The Russian fighter over the Barents Sea intercepted the Norwegian air force anti-submarine aircraft. This was reported to the Ministry of Defense.

The incident occurred today at about 12:30 Moscow time. "The Russian airspace control means over the neutral waters of the Barents Sea was found an aircraft flying along the state border of the Russian Federation with the transponder turned off," the report said. On his interception was sent a MiG-31 fighter from the air defense forces of the Northern Fleet.

The Russian fighter aircraft approached the plane. The pilot managed to establish that this anti-submarine P-3C Orion. "After the Norwegian flight changed the flight route and removed from the Russian border, the interceptor MiG-31 returned to the base airfield," the Defense Ministry said.

What the hell were a P3, B-52, and a pair of B-1s doing out there together? And without fighter cover no less.
