So /k/ I decided it's time to finally buy some slavshit. While looking at SKS's, Makarovs, Toks, mosins, and AKs it occurred to me that half that shit isn't legal in my state without severely neutering the gun.
So I opted for a polish flare gun instead. How'd I do? Are these worth it or was I fooled by the slavaboos?
Why

You had difficulty getting a Mosin-Nagant? What state do you live in?
>>34213525
A sporter sks is legal in every state.
>>34213525
I regret not getting one when they were available for under $50, as I really can't bring myself to buy one now that they're going for over $100. The surplus flares are probably even more expensive now than they used to be, but reloading component should still be available so go and load some smoke grenade shells or some chalk practice shells.

Seconding this, what the fuck are you talking about?
What caliber is it? There are adapters to turn some flare guns into a single shot pistol. Cool for plinking.
>>34214842
California. The big 5 mosins have long since dried up. And everyone in this state asks $300+ for the price tag plus the $100-$125 dollar transfer fee.
Mosins aren't that nice.

26.5 mm
I'm actually thinking about maybe a 16 inch insert so I can have a neat oddity
>>34213525
Oh, I do love me some flare gun threads!
Forgive me, but I'll be dropping all my saved pics!

These aren't that bad. But Jesus, Chinese SKS's go for like $650 in California. Apparently even if you buy on armlist you have to do paper work at an FFL. Wtf? When I bought mine I literally gave a guy $200 and signed a bill of sale.
Well, that's the last of it.
As a "manufactured" firearm, flare guns suck.
But as a pistol that can fire any caliber you can find, they're awesome. They (and a collection of inserts) can be a good addition to a SHTF collection, because you can fire whatever ammo is available, or give a noguns a firearm in a pinch.
More importantly, in some of the less free States, you can still order these flare guns and inserts through the mail, making it possible to arm yourself if you need to. With some of the strong opinions in this country right now, it's an option people could use.

That's pretty interesting.
>>34220653
Sadly I can have the flare gun in California but the inserts are a no go. Apparently they violate the states SBS laws, and most places won't ship even the pistol calibers to ca.
Kind of dumb you can't even buy a metal sleeve any halfwit machinist can turn on a lathe in an hour, but such is life in cuckfornia
>>34220457
This is fucking cool. That actually is also probably legal in ca. Since it would meet the length requirements
>>34220376
No they're definitely not that bad, but still worse than every other state.
SKS aren't worth it for the price since they're basically the perfect CA compliant rifle everyone wants one.
Mosins are just not good enough rifles for the price people are selling them for.
What state did you buy your sks in?
>>34221432
inserts are easy to make with a chamber reamer, barrel stub, spent shell, and some epoxy. if you're not fancy you can make do with a drill bit for the chamber on some pistol rounds.
>>34220318
The fuck is this? Sauce?
>>34220366
Details on the insert, my man.
>>34221574
Yeah in all likelihood they're totally possible with super simple tools.
I'll be moving in a few years though so I'm fine with waiting and just buying flares to have fun with.

OФ-93-01
(RP-93-01)
It's not a flare gun, whatsoever.
It's a single shot shotgun, the same gauge as the KS-23 (roughly 4 gauge)
Google the cyrillic name if you want to learn more.
>No you'll never find one for sale, don't ask

IFI 92 or 93? crazy russian squeeze cocker?

>OФ-93-01
wouldn't that be "OF-93-01", not RP-93-01

Dunno.
That's just how it translates in google.
Either way, it's not a flaregun.

Go to the link I posted >>34220304
They also sell .22,9mm, and .38 inserts. You could also buy a marine flare adapter, and the the Chiappa 12 shotgun inserts in pistol calibers.
If you are a machinist, or you know one, you could buy an unturned barrel in your favorite caliber, and have it cut to be a flare gun insert.
Lots of options,OP.
>>34221626
I have none to offer. It's just a saved pick, because I'm a flare gun fan, and THAT pic is awesome.
>>34217734
Where are you going that charges you $125 for just the transfer? Also I have bought 3 mosins in the past month for under $200, including an m44.
