If I buy a black powder gun and get a conversion cylinder for it to shoot 45 colts out of it do I have to hand load the cartilages with black powder or will it be able to fire store bought 45 long colts without breaking the cylinder??

You'll have plenty of time in prison to research it.

I use mine for shows or re-enactments but if you want a better made b/p revolver get one that is steel frame. It won't warp or expand as brass.
>>
>>34215277
It'll shoot factory ammo just fine. The important factor is the pressure, not the powder.
>>
>>34215550
Did you intend to have a coplock firearm look like a flintlock or was it just a massive production cock-up?

Does it even work well?

Shit, had to go to Lowe's. I hate that place.
Anyway I got it for $50 and I enjoy the way it look, feels and shoots. The ol' boy that sold it to me gave me the other gun for free. He re-did the thing a couple years ago for whatever reason.

While you are correct, the shock with higher grade ammo will stress between the steel and brass. Just like with heat and cold, the steel -vs- brass will react to shock and pressure.

Define "shock".

It doesn't matter. Hot factory loads will be labeled as such and will include warnings not to fire in old guns. Everything else is gtg.

>>

I appreciate that.
I was dickin around and zip tied that handle (air soft from the stepson) to my walkin stick. A deputy in my county always waves while drivin by. He suddenly stopped and backed up asking me "What the hell is that?" I told him it was my "Tactical Assault Attack, Shit Whoopin Stick!"
He was still cracking the fuck up when he left.
>>
>>34219370
Try to bend brass -vs- steel. It's no contest. Physics.
>>
>>34220006
Just finished making it, so I haven't tested it out yet. I have nothing to do tomorrow, so I'll go find out. There's an octagonal cut-out lip on the rail that hugs it securely to the barrel and disallows any twisting or turning, so I feel like it will be acceptably stable—I can't make it wobble or turn with my bare hands, so I feel pretty confident it will hold just fine. I'll post results in this or the next black powder thread I see if this one is down by the time I have everything ready to post.
>>
>>34220068
I didn't say anything about the strength of brass relative to steel.

I've thought this over for a while, but I'd like to just fact check with you guys to be sure there wouldn't be any issues and to get some advice suggestions.

So, to start, I am 19 and live in California, and for now at least, can't leave, maybe soonish, but it'll at least probably be like half a year. So, I want a gun for well, obvious reasons, mostly self defense. A rifle or carbine isn't really that great for my situation, I don't have much space at all. So, as far as I know, even though I'm not 21, I could buy a bp cap and ball revolver, as legally it's not a firearm at all. I'm not sure about carrying it, but I probably would anyway because I care more about my life than the law. So uh, just, 1. am I correct about all of this? and 2. what are some suggestions for models and makers of bp revolvers
>>
>>34221395
How much money do you have? if you have more than 500 to spare get a glock kit, your ass is going to get reamed the same as if you had a 'real' gun if you defend yourself with a BP revolver.
>>
>>34221414
I have like, 2K in a bank account, and than a bit of cash, also I could buy a glock kit legally here even though I'm not 21?
>>
>>34221439
A kit.

Make a Gunbroker account and type in http://www.gunbroker.com/Gun-Parts-Kits/BI.aspx?Keywords=glock+&Sort=13

find a polymer 80 frame if it doesn't come with it

Look for for deals there. and get a drill if you don't already have one and follow instructions on youtube.
>>
>>34221498
I appreciate the advice, but, this kinda seems like a good way to go to prison, I don't wanna be ass raped daily by Jamal and Pedro for a year+ just because I did one dumb thing
>>
>>34221536
Not illegal and using any gun, black powder or not, in self defense is going to get you the same thing.
>>
>>34221571
I hate how defending oneself is apprently a crime now, anyway, thanks for the tips anon, i'll look into it
also uh, any other kits I could buy? I'm not really a huge glock fan, aesthetically or in how they seem to shoot/function
>>
>>34221596
You can get a 1911 kit but you need a jig to cut the slide This guy has built like 10 1911s but he actually cares about things like accuracy and such

If you want a gun fast and don't care/ use aluminum frames this guy shows how fast you can get a gun if you have a kit from a place like SARCO

>>
>>34221704
Forgot link to the speed test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5zx77IQb7c

You're shit out of luck for anything else but a Glock and a 1911. Maybe an AR pistol but that's not really a pistol/ not really concealable.
>>
>>34221704
I can't into tools really anon, I'm pretty dumb
>>
>>34221742
This is literally impossible to fuck up, If you can butter toast you can do a 1911 build off an 80%.

You have options, even as a cuckstater, take a breath and go it step by step, the Cali government depends on you believing it's too much work and you are too stupid to do anything yourself for any of their bullshit to work. Take this as the first step to declare yourself a citizen and not a subject.
>>
>>34215341
Why would that get you prison time? "Homemade firearms" are legal IIRC so long as they're not an NFA item.
>>
>>34221809
In California at least you have to apply for a serial number first. We have "ghost gun" laws now.
>>
>>34222729
>California
>representative at all of firearms laws in the US

Let me ask you then, is it actually illegal yet just to have an unserialized gun in your possession, or is it only illegal to MAKE an unserialized gun?
>>
>>34218995
Willie, is that you?
>>
>>34218486
Aesthetic.
>>
>>34218266
Fun, but be aware that in many states, adding ANY tactishit to a BP gun makes it no longer fit the "antique or replica" exceptions. There's case law in FL where even a fiber optic front sight on a Hawken muzzleloader made it illegal for someone with a felony conviction to possess while hunting.
>>
>>34223882
Hahaha I wish, I'm just an ol' long hair country boy. I can't carry a tune for shit. Respects for Willie.
>>
>>34221742
>I can't into tools really anon, I'm pretty dumb

You can learn by doing some basic layout and drilling on scrap. Also watch many Jewtoob machining videos. Knowledge cures all and every man should be able to do very basic metalworking. It's good for you. Finishing firearms motivates many people to learn and what you learn is more useful and important than getting a bang stick out of it.
