something you would use to pierce the enemy tank to kill the crew inside
for me its the fairbairn sykes, the ultimate fighting knife
>>34218400
Filipino
t. Filipino.
>>34223904
Well, more of the Itak/Gulok types. Not so much the rest.
>>34218400
Best knife coming through
>>34218400
A nice hunting knife for me.
Finnish blades. When you absolutely positively have to chop and carve every motherfucker in the woods accept no substitutes.
Also +5 damage against communists.
>>34224099
Is this the jääkaaripuukko 110?
Is it worth it?
>>34222901
Doesn't it take a very special iron ore the source of which has been depleted since the 18th century ??
>mfw this thread becomes a discussion about damascus steel instead of pictures of knives
>>34221334
>Triangular bayonet with a handle
That thing looks nasty
About to get my first Nepal made Kukhuri, a British service No. 1 to be specific.
Really excited for it.
>>34224099
I find the Skrama to be a wristrapist. It's missing weight in the front makes it hard to use use a proper chopping technique. For everything else it gets straight A's.
>>34224113
It's the best budget option hands down. Grab it when you can.
>>34224532
Made from Wootz steel, but I'm not sure if it's regular Iron that makes the steel or not.
>>34224532
There is no "special iron" iron is iron.
There is a Wikipedia article on Wootz steel and how it's made.
>>34218400
Karambit, because I don't like to pretend my knife is a jack of all trades, it's fun to practice with, the blade is never or rarely facing you, it's easier to rip and tear from the bottom up than from top to bottom, your wrist is protected from fixation basically by default
tanto obviously
>>34218400
Real Bowie knife. If you know the manual of arms, there is no substitute.
>>34227173
>AUTISM
>>34227173
someone needs to put a stop to this meme
bump.
>>34229320
>>34229324
What? Am I missing something?
>>34229758
theyre making fun of you because youre a counter strike fag???
i dont know either. karambits are cool and brutal as fuck.
Persian / upswept
I also bought a Jambiya because I've always liked them
>>34229296
>Bagwell
Excellent taste. Too bad a genuine one is $1000+
>>34224532
Wootz steel reproduction isn't widely known, but its been done a few times. And yes, special iron very high in micro-alloying minerals and substances was used, don't listen to them
>>34225183
>>34225040
>>34224099
They are ugly af though
>>34229781
I don't play counter strike, but I've seen the cosmetics for the game. I loved karambits long before this new cs came out with flashy skins and shit
>>34229758
Stab>cut fags like to to make fun of people who think karambits or khukris make particularly good defensive weapons because there design makes them good only for slashing/chopping.
>>34218400
I like Puukko knives.
But I'm an /out/ fag.
Moras are pretty cool too.
Sheepsfoot, strong tip, enough piercing power, allows for a full flat grind
>>34224615
where is the best place to buy a nepalese made kukhuri?
>>34232858
Tora blades and Himalayan imports are both regarded as the best.
>>34218400
Perfect for gardening, or slashing the hell out of plants
>>34218400
Puukko and russian variations of puukkos are the best knives.
1. Finnish-type knife, aka "engineer's puukko", "paratrooper's puukko" or "frogman's puukko". Produced by Trud factory, Vacha, USSR.
2. NA-40 (military knife) or NR-40 (recon's knife) - first knife adopted as a weapon in Red Army. Manufactured by many factories and workshops. The main producers were the factory of instruments in Zlatoust and Trud factory in Vacha
3. Norvegian-type aka NKVD knife. Manufactured by Trud, given to the NKVD members (like border guard and recons) as an EDC tool. Based on P. Holmberg's knife
>>34232797
That's not a sheepsfoot though
Grosse messer, main gauche, or anything with a clip point.
Are there modern variations of this thing?
>>34223893
>>34233192
were these ever really used and were they good?
>>34233236
Don't feel like looking it up for you but I remember seeing a history channel show about ancient meme weapons that were never really used seriously and I believe that was mentioned
>>34218400
inb4 wasted money just to have stag horn grip
>>34232858
>>34232918
Yes, Tora blades is #1. HI #2
>>34224564
What's the deal with triangular and cross-section bayonets ?
>>34233127
oh yeah, what is it then?
>>34235012
it creates a wound that can't be effectively field treated and requires table work
>>34236450
A reverse tanto.
>>34218659
Holy shit I forgot about that book. Had to read it back in middle school or some shit, but somehow I knew the line as soon as I read it. Must have made a bigger impression on me than I thought
>>34236894
I think most people were assigned it in middle school anon, most Americans at least, I'd say it was my second favorite book I read for school, my most favorite being Frankenstein.
>>34218518
My gf's grandpa gave me his Italian stiletto. He's from the south, and honestly I think he's just relieved that his granddaughter's yankee cityfag bf actually likes guns.
